Very good description of the Honeywell/Sperry helipilot system, but actually the two functions you are showing are the ATTD HOLD function, that retains the flight pitch&roll attitudes and allows changing them with the cyclic FTR (momentary changes still allowed out-of-detent, i.e. against magnetic clutch spring), and the SAS system that dampens the rates on all axis. Hello, i have one in my neighborhood (Agusta 119).. Im seeing this helicopter almost everyday-Relublic od Srpska-Banja Luka-Zaluzani Airport. I have one question for you.. Did you try DCS World MI 8 and other helicopters and how you would rate it?
Hi, recently come across your channel. Loving all of your videos. Sorry I don’t know your name. I’m very interested in the AW119 Koala, and seriously considering the purchase of one. Is there a contact medium in which i can speak with you personally about the 119 specifically and a type rating. I hold a FAA PPLH, R44, 206B3, and 206L4. Not sure how to make personal contact with you. Thank you.
Get a 407 and save a small fortune, just as capable as the 119 and there's many low hour ships on the market, unlike the 119.Support from bell is better than leonardo, especially in the states.Good luck and enjoy, they are both great.
@@c.gauthier6025 na 119 lifts a ton more, has nearly 4 hrs endurance with 8 on board, and our support comes from the US not Italy so touch wood it's been fantastic ever since we got the heli . The GXI does look like a nice heli and the 407 is smoother but try going direct from North London to Bale Switzerland in one , just over 3 hrs with the 119 non stop
@@sladehelicoptersgaming3148 Yeah, the 119 is an Absolute beast.I've seen it loaded @ 270 G bambi bucket for fire suppression missions, it can do 13 circuits by the time a b3 does 10, and heli-sking op's love them, after the b3e of course. There's no other single that can outperform it for utility, but for private use, taxi flights, it's overkill for the majority of missions and the 407 is the same, just a little more practical in my opinion. If my pockets were that deep I might as well go with the a109e power, my dream machine.Anyways, I hope you enjoy your time in the 119, it's an amazing bird, cheers.
@@sladehelicoptersgaming3148 Sure would have helped market the koala with a 3-axis AP as standard.Don't get me wrong, it's been successful, but with around 300 ships built in the last 20 plus years, compared to the Squirrel b3 and the b407, it holds just a fraction of the light-single market, and now with the aw09 kopter coming, only time will tell.
Reduced pilot workload sounds fantastic to me. What a valuable video. never seen Sas explained before.
Excellent video again. Very informative and excellent practical example. Great to see you flying again. Happy flying and stay safe 🚁👌😀
Great video! Always amazing content on the Koala 😍
Thank you for sharing your expertise. Great video.
Excellent video very informative thanks!
Brilliant video! Thanks
VERY NICE PILOT SAAD NAJIB AGUSTA 109 Test PILOT
Great description 👍🏻
I see that the AW119 doesnt have the Auto trim switch in the Autopilot panel like the AW109. What does the Auto trim switch do on the AW109? Thanks!
not sure it might be part of the upper modes / flight director
Thanks!
Excellent, thank you! Is the machine Single Pilot IFR rated?
No this one is VFR the new TH variant is IFR

Great system if you inadvertently punch into cloud or fog.
Hi slade, I was wondering what prevents your cyclic/pedal inputs from fighting against the sas system?
Good question I guess the system must know the difference between control imputes and external ones

Dcs helicopters and X-plane helicopters are the bench mark both very good

Do you regularly use attitude hold? Or does the force trim and sas do a good enough job?
it's always on with the SAS
