There's one 600N in my area, used exclusively for power transmission line surveys. It's fitted out with cameras and sensors to detect corona discharge and other electrical faults. It is a very distinctive machine and everybody knows what it is doing wherever it goes. It's a joy to watch.
I can say one thing about this particular model; while it is not on the pre-flight check. Where the cyclic goes into the deck, the control surface needs to be checked for cracks. We lost a 600N for this reason in flight and good thing it was near the ground when it rolled over and crashed.
Also most 600’s are left seat PIC, in 7000+ hours of helicopter time I have yet to see the dreaded 3rd seat in a 500. I think a tour company in Hawaii might have been doing that but is nowhere near the “norm”
This project NOTAR did be started in HUGHES Helicopters in decade 60, and when HUGHES Sold for MD the projects comming jointly and than started in LINE production
Appreciate the review but your opinion of it flying like a pig without SAS is an unfair statement. Flew close to 2000 hours in a pre SAS 600 another 400-500 with and it was just fine. If flown a 1/2 ball out of trim it is rock solid all day long. Also as far as the auto rotation goes, yes it drops pretty quick but viewers should know your dealing with a FADEC system. when the throttle is closed, the fuel is completely rolled off all the way and immediately. Most aircraft including the 500 have governors that roll the fuel off more slowly. The MD600N is a fine aircraft, not a perfect aircraft nor is any. Most people that complain about certain characteristics of the aircraft are low time 600 pilots. This airframe takes a little time to understand its personality. having flown it in many different roles from sling loads, mountain operations and other utility operations I can say it’s all together a good bird.
@@sladehelicoptersgaming3148 : I didn’t think you were “bashing it” and it’s not like it’s my girlfriend or wife and I’m gonna be offended, just offering some additional data for those that might be interested. I have flown pretty much every brand and size from heavy lift to MD500’s and I gotta say the 600N can be a lot of fun if you know how to treat her right 👍
Nice helicopter yes there are better but I've always liked the 500/600 models for looks. The old OH 6 was a damn good aircraft. That of course was way before MD owned them.
yeah I agree the two biggest things are the stability and range that the 600 can't touch, not had a play in ether but I know the 135 can be a bit rough on passengers with it's rigid rotor head
@@sladehelicoptersgaming3148 The 145 is being fitted with a 5 rotor head now to aid smoother ride and increase power and payload. Is the 119 your favourite helicopter or is there one you really fancy trying?

Great work. The MD600N seems pretty rare in these parts (YT). Thank you for letting us ride along.
Hughes Helicopters always ahead of time
Notar's tail heavy and so complicate to maintain, and still go crazy when transmission snaps
Nice flying!

good to know thanks
saw a crazy amount of right pedal on auto. get the impression it doesn't glide like an external rotor
correct, short boom and you have to use the rudders a lot, yes I do mean rudders lol

You get hi a lot. Pilot joke.Ok no center seat.
I love this thank you In last year I had a screenshot I love it & the way it Was design 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥⭐💣
Would love 💗 the opportunity to fly the MD600N!

Thanks for your input it's just my opinion based on 6000 hrs of heli flying , not trying to bash the machine just saying what I think

@@vancekeith5642 that's very cool what kind of heavy lift ? lynx mk7 is the biggest thing I have flown and that was only a very short flight
@@sladehelicoptersgaming3148 : Sikorsky S-61N
@@vancekeith5642 very nice! utility work and slinging I am yet to do, all my flying is charter, corporate and aerial work etc
the great lack of this model is the absence of space for luggage and a certain obsolescence in its avionics.
yeah if it's not full of people there is space for luggage but yes there is no separate hold
I find it charming
Love it
cool narration

That's a heluvacopter.
Still think the 119 is much better. Have you tried out the H135/145 yet? Stay safe and happy flying 👍🚁

Do you like the Bell 407?
@@richardsumerfield4923 The 119 is thee best helicopter there ever is or was lol, people think I'm nuts till they fly one then they say the same :)
It looks a very stable helicopter. Is the body painted or have you had it wrapped? Love the colour scheme 😃
Hughes today work with space equipments for satelites
❤❤❤💪🏾😊👍🏾
You say test flight so what was your TQ at hover, cruise TQs and fuel flow, your gross weight and payload available….
This was last October last year ! I can't remember what I had for dinner last night lol
They sure where talking funny on the radio for that having an N registration....
🍺😎👍
Bloody hell, a man of any size cant fit
It’s a shame they don’t come with modern avionics.
I think you can have pretty much have what you want depending on how deep your pockets are
Absolute worse flying helicopter of all times.
