With new GI, high poly models and improved quality of textures, similar in level to work of Halk Hogan, who made mods for Witcher 3, this game will really look good, even despite old body animations and facial expressions.
@@regisdrift The last I saw was Remedy was ready to start on it but they haven't actually started yet so it may or may not happen. I just hope they can follow through and do it and it doesn't stay in limbo
Thanks hehe, yeah that was a crazy Idea I had, to fixate a strong ass light to the front of the train. And it lookd so cool I decided to keep it! Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice work! Still room for improvements, lights are quite inconsistent and flickery sometimes and bloom looks a bit harsh, like the source radius of lights might be too small at times and locations of light sources are a bit inaccurate to lamp meshes at times. Materials look a bit metallic i guess and all materials seem to have almost equally glossy feeling. Automatically generated normal maps work on some surfaces better than on others, for example metro map and subway signs looks kinda weird with intense depth illusion. Perhaps some materials would work better if green channel of normal maps were flipped. Character models look a bit "sweaty" due to quite low roughness value. But this is awesome and amazing anyway!
Thanks for you valuable feedback utopia! We will take this with us into development for sure. We are aware of the problems and shortcomings of the lights in this game, we are working on replacing all the lights by hand. Materials will feature proper PBR properties going forward. I just need to learn how to effectively produce and import them into the game. You're talking about manually remastering thousands of individual textures. We don't have the time or man power for such an undertaking. We're literally 3 guys working on this project, and only one texture guy (me) I will have to batch process all the textures in a single level for this to be phatomable. But I have an idea of an approach that will make textures appear better. Sweaty characters, is because of roughness settings. It will be adjusted in the future! Thanks for checking it out and stay tuned for what's to come! :)))
Even as a WIP, this is already looking pretty damn good. I'd absolutely replay this with the RTX mod. About how long did this take? I really hope someone out there is doing this for early ImSim games like System Shock 2, Thief, and Deus Ex. I think System Shock 2 in particular is a perfect candidate for an RT facelift with its metallic surfaces, gore, and spooky shadows. Plus, it moves at a pace where one can truly soak in the added atmosphere.

For example, just imagine playing any of the Human/Xenomorph campaigns in the first two AvP PC games, with these effects. It will literally become unplayable and unfinishable, unless very heavily "toned/dialed back down" manually (at which point it means you won't be getting full patch/ray traced experience, you will be compromising). I'd say it's probably the heuristic denoiser that couldn't figure it out with the low amount of samples or something.
Looks great but the OG Max games are kind of a pita to get running on PC any longer. Still worth it, don't get me wrong. Def looking forward to the remake that's happening with the first 2 games. Can't wait.

A remake.
