I loved playing Space Gun at the BX when I was stationed at Malmstrom AFB from '93 to '96. No MAME or home system can replicate the arcade game experience, with the recoiling gun controller, the pump to switch grenades, the pedals to go in reverse and a second player to back you up and bicker with you over said pedals. "Fall back!" "We're running out of time!" "Fall back!" Good times.
Man this game ROCKS!! I thrashed it to death at my local video store and kept pumping in dollar coins without thinking twice, it was so life-like and genuinely scary. I thought it was awesome that you could backpedal in this game too, that was an original feature. Ah to be a teenager again...
This was a great light gun game that was in the arcades many years ago & i was lucky enough to have spent an great amount of tokens in beating it. It's even better when you play with a partner.
OMG i remember playing this in Time Zone around 20 years ago, the graphics seemed so awesome back then lol. I always wanted to look it up on here but couldnt remember the name, but tonight i remembered and low and behold here it is, time for a trip down memory lane...
when i was a kid this game was the greatest, could never get past the jeep stage though. Best thing was how the guns had a pump action to change the ammo, so cool
Thanks for helping me remember the name of this arcade game! I remeber seeing this at my local, now-defunct Pizza Hut back in 1995, but I never played it. I just remember it having the same gameply setup as Operation Wolf 3. I'm gonna download it immediately.
Great game, I remember spending hours playing space gun in the early 90's. Hard on the beginning but in the end, I finished it for 5 francs with 2 credits, (1 dollar). To really play this game like said "Kentuckyfriedplus" you need the original Arcade with the pedal and the gun. Otherwise, the interrest is limited.
Space Gun mostly borrows from Alien (such as the responding to the SOS of an abandoned space station), but the SAR (Search and Rescue) concept's also ben taken from Aliens
if you're using MameUI (which uses a graphical user interface), click on options, then select default options on the main menu. This will access the default game properties. from there choose the controllers tab and click "Enable Mouse Input", click on apply to confirm the enabling, and click ok to exit the properties menu.
I always loved this game; it was the closest thing to an ALIENS light gun game at the time (until the Alien 3 cabinet came out). I remember it being so hard, though...seriously, if you didn't have any bombs you were screwed; it took nearly half your energy bar just to cut a limb off of one of those huge bug-eyed bastards @_@
cool looked for this game but couldnt remember the name, graphix is more crappy then it was back in the 90's but then again this game is still awesome :D
Man, Space Gun was ported to the Commodore Amiga, Commodore64, Sinclair ZX Spectrum and the Amstrad CPC. There are videos here on youtube, search for them.

I loved the recoil on this gun; something that hasn't been featured on any home consoles to date.
