I think the British cover designs were more creative and appealing in many cases. The cover photo of Peter and Gordon was fantastic...never saw it before. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing these with us. Being female, I especially remember a lot of those albums, because I think we (not the male audience that makes up most of the collector market these days) were the original market for them. Especially the Herman's Hermits and Dave Clark Five ones. I didn't own too many records, though, in the 1960s, for financial reasons. I'm not "buying back" my childhood - I'm buying a lot of it for the first time! (Although usually on CD reissues, not vinyl.)
Great British Invasion stuff! I have the color cover version of The Small Faces LP, I saw the black and white one for a little cheaper but the color one just seemd a bit cooler to me i guess haha. Not sure if you know bands like The Four Pennies or The Rockin Berries, but they are some of my fav Brit. Invasion bands, they are well worth looking up.
I've had a copy of the Them album and the sticker merely covers up the title "Here Comes the Night" alone. I guess "Gloria" became a hit after my copy.
Interesting point here. I tend to agree with you. Certainly groups like Herman's Hermits and the Dave Clark Five were marketed toward the "teeniebopper" crowd--i.e., young women. And then there were the "tougher" groups, like the Kinks and Rolling Stones, for the young men. Sure, guys had a few of those Hermits records, but that poster on their wall was the Stones.
Over the years I have gotten stuff at thrift stores, record shops, antique stores, flea markets, and so on. I have not ever been to a real "record show," but I've always wanted to. I never spend too much money on my records, so I'm always hunting out vinyl bargains! Thanks for liking my videos.
Glad you enjoyed. Yeah, sometimes the American covers are cooler than the British ones, and of course sometimes they're a complete disaster! Someone should write an article about the differences between UK/US covers of British Invasion artists and what that reveals about ways of marketing popular music. Every time that the US companies changed the UK covers, they did so for a reason. Sometimes it seems they wanted to minimize the "Britishness"; other times they wanted to capitalize on it.
I have most of the same records. Only comment- "Sweets For My Sweet" was covered by Chicago band "The Cryan' Shames" - and it was quite a regional hit. The Bucks never charted with it. Love all the albums ! The Brits were just awesome. little did iIknow at the time that they covered so many US made songs? Just a little too young and a little too green. Since then, I've discovered who wrote many of these gems!
Yeah the black and white cover of that Small Faces record is counterfit and the color version is the legit pressing. I really like these videos of your record collection. Do you have any soul/R&B records or are you just a rock and roller??
ahh bummer well if you ever get a chance Please do so I would like to see the Cat # and the Matrix #'s if possible not to mention the cover . Do you buy your records at shows, a local shop or do yah hit up thrift store? Are there any flea markets or swap meets in your area? Either way keep up the good work I love watching what yah have and listen to the cuts that you play ... Keep it up and keep the wax spinning
Yeah, I think it's just the British look of that era. Like some of the albums that Capitol Records released at this time in the USA, a lot of these covers had tops where the title, artist, and sometimes genre was clearly marked so that people flipping through could see that info at a glance.
Poison Idea? Never heard of it, but I assume it made fun of us! It's true: there's plenty of things to make fun of record collectors for. I do it myself sometimes.
sounds like me I am a thrift store junkee I have unearthed some insane records for example I bought a box of 50 records for 5 bucks and inside that box was a gold mine Sgt Pepper Mono 1st pressn, MMT mono 1st press, 2 White albums one German and one US all 1st pressn, as if those werent enough how about a mono Hard Days Night US 1st press. Not to mention a bunch of german pressed Rolling Stones and many more
I think you're thinking of "Sugar and Spice" rather than "Sweets for my Sweet"--an understandable mix-up considering they're both Searchers songs about *sweet* girls.
As far as I know it doesn't have any English on it at all--not even the word "First." I have seen many of these records over the years: the thin, plastic-covered paper sleeves with the (often) colored vinyl records inside.
Sadly no--no photo. It probably ripped and yellowed on some 60s teenager's bedroom wall. Sounds like you got some bargain disks! Is there anything better than finding good records for cheap?
Which one, the sealed or the red vinyl? Neither would be worth much. I';ve seen several sealed copies of that over the years. And there's never been much interest in those Asian bootlegs as their quality is rather poor.
That is very cool. -some good memories. I had a lot of those records. The British invasion was such an innocent time in pop music.
You have a lot of things I've never seen before and also things I saw in the stores when they were released. Fun to see them again!
Cool presentation of fine material...well done.

You have a nice voice, and thanks for sharing your albums!

i love all the stuff you have, you should do another video on on some 60's stuff.
The "Hullabaloos" were the house band of a weekly TV program called "Hullabaloo", in the sixties.
Very Nice - Thanks
Yeah, the Kinks did that two- and three-chord thing better than just about any of the British Invasion fellas. Glad you dug the video.
You're correct about the Small Faces album. Originals were in color, but a fantastic LP in any shade.
i must have that yardbirds album its so classic and i love that band mann..
Great stuff here......wish you had included either Liverpool Five's "Arrive" or "Out of Sight", Thanks anyway .

I have 11 of them and yes I have the color cover version of the Smalll Fases album. Jim
Good stuff dude

I remember trading my Steppenwolf "At Your Birthday Party" for The Yardbirds "For Your Love"! If the other guy only knew...;)

Don't you mean "Sugar and Spice" by the Cryan'Shames?(BTW, their first LP was well produced by pre Chicago James William Guercio)?
@@billkazen4683 You're right !
Hmmm...not sure. Maybe 25-30 LPs? Beatles records were the first things I collected way back when. Glad you liked the vid.
You put my collection to shame... all I have in there is the Troggs and the Manfred Mann LPs, both Canadian releases.
I got it at Spin-More Records in Kent, Ohio several years ago.
Thanks for the info. I'm glad you like the videos here, but I confess I don't have much at all in the way of soul or R&B.
Most nice record stores sell them. There's also that website, Bags Unlimited.
Yeah the black and white cover of that Small Faces record is counterfit and the color version is the legit pressing. I really like these videos of your record collection. Do you have any soul/R&B records or are you just a rock and roller??
Somebody put me wise to that shortly after I posted this. I never knew for sure, so, thanks.

ahhh right on is ther anyway you could upload a pic of the vinyl itself and perhaps the catalog numbers?
is the cat# FL.....?
I have roughly about 3,000 records in my collection.
What was it that Poison Idea said about record collectors? Just kidding! This is cool stuff!
sweets for my sweet was covered by the cryin shames
sounds like me I am a thrift store junkee I have unearthed some insane records for example I bought a box of 50 records for 5 bucks and inside that box was a gold mine Sgt Pepper Mono 1st pressn, MMT mono 1st press, 2 White albums one German and one US all 1st pressn, as if those werent enough how about a mono Hard Days Night US 1st press. The "Korean Hermans Hermits" is that n the First Records label? If so then it is a Tawianese presssing
I think you're thinking of "Sugar and Spice" rather than "Sweets for my Sweet"--an understandable mix-up considering they're both Searchers songs about *sweet* girls.
On CD, yes, but not on LP. I've never found the original record of that one.
Unfortunately I can't. I live about three hours away from where my records are kept.
As far as I know it doesn't have any English on it at all--not even the word "First." I have seen many of these records over the years: the thin, plastic-covered paper sleeves with the (often) colored vinyl records inside.
No, not really, though I do like Sam & Dave and Mitch Ryder from time to time.
@rascal211 why listen to soul, when you can listen to rock?
Don't I say in the video that it's a British copy?
Sadly no--no photo. It probably ripped and yellowed on some 60s teenager's bedroom wall. Sounds like you got some bargain disks! Is there anything better than finding good records for cheap?
Good Video i have the small faces color copy you can check it out on my video page also i have first pressing of ogdens nut gone flake.
You don't have any 1960s/1970s soul?
