    I would definitely recommend picking up some 13th Floor Elevator's!

      I've seen them around often but to be honest have never picked up a copy. Don't spin a whole lot of psych but will give it a shot at some point. Thanks for the recommendation! - Lj

    Thor called in, hammer of the gods shined up & at the ready. Take no prisoners! Glad you dug the post, definitely give the psych section a glance if for no reason other than some may file things in there that aren't necessarily 'trippy illucid' psych but more along the lines of The Doors or Frijid Pink which are more rock then ethereal which isn't a fav for me either. Unbelievable VCLT to Chris btw, I think you made the boy cry. Amazing David, hope all's well, U.S. has your back my brother. - Lj

    Hey Brother LJ, thanks mate. I really enjoyed watching that video Chris posted, I think he was actually speechless for a moment there, classic stuff! It was the least I could do, and I was real happy that it hit home like I hoped it would. Thanks for the support, let alone the support of an entire nation!! Sweet!! :) Next time I get in a bind, I know who I'm callin'!! Be well mate, its hump day baby!!

    You... hippy! You don't have just one album that happened to fall into your collection, you are a go-getter! From listening to the needle drop, they all sound like they are in near mint condition, not a bunch of 25 cent records that was on the curb waiting for the garbage man. You are a true music lover! Awesome video.

    • @BioCYTE1
      @BioCYTE1  10 лет назад

      Hey Jimmy! Blue Cheer could stand an upgrade but you know the rule man, if it don't play, it don't stay. Now, about these .25 rekkids sittin' on the curb......hmmmm, not around here! Glad you dug this, the needle drops take a little longer to piece together but I know I love it when people do it so I gotsta give back. Needle drops are responsible for a number of albums in my collection added by way of VC recommendation that I otherwise would not have rolled the dice on! Thanks for checkin' this out, hope Sunday's behaving for ya! - Lj

    Thanks so much for the kind comment, appreciate it! A 7" picture sleeve of Porpoise Song is no small feat, that's a grail piece, nice find! The full length doesn't seem to turn up often. I see the first couple of Monkees albums (thrashed of course) constantly, but the later, last few like Head, Pieces, Aquarius, etc., almost never. Weird. Really glad you dug it, Country Joe was one heck of an act to keep up with but just so darn listenable! Take care and thanks for swingin' by! - Lj

    Hey Todd! Sorry for the delay getting back to this. Head, for some reason, really is a tricky one to find but well worth it when a nice copy at a fair price shows up. Hold tight, it took awhile for mine to come around as well. For what it's worth, I know it's been reissued. May be worth checking Amazon or eBay for a copy and save the headache and high prices. Thanks for watching, congrats on the killer new albums! - Lj

    Cool to hear that your hip to Blue Cheer Dylan, that's awesome. I don't know of many people nowadays that have a clue of who they are and they're albums are just killer! Thanks for the Nocturn tip, I'll definitely check em' out. Oh, the song in the intro was "Strange Days" by The Doors. Go forth and seek it out, amazing album! Thanks for watchin' brother! - Lj

  • @BioCYTE1
    @BioCYTE1  11 лет назад

    Hey Tony, thanks for swingin' by, great to hear from ya! I agree 100% that Strange Days is actually the trippiest of the trippy when it comes to The Doros and an excellent album (they all are, I think, really). I went with the debut solely for Crystal Ship which may well be my absolute favorite Doors track and the first one that made me want to be Jim Morrison at 14 years old. Ha! Porpoise Song....wow, now that is a track that'll put ya in a trance! Enjoy! - Lj

    It actually was a 10 out of 10 for plain and simple killer albums. I just narrowed it down to 7 that I should have in my collection and anyone else who loves classic rock psych music should as well. Actually some of them are just great albums period .
    Ottavio said that he was surprised to see some of them in your collection. I used to think that when you showed certain albums. But I know that your collection goes much deeper than all of us know.
    Keep them coming.
    Talk soon~

    Seven essentials out of ten? Now that's not a bad battin' average! Frijid Pink is a band that Punk Texas turned me onto a few years ago and I couldn't have been happier. That s/t release and they're (second I think) album "Defrosted" are now in the collection and both just stellar albums. Yes, the Monkees Head album is an original Colgems mono. A little crackly, but such a great album and one I almost never see. Looks like a new Rob post is up, I'm off, thanks for swingin' by my brother! - Lj

    Your 10 essential Psychedelic Record picks were awesome I was fortunate to find The Monkees Porpoise Song 7inch with picture sleeve love that song 'm still looking for the full length like your as well as a minty copy of the Doors S/T. Country Joe & the Fish is excellent choice too. LJ you always know what albums are essential great video man have a great week LJ

  • @MrFartboy79

    All great choices LJ. I know you showed the first Doors album, but Strange Days is almost overlooked as the psychedelic masterpiece it is. Nothing else sounded like that. Strange Days, the song, sounds so timeless, like it could've come out anytime between then and now. Paul Rothchild knew what he was doing. Surrealistic Pillow, Twelve Dreams and Electric Music are top-notch psych classics. Just bought a copy of Head. Porpoise Song is killer!

    Hey Jeff! No need to apologize, life takes control sometimes, you do what you can to keep up and your friends are here when the free time is available. I've been catching alot of the ELO posts you've been throwing out there, great stuff, excellent background music when I can't spin the whole lp. Glad you dug some of the albums here. I'm not the biggest psych fan and your far better at posting recordings than I am, but all are worthwhile if you see em'! Thanks for watching, hang in there! - Lj

    I saw Ottavio post a video showin' his ten, pretty sure it was a thread although I'm not sure who showed it. I selfishly jumped on it. I missed the boat last time this topic came up so when I saw it again, I took the legal trip train to the shelves, pulled a handful and proceeded to have to recut this twice. Yours truly substituted an 'a' where an the first 'e' belonged in psychedelic and started the upload. Whoops. Grammer-schmammer. Thanks Mags, get a piece of the action! - Lj

      @BioCYTE1  8 лет назад

      +ThisIs ReadyMade To be honest, I've never been much of a Monkees fan. Just never appealed to me. Head though, definitely has some cool tracks and I agree, Porpoise Song is fantastic. $50?! No way! Thanks for tunin' in! - Lj

      Porpoise song was written by someone like Carly Simmons or Joan Biaz that’s why it’s great. It was her or another female singer writer from that time. Circle Sky by Nezmith is a cool song😊
      I have the video but the record was stolen. I remember wishing it was just the music not the film track though.

    I got turned onto Frijid Pink by PunkTexas and that is one that I ha to have. Immediately ordered it online and never looked back. Awesome album. I lucked out and found they're next album "Defrosted" at a thrift store about six months later. If you can find either for $10 or so, it's fair and completely worth it. Now, Airplane? Always. Country Joe, that sumbitch was weird with a capital 'W'. Blue Cheer. Bring on the proto-metal! Thanks for swoppin' in and vibin' with me, love ya lil' bro! - Lj

    Hi Brother LJ, Thanks for showing these. Psych is not a genre I am well versed in at all, so to hear some good examples was fun! There is an entire psych-rock section at my local and I have only really flicked through it casually a couple of times, but I think I will return and pay closer attention next time. Hope your week is off to a great start, be well, if work gives you any s&%$, just arrange for those Metal Gods to throw down like Thor in a shopping basket, that'll sort 'em out! :) D.

    Glad you dug the needle drops. They don't sound amazing, can't really be bothered to connect everything up to the computer, etc. for a 6 minute RUclips video but I know I appreciate it when people do it. It's great to hear someone talk about something, but sometimes I can only say an album is "awesome" so many times without sounding like an idiot! Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed! - Lj

    You have some that I would surely put on my list, but I am especially glad to see the Frijid Pink. When I hear the term psychedelic music, the song I always think of right away is the Frijid Pink House Of The Rising Sun. I like it much better than the Animals' version, which is also great. For the Dead, I would put Aoxomoxoa on the list - the 1971 mix. There's not much more psychedelic than What's Become Of The Baby. Thanks for the list. :)

  • @BioCYTE1

    I would most definitely consider Sgt. Pepper, (along with The Rolling Stone's answer in Satanic Majesty's Request for that matter) to be fine psychedelic albums. I didn't realize you were such a big Beatles fan. I made a video of my Beatles vinyl collection a year or so ago you may find worth watching. Saw your PM btw, will get back to you soon, got caught up with work. Thanks for checkin' this out, glad you dug it! - Lj

    Alot of recommendations came the same way for me (through the VC). Frijid Pink for example completely slipped my radar until PunkTexas played a clip of it a few years ago and I was hooked. So afr, the debut and follow-up "Defrosted" have turned up and both are barnstormers. You'd love em', I'll keep an eye out for you if you don't have em' on the menu already. Head has to be one of my absolute favorites. Never forget my initial reaction. "That's The Monkees? Nahhhhh!". Ha! Thanks Garner! - Lj

    I am such a big Beatles fan I have the first 7 of their albums all in the original UK albums as they were laid out all on Vinyl, they are the 70's pressing but I am pretty pleased with them, only ones that are not Parlophone is Hard Day's night and Revolover, Revolver is Odeon, and AHDN is some Russian record that translate into Melody (Мелодия) I also have the past masters 1 & 2 on vinyl (1988 pressing) only missing 2 albums (Abby road and Yellow Submarine) both easy to find here in the US

    Got that Frijid Pink from my Father-In-Law... The Aggregation sounds GREAT! I found that Blue Cheer recently for a buck at an antique mall :) Spirit for $2 at another antique mall :) Head is SO good - have the expanded CD version. Great choices here!

    Floored? See. That's exactly what I was talkin' about in 500 characters or less in your response. You pull stuff that I just don't expect you to have on the shelves. Why I don't expect it, I don't know because you have excellent taste and a collection that would swallow mine in a single gulp but that's exactly what I meant. Snazzy editing? Nah, cheap parlor tricks. Lp's left out? I could have gone on for another few posts easily. Not a bad idea actually......Thanks Ottman! - Lj

  • @BioCYTE1

    With a name like "HeavyPsych", if you're onboard than I must have picked ten decent albums. Thanks for checkin' this out, the Airplane has flown and man did they leave behind one helluva catalog! I have to be honest, while it doesn't compare, even the seventies era with Craig C., etc. is mostly still really topnotch stuff. Do you like the later stuff as well (we can leave the 80's output happily out of the discussion)....- Lj

    A record collection is complimented when the collector adds essential to the collection. There is a minimum of seven records in this video that are essential to every collection.
    Is that a mono Colgems 'Head' pressing Lj? The Frijid Pink' is one of my essential picks. I know a fellow VC member who sent me a gold label original pressing of my second favorite Doors album. That one looks like an original too? Where you like around when The Doors collection was released?
    Thanks Lj~

    I like some Jefferson Starship..mainly the Red Octopus and Earth lps, but that's about it. I probably need to take the time one day and go through their catalog again. I seem to change over the years and find that while I didn't enjoy something at one time, I end up liking it 10 years later. :-) . Anyway, for me Jefferson Airplane's first 6 lps are essential. Andyeah...let's just forget about Starhip ;-) ..I know Grace Slick has tried to do the same .

    Runnin' em' in reverse as usual. Why? Because I start at the top and work my way down! So as of this moment, I have no idea what you have in store for me in comment one. With that said, Spirit's "12 Dreams" is one of the more frequent "do you ahve an extra copy for trade" albums I get PM's about second only I'd guess to "In the Court of the Crimson King". I grab em' both whever I see em' (not too often anymore), both are awesome! Ok, off to comment one! - Lj

    curious would you consider The Beatles, Sgt Peppers Lonely hearts club band Album a good Psychedelic record, I think it would be, the entired album makes you feel like your on their trips especially but not limit to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite, of course can't forget A day In the Life with the exiting of the Song. and Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon

No matter, but so long as your talking little space men burning up upon re-entry to the cosmos, I'd have to say that when it comes to psych, I'm hardly a qualified scholar.
