Fine car. The 65 Imperial was legendary. It gave Cadillac and Lincoln a run for its money. Good video.
I remember in 1965 my dad and I went down to the local Chrysler dealership in Minneapolis and he bought the Imperial with the black beauty package. Since it was January he had them put snow tires on it with regular steel wheels and they stuffed the mag wheels in the trunk next to all the extra ordnance for the weapons. Right from the start, you could see how much my dad loved that automobile. He and my uncle would drive around the neighborhood drinking beer shooting and blowing up stuff, oh the fun they had with that car. Then one night my mom walked into the garage where she found my older brother banging the neighbor chick in that Imperials big back seat. She made my father trade the car in and he ended up with a four-door Nova. As for my brother, my dad never forgave him. He took my brother out and got him drunk had my name is Dolores tattooed on his forehead and shipped him off to my other uncle in Kentucky.
Anthony Nelson your story timeline is totally wrong. You said your dad bought a 65 Imperial in January with the Black Beauty package. The black beauty is a 1966 Imperial. Dean Jeffries was commissioned to build the Black Beauty in April of 1966, and he delivered the first Black Beauty 4 Weeks later in May. Filming then began shortly after for the September debut of The Green Hornet. By September the 1967 model year of the Imperial would be in showrooms, there is no way that there was any Black Beauty package made available to the public, and especially one that had live weaponry. Nice story but not accurate.
I must be the only person in the world whole didnt mind the Green Hornet movie
i liked it.
I liked it, and know one of the guys contacted to collect and build the screen car BLACK BEAUTY units!
We talked for hours about these cars. Enjoy!
One of my all time favorite TV cars!!
You make the cars and the stories famous again. Great shots. Congrats to you and your team.
this was my dream car back when i was in my childhood
Without a doubt your channel is one of my favorite subscriptions. Keep up the great work man!
Wow I've heard of the show but never seen it or the car.. It's awesome if I had the money I'd buy it in a heart beat!
The Black Beauty was the only good thing about Rogen's Green Hornet movie.
Agree
GREAT CAMERA AND EDITING WORK IN THIS VIDEO.
P.S. OF COURSE - BLACK BEAUTY IS ALSO AWESOME !!!
BADASS! I want one. Perfect for the zombie apocalypse
Cool car!
The TV series actually transformed a 1966 Imperial to this Green Hornet Car.....I owned a 65 Imperial Crown Coupe...triple black and stunning....my family wanted me to call her The Black Beauty.....I didnt want to do that.....My Car was a perfect example of a 65.....I named her National Velvet.....it was on her front bumper on a license place.....I called her that due to her stately stance and beauty.....
i liked the original , that was a classy looking car , i seen one at a car show. Beauitful car.
Butterfly doors? I never knew that for central hinged doors thanks. I'm not a fan of the Green Hornet, but I do think the car is amazing as indeed was a 1965 Imperial in general.
I think butterfly doors are actually like the doors on Lamborghini's or the car in back in the future where they come up in the air
Yes, I've usually used the term 'Suicide Doors' as per the 1960s Lincoln Continental.
Yeah me too
Many coachbuilt pre-war 4 door phaetons and cabriolets were made with B-pillar mounted front/rear doors.
I am 99.99% sure I know where the other car is at. Volo Auto Museum in Volo, IL. I think you should go there. Trust me.
V-194 the original black beauty from the green hornet tv series..
The one he said is for sale is BB2 not the original BLACK BEAUTY
This car is NOT a "Chrysler". It is an IMPERIAL, plain and simple.
The IMPERIAL was SPUN OFF of the Chrysler Division, and registered as a SEPARATE MAKE in 1955. Thus, it is an IMPERIAL...NOT a "Chrysler Imperial".
IMPERIAL was ALWAYS listed SEPARATELY from Chrysler in ALL advertising...because from 1955 on, it was NOT a "Chrysler AT ALL. Here's more proof :1) Forward Look 1959 commercials from the Fred Astaire show 2) www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Marque/index.htm 3) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_(automobile)
Correct, from 1955-75 Imperial was a separate marque or division designed to compete with Lincoln & Cadillac.
This is the comment i came here to make
The second one should be called BB2 because there is and only be one BLACK BEAUTY and that's from the 60s tv show
The doors are my favorite part
So, for that movie there were around 30 1965 Imperials that were destroyed? That's pretty sad. Imperials are rare to begin with. Production in any given year was about a 10th of the production of Cadillac in the same year.
Anyway, I could care less about The Green Hornet series or movie. I grew up in the late 60s and the 70s, but never even heard of The Green Hornet till I was in my late 40s maybe. So I never heard about the movie till just a couple years ago, and didn't care. None of it means a thing to me. That said, that car is pretty bad-a__, which is why I watched this video. My opinions only. Feel free to differ, lol.
Where did the car ever go after this video?
Do: 63 Jeep Gladiator (Tremors), 1950 Mercury Monterey (Cobra), Lincoln Continental Mark III (The Car), Dodge Charger R/T 440 (Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry).
got it. thank you :)

I love your shots! How the hell did you get your hands on this car?!
thanks! just got out there to look for cars :)
The original Black Beauty was a work of art... this thing is an abomination.
Not a bad price, but I'm from Massachusetts and those guns would have to only be able to hold 10 rounds each max to be legal and would only be able to shoot one bullet at a time. The flame thrower might be okay, I will have to check with our wonderful AG.
Anyone who calls this car a "Chrysler" Imperial knows little or nothing about this car’s history: The Imperial STARTED life as a Chrysler model in 1926, but in 1955, it was SPUN OFF of the Chrysler Division , and was registered as a SEPARATE , DISTINCT MAKE, NOT BEARING THE "CHRYSLER " NAME at all. It didn't even bear the VIN number of a Chrysler.
Why was the IMPERIAL split off from Chrysler ? Because the two cars competed in two entirely DIFFERENT price classes. CHRYSLER was a upper-medium-priced car, comparable to BUICK and MERCURY.... whereas IMPERIAL was a high-class , high-priced luxury car, comparable to CADILLAC and LINCOLN. The "Chrysler" name CHEAPENED the IMPERIAL , and gave it a medium-class stigma. So, in 1955 , the decision was made to SPIN-OFF the IMPERIAL into it's OWN BRAND/MAKE/ DIVISION, so it could better compete in the price class that it was CREATED for in the FIRST PLACE . Thus , the term "Chrysler Imperial" is ERRONEOUS .
**WANT PROOF ?** you've GOT it !!

Very good point., williamg2552. Thank you for aknowledging that big, yet seemingly small difference- apparently not noticed by most of these people. During the 50's & 60's CHRYSLER was to IMPERIAL as FORD is to LINCOLN.....separate. Chrysler also tried that with the Valiant in 1960- I think Virgil Exner had a hand in that; given the fact that the first 'unique' design of Valiants was all his work.
Why do you need to sell that? Its Beautiful 😐😐😐😐
Uncle SMOOTH drove the same car
Black Beauty did not have guns. Rogen's movie made a mockery of the GREEN HORNET. MY OPINION.
what are the names of the songs, please provide. thanks

Anybody who calls the IMPERIAL a 'Chrysler" has no knowledge of this car's actual history , and should take the time to read up on it . The IMPERIAL was a SEPARATE MAKE from Chrysler, and remained so for 23 years !!!
from 1955 on, it was NOT referred to as a "Chrysler" in ANY advertising in newspapers, magazines, radio ads, or television. It was simply an IMPERIAL.
As a separate make, IMPERIAL had it's OWN models: The CUSTOM, The CROWN, and the top-line super-luxury LE BARON. (not to be confused with the later, cheaper, "Chrysler" Lebaron.)
It did not even carry the VIN number of a Chrysler ....because it was NOT one. It carried it's OWN DISTINCT VIN NUMBER...identifying the IMPERIAL as a SEPARATE MAKE. From Wikipedia :
"For the 1955 model year, the Imperial was launched and registered as a separate marque (make), APART from the Chrysler brand. It was a product of the new IMPERIAL DIVISION of Chrysler Corporation***, meaning that the Imperial would be a make and division UNTO ITSELF, and NOT bear the Chrysler name. Chrysler Corporation sent notices to all state licensing agencies in the then-48 states that the Imperial, beginning in 1955, would NO LONGER be registered as a Chrysler, but as a SEPARATE MAKE "
williamg2552 ...ok
And it spent a good part of its life from 55 on as an 'Imperial' with a few different models unto the Imperial name; not to mention those beautiful ' gunsight' taillights......a legend in automotive history for 'those in the know' ; well until Chrysler decided to drag it back under the 'Chrysler umbrella'.....something to do with 'not making enough profit' on their own...??? Again thankyou for straightening that out 'williamg2552'.
In the dealer promo film, it is referred to as the incomparable Imperial vintage 1965.
1964 Chrysler corporation.
Yes, The IMPERIAL was made by Chrysler Corporation.
But it was NOT a Chrysler, any more than Dodge, DeSoto, or Plymouth were Chryslers. LINCOLN was made by the Ford Motor Company. But it was NOT a Ford.
It's a steal at 165k. Green Hornet and Kato had bad boy sex appeal, Batman and Robin... not so much.
I've never even HEARD of it - the original or the 'Sony Remake'. One of the advantages of a privileged upbringing, apparently...
Oh, come on , bunny-come back to the real world, babe.....we miss you.😊👍👍
And the car ,the car 1977, Ford Mak 3 Lincon , Jorge Barry,
they're suicide doors not butterfly
This is JUST an Imperial.......Chrysler did spin them off in the mid fifties and didnt bring the Imperial back under the Chrysler umbrella til much later.
Jaja tengo el mismo. En GtaV ! Ps3
160k is less than it should be for that car
"For the 1955 model year, the Imperial was launched and registered as a
separate marque (make), apart from the Chrysler brand. It was a product
of the new Imperial Division of Chrysler Corporation, meaning that the Imperial would be a make and division unto itself, and not bear the Chrysler name.[1][4]
Chrysler Corporation sent notices to all state licensing agencies in
the then-48 states that the Imperial, beginning in 1955, would no longer
be registered as a Chrysler, but as a separate make " - Wikipedia.
I'd love to find some protesters in this car
>>------------------------------------> I never thought a movie could suck and blow at the same time! Rogan's Green Hornet movie did. They dishonored the television series, the story and Bruce Lee -- shamefully! The movie's car was too cartoon-ish too. The original Black Beauty was elegant and more refined as Green Hornet's vehicle.
Only 165k? That's a STEAL!
The original was soooo much better! The movie version was barely customized and about as good as the movie!
This isn't the original. Still beautiful, it's from the Seth Rogain blasphemous crap.
Agree or Disagree the Black Beauty should be a 64 Chevy Impala, 1965 Buick Rivera, 70's Chevy Monte Carlo, 60's Cadillac or a 60's Suicide Door Lincoln Continental
Probably the Lincoln...
Christopher, shave it off it looks ridiculous
Rea/ iriginal.l black beauty green hornet ; not a fake one
