I have seen many many concerts in my life but Mi-Sex was far and away the best live act I’ve seen.
Awesome to hear these live again. It feels like yesterday, 1980, and Mi-sex was the best part.
This brings back so many happy memories of MiSex at the Crystal Ballroom in St Kilda…thank you for posting this…Steve Gilpin taken far too soon RIP 🙌

How BRILLIANT!
I'm so glad this footage exists. Mi-Sex are one of my favourite bands, hugely influential on me and my own music, but I never got to see them live. The version of the band that's touring now does look cool but it's only got 1 original member now (and only ever had 2) so it's just not the same. Those first 3 albums are all classics. They're thought of as a new wave band but they were more than that. They had roots in prog rock and that comes through, especially on Space Race and Shanghaid. They were also theatrical when most new wave bands weren't. They were one of a kind.

After Ultravox song I believe yes Kevin Stanton was a guitar god Steve had such charisma
Certainly an image change Steve Gilpin had - before Misex he was a cabaret singer in New Zealand - long hair, moustache and often wearing tailored suits, singing a variety of MOR songs.

thank you! I've been putting together the setlist for this gig for Setlist FM going off the tour videos and this gig and I believe we have our first space race tour setlist potentially complete and wow the lazerlights on Ghosts is amazing
it genuinely beats me how mi-sex are so underrated

I believe it was recorded at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on 10th October 1980, though I stand to be corrected.
