Classic Game Room reviews JAWBREAKER for Atari 2600 from Tigervision released in 1982, a dental health vs. sugar rush Pac-Man clone!
I’m watching this again today, and I am ever impressed with how good your RUclips videos sound. Great job Mark! I personally think you need to come back and make game review videos again from the intergalactic space arcade!
Was refreshing home page over and over in hope of CGR and lo and behold, it happened! Thanks, Mark!
Jawbreaker was originally designed for the PC and other home computers. I have the C-64 cassette version (thats how old school I am!) but the 2600 version plays faster and doesn't have any (bad) background music.
That's something you don't hear everyday! The 2600 version does look awesome and will definitely keep my eyes open for it!
The Game Room Variety Show Thanks! Keep up the great reviews!
The last special Classic Game Room was the review of Metroid II for the Game Boy. And he was able to punk the viewers in that video.
Cool, at least we can now post RUclips links in the comments.
Classic Game Room - METROID II: RETURN OF SAMUS review for Game Boy
Jawbreaker is a great game. I think also that this version is better playable than the C64 version.
Yes, cleaning the teeth saves a lot... Too much candy isn't so good either!
We had the Commodore Vic-20 version. The graphics look pretty much the same, but it had background music (the "Can Can" before you can eat the jawbreakers and "In the Hall of the Mountain King" when you could eat them, if I remember correctly). Also, I believe the Vic-20 version was published by Sierra On-Line.
Oh, pardon, looking at RUclips videos of the VIC-20 version, the graphics aren't that similar, everything's bigger, but there are only 5 rows and you can't move up and down the sides of the screen.
Mark you were the King of RUclips video game reviews!
This reminds me of "Gamester81"'s upcoming game for the Colecovision. One of the stages in that game resembles this game a lot!
BTW I noticed a recent Pop video playing in the food court at my nearby mall that had a kid in an old electronics shop and he was quite clearly playing a Vectrex. When I noticed this I started paying more atention to the video and the Vectrex shows up quite a bit in the video and the closing shot of the video is a close up of the legendary console itself. The text was too small for when they id'ed the video so I'm not sure who the band was. Figured I'd pass that along.
I never had a jawbreaker, but my bro loves 'em. I LOVE Lemonheads, though.
The reverb is simply fantastic.
The Intergalactic Space Arcade has got one hell of a nice natural reverb.
You should review the "wonderful" R-Zone console by a Tiger! It's a interesting fail. I just picked one up in good condition on eBay for about $30!
Ha! searched just now on eBay for one and the one i clicked on started playing Weird Al's song eBay lolol
Hahaha not exactly the R-Zone I was talking bout but ok! lol
*****
Lol I didn't see that but I guess I'm lucky coz the only console I see now is sealed for like $160 so good for me :D lol
Jawbreaker, also available as a delicious candy and a kickass Judas Priest song!
Can't believe there were so few references to priest on here.
Love that music at the end.
Wow; I used to play this all the time but totally forgot that fact until right now!
Thinking of how much you like the Atari 2600 controllers made me think an Atari 2600 paddle controller best games video would be pretty bad ass!
Like the red cartridge now want it for my collection.
Man I love your reviews!
Thanks for another awesome 2600 review! Off to eBay to find this game, curses.
Man that seems like a fun game. I wouldn't mind playing it now!
the new intro is great
How do you get such a good picture?
Hey Mark what kinda turntable is that? Looks like a rega planet.
What are the names of the background songs used in this game?
Ed, Edd, n Eddy would love this game.
Me encanta como los juegos de atari cambian los colores cuando se juegan solos.
I love atari, but my new TV doesn't have a cable input. Is there a way to make it rgb?
Next, review the classic arcade game Polybius! ;-D
Love the outro
Mark are u gonna Review Batman Origins?
Great review! Years of gummi bears has prepared you, lol.
I've got to get this game!
the Jaw breakers kind of look like, Master Control, from Tron
this game looks a lot of fun to play!
Jawbreaker is a better Pac-Man game than the Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man.
Someday I want to have my own classic game room minus a show cause I'm not as personable as Mark. I love collecting old videogames.
Does anybody know whether it is some kind of change on youtube which is preventing leaving of comments on older videos? For example I look at older ClassicGameRoom videos and there is no reply button. Same for my own videos, and I am pretty sure it is not something on my side.
You can't reply on comments that were left before the new system was implemented. The new system keeps looking better and better!
There are jaw breakers where I live too..
greets from Germany
moonji Munji I'm fine.. thanks :D
theres jawbreaker 2 but not for 2600 def collectable hight cost on ebay
What I don't understand was why Tiger decided to make crappy LCD handheld and wrist games instead of continuing to make original console games back in the day?
Can I buy this game?
I have the same shirt that mark is wearing! :D
we call jawbreakers "gob stoppers" over here xD
Where?
No, it's cool because Mark said it's cool!
on the cusp of next gen but who cares...
CGR FOREVER!
Omg those spinning faces look 3D
Lord Karnage, please bestow unto us the gift of a review of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, or REZ. We will be so grateful for your gift of amusement, that we would have no choice but to send stuff to you!
As THE Dreamcastguy I second this motion. Please review THPS 2 on the Dreamcast!
Holy, I had this game.
im not seeing the tooth brush...
It comes up after you clear the board, it's the red red line thingy that moves horizontally on the middle of the screen.
That toothbrush didn't look like tooth brush at first :o
Kinda hard to believe this cost 100 million to develop, sold 10 million copies, and Tiger still claims Jawbreaker wasn't profitable.
They look like huge Evil Ottos, and deadlier.
Rave Time (Lord Carnage style) 5:04
wow this dude is SUPER COOL!!!!
We'd know 'jawbreakers' as 'gobstoppers' in Britain. I've no idea what they'd be called in Qatar.
Atari
Mark please grow a beard and then review it
This game is possibly Ed Edd n' Eddy's nightmares.
it is "never" too late to start
One of the greatest labels ever printed.
God bless the ignorance if the late 20th Century . . .
Now if you excuse me - I'm gonna go listen to some Priest.
Awesome
That's my game! Aww yeah! []
If this was a Pacman clone Atari would have been all over it, with lawsuits as long as the freeway.
we're not crediting atari with pacman now are we?
No, just the 2600 version of it,has they did license it from Namco. Plus Atari were Lawsuit crazy back in the day. They had K.C munchkin banned becos it looked and played similar to Pacman on the 2600. So i do credit them for the 2600 version.
(5:08) Acid.
Jawbreaker is on xbox one
*daily fix*
All the memories I have from my first console the Atari 2600 was pure disappointment pac-man sucked, every game sucked. So I rather say the SMS was my first real console.
That awkward moment you realize he's sitting alone in a storage unit playing 30 year old video games. Yikes.
GOD DAMNED GINGIVITIS
Looks way harder than pacman
ALL HAIL LORD KARNAGE
In sovit russia, jawbreaker eats YOU!!!
Those fucking errors!!!
