Great review, I barely remember playing Juno First in the 80's, I dont think it was distributed heavily to the arcades back then. Too bad its a forgotten game now. The guys at Atariage are coming out with some amazing games lately. Juno First is a 32K game, something that couldn't be created in the 80's. They are able now to create 2600 cartridges with up to 128K of flash memory and 64K of RAM!
***** I know it's crazy! Check out the YT reviews of Atariage games "Space Rocks" or "D K VCS Donkey Kong Remake" to see how far they are pushing this technology now.
Just bought a copy of this as I'ma huge fan of the original. It plays like a dream!! Compared to the MSX version I also have - the 2600 really holds its own. Love it!
ThaKillaComa First off ya piss ant I'm not doing what you and your friends coined as "ballriding" My CGR stands for Classic Gamer Reviews, while their CGR stands for Classic Game Room which are two different things. Second, I enjoy Classic Game Room a lot and am a big fan of their work so I think I'm allowed to post whatever and whereever I want to. And Last i think you should go and ballride someones videos because if anything your videos need it as the piss poor content you've been making would be more at home next to the garbage.
This is one of the your first reviews I've seen and I loved it! I'll be sure to check out more. I don't usually like video reviews, by the way, but this takes me back to my childhood days in the 90's (even if this is from the 80's but still).
Hair tessellation, destructible environments, perpetual worlds, streaming games, and the like are impressive. I feel, however, that homebrews for classic hardware of this quality, especially with the earlier, more 'limited' stuff like the Atari 2600, is just as awesome. Thinking outside the box is good; thinking outside the box inside a really small box is better. I think...
I just love how honest and genuine mark is in these reviews. this is game that isn't highly praised at all, it isn't very known at all, and yet just by playing he concludes it's one of the bests on the atari 2600, without any influence from outside opinions. it's just another example of how real he his, there are many other videos that prove this
This is one fine home brew - definitely will be trying to get a copy of this. In Juno First when you grab the man after shooting the planet you get a bonus for each enemy you run into. Yes I have it on a multi-board as well, I used to play it back in the day and play it quite regularly. I'll have to sort you out with a copy of my next home brew title for the Colecovision.
32k! That's crazy for a 2600 game. Some of the biggest back in the day were 8k. I knew something was up when I heard the music and then saw the game on motion. 2600 games didn't look and sound like that in the 70's and 80's.
I love atariage!!!! Currently I am playing Princess Rescue and Space Rocks. Both are pretty damn amazing. I also have a copy of boulder dash 2600 that is simply masterful! Thanks Mark!!
This is really slick... An Atari VCS game that really looks like an actual '80s arcade game. Really nice programming and some innovative usage of the 2600 hardware. The design reminds me of Solaris.
Definitely great game without a doubt. But I think a lot of folks are forgetting about a really older game called Solaris which was pushing Atari 2600 limits even way back then.
Mark, are you aware of the stylized Atari's and Genesis' Target is currently selling? They come preloaded with about 80 games! I'd love to see you review them; I thought of you the moment I saw them.
NO JUST NO!! The sound in them is GOD Awful when compared to a real Genesis, or even a good emulator with correct settings, lets not get me started on the included SHIT!! controllers, and the Atari clone consoles have horrible build quality(Atari Flashback 3 mainly), I know this from owning them. WASTE OF FUCKING MONEY!!! there is your FUCKING REVIEW!!
Commodorefan64 I think I can probably agree with that without even trying those things. That sort of thing is usually cheap and not well made. Had an NES one awhile back, pretty junky, easily broke... whereas my actual, ancient NES (a toploader) is nearly indestructible. The manufacturers probably think they can get away with it because retro fans arent REAL gamers, right? And there's no way we know much about product quality since we like old stuff that breaks anyway... *rolls eyes*
Commodorefan64 Needs more El Caminos with truxton and Vectrex references on the side, and a bit of cosmic carnage on top. And it would be fantastic with some giant robots blowing each other up on a colecovision game with backwards compatibility with the intellivision for good measure. Leave it to the pro's like Mark to review it. :)
Makes you wonder why didnt the developers take more time for intro music in the 80's on the 2600??? Only if more games like this one has been produced.
What if.... in Mark's dimension... all space shooters are actually war simulations and mark is actually preparing to go to war with aliens... Oh, and Mark is a space outlaw.... cool
I wish you have the AtariVox. It adds radio chatter into the game when plugged into the Player 2 port. It's a great game without it, though. I'll have to buy it when I have the money.
Atari? Life? Nah. I'd call them down right immortal. THIS is why games were fun; the simplicity of enjoyment while basing everything on the player's skill level, not...faulty controls, or BS. Games like these are easy to make compared to the graphical titans nowadays, and people old and new will enjoy these gems alike
Atariage. com is an amazing website! If you're even remotely into retro gaming, Atari or otherwise, head over to the forums and create an account! And check out the store, where you can find awesome games like this. There's even a game called Princess Rescue, which is basically Super Mario Bros. for the Atari 2600. It looks incredible!
I clicked the link for this video and a picture of Adolf Hitler flashed in the video window........ not sure what that implies...... and I am being serious..... unless that's RUclips having a brain fart.
I really like the look of this game but I just can't see how it has anything to do with the movie. Clearly this is another one of those 2600 games where the game was nothing like the movie. Juno had nothing to do with spaceships. It was all about pregnancy. Unless the spaceship is a dick shooting sperm at some eggs. Other than that it looks and plays great and this is a great review. Keep it up. (see what I did there? a dick joke.)
All of a sudden you start make this videos with age restrictions. I have been enjoying your videos for about a year now and i cant watch this videos. Please fix this

this game really seems to be pushing the limits of the atari, impressive
damn your right!
ClassicGamerReviews
way to spell, no spell
ClassicGamerReviews quit ballriding cgr lmao fuck outta here with your wannabe ass

Watching this again because I love the music! If only they could bring this to the Vectrex ! That's it I'm going to work on that.
That music in the beginning is amazing. Like, the best Atari2600 music I've ever heard.
This is one of the your first reviews I've seen and I loved it! I'll be sure to check out more. I don't usually like video reviews, by the way, but this takes me back to my childhood days in the 90's (even if this is from the 80's but still).
This is amazing. Blows almost all 2600 games out of the water.
I loved Juno First in the arcades. I saw very few of them, but always loved them.
Thanks for posting this. Juno First was also released on the MSX and other platforms in the early 1980s.
I love that clean horizontal line scrolling in order to create a depth of field. Nice review . . .
That tune is originally from the game Silkworm.
THAT'S what that tune was?! I knew I'd heard it on the Amiga decades ago and have been wracking my brain trying to remember...
Thanks for the hours of entertainment Mark! Glad that the show will continue!
I got the distinct feeling that the music from Juno First was on its way to my apartment to kick my ass.
That intro music is awesome!

I think...
It’s really a shame that this channel stopped putting out video game vids

i honour your statement, profile avatar and the music to this game..rrrrrespekt!
This is one fine home brew - definitely will be trying to get a copy of this.

I keep coming back for the music!
That music is gonna be stuck in my head for days.
If you like this song check out the song from Layla K .. Ca Plane pour moi.. it's a edm song from the 90's sound very similar
This looks and sounds really great!

Great music; something that I think would sound great waking up to.

That song from the Title screen reminds me of the 90's EDM song from Layla K.. Ca Plane Pour Moi !!
Oh my god THAT MUSIC! That's coming out of the 2600?!!
loving that music
This is one of my favorite arcade games.
This is really ahead of its time for the hardware limitations.
OMG that music is banging!!!!
Sweet, I really wanna play this.
Definitely great game without a doubt. But I think a lot of folks are forgetting about a really older game called Solaris which was pushing Atari 2600 limits even way back then.
Those are some fairly heavy riffs, but I'm disappointed there wasn't any headbanging.
I got a 276-1 mulicade cocktail machine with Juno First on it, and it is addicting as all hell! Just grab a brew, it's gonna be a long night!
WOW amazing tunes!
The graphics and sound are pretty amazing for the 2600.
Mark, are you aware of the stylized Atari's and Genesis' Target is currently selling? They come preloaded with about 80 games! I'd love to see you review them; I thought of you the moment I saw them.
Id like to see a review also, because if they are good im buying them both
NO JUST NO!! For greatest menu screen music, see Supercars 2 on Amiga. Truly epic.
Shit, that title screen music was pretty impressive for the 2600!
Finally some home brew coverage , For a supposed big Atari fan Mark ignores a huge library of modern incredible games.
that arcade music rocks, needs to be made into a metal song
I have a game on my ZX Spectrum called 'Silkworm' with that same music.
Classic Game Room and AVGN should make a video togheter :D
now, THIS IS A GAME! freaking awesome! :D
awesome game i wonder if DEVO did the sound for this it sure sounds like them Juno first is awesome
Mark, your "banished from Earth" vocals are like twice as loud as the rest of the video!
Look at that arm! I wonder if Mark has been working out =)
Is this that game where you're a pregnant high schooler and you're trying to get with Scott Pilgrim?
So which is better, the Truxton record or the intro music to Juno First?
I used to use Juno for my ISP.
This game looks like Solaris on the same system and released in 1987!
Makes you wonder why didnt the developers take more time for intro music in the 80's on the 2600??? Only if more games like this one has been produced.
OH MAN I LOVE JUNO 2
What if.... in Mark's dimension... all space shooters are actually war simulations and mark is actually preparing to go to war with aliens...
Oh, and Mark is a space outlaw.... cool
WOOO CGR!!!!!!!!!!
This is a great game. There is an indicator to refuel, but I haven't been able to figure out how.
I wish you have the AtariVox. It adds radio chatter into the game when plugged into the Player 2 port. It's a great game without it, though.

Wow. It only took 30 years to make an Atari game that looks like fun? Can't wait to see what we can do with the hardware in another 20.
Obviously you're really not much of a gamer.
It is a great game. I remember playing it, I should fin fair PCB for it.

i think the guy who made princess rescue got in a heap of legal troubles.
zenuke It was just a cease and desist letter for selling the game on cartridge. The rom is freely available to play.
The title should be "Pinbot First"
Quite impressive indeed.
The view count is stuck at 666... I have decided that, that is fucking awesome for no particular reason.
Actually, this games theme is for "Silkworm"
Is it bad that I have memorized the Intro to these episodes.
Awesome
This was a 2010 atari game, not an actual 80s game? I mean 80s atari 2600 game> I heard they were making new ones a few years ago.
I feel the name puts Truxton above number values.
incredible. i got it for msx, but this one is nicer. Well, and newer xD
Wouldn't "Juno First" imply that Fairbanks is second?
Nice and great game
Why is his Channel named lord karnage?
hi yes i played juno first on a tabletop machine i got over 500.0000 points!!!
kick ass game!!
JUNO FIRST NEED A SOUNDTRACK AND A RINGTONE...
plz make it happen
Nice
Is it at 1080p 60fps? LOL
this music is f**king ace.
Really dissappointing that it was a 2010 homebrew! I thought it came out during the system's time... but it looked too... big for that...
Looks a little like Moonsweeper.
I clicked the link for this video and a picture of Adolf Hitler flashed in the video window........ not sure what that implies...... and I am being serious..... unless that's RUclips having a brain fart.

CGR 4EVA!
+R33Racer you jinxed it
Entire world is talking about PS4 and XBOX ONE.... but NOOOOOOOOOO Lord Karnage is playing Atari 2600
Aisling O' Connor Loves you
Atari 2600 pushed to its limit
All those awful comb filtering artifacts, argh. You really need to keep a CRT around for the classic console reviews. Or a better LCD.
someone should send custer's revenge and beat em and eat em to mark!
All of a sudden you start make this videos with age restrictions. I have been enjoying your videos for about a year now and i cant watch this videos. Please fix this
you might like psytrance (electronic music genre) heres a track /watch?v=07u9qk52QgA
Juno First: A game that looks like Defenders
Resogun: A game inspired by Defenders
I REALLY NEED TO PLAY DEFENDERS!!!
I know! I hear a lot about Defenders lately!
I can't decide if that game's music is the most awesome or ear-piercingly horrid thing I've ever heard.
So conflicted.
it's the most awesome thing i've ever heard
An Atari game shouldn't sound this good. What crazy madness is this?!
This looks to advanced to be an atari game cx
have you seen a little girl around here
