Gotta say it again, STAR WARS THE ARCADE GAME. And!!! Just tested it today on the 2600+ and it works!!! Get it, live it, love it.
Oooo! I’m glad you mentioned it again! Thank you. I’ll have a look. I just bought Solar Storm again because my original one that I got in a lot never worked. That’s a great game too. I’ll have a peek at that one. The C64 version was pretty darned good too, so the Atari version has to be decent right? That Jedi Arena though… yuck. Haha!
I was impressed with the 2600 one. For what it is. Never played any other version, outside of trying it in the arcade in 83 because my friend was crazy about it. I lost interest in videogames at that point for a few years. (As an aside).

Prices are a bit on the low side. HERO, my favourite game, is worth much more than $74.... 50 years old, and this console is still tops!

That's Pricecharting.com's numbers, not mine HAHA! If I sold my loose copy of HERO right now, and mine is very nice, I'd be asking at least $85 US. I actually saw a loose one at a con recently at $110 US! 😀 Thanks. for the comment, mate- it's much appreciated! (I have albums here in the studio you can't see on camera- more Megadeth and Maiden (Up the Irons!) and AC/DC! Yeah!!!)

I had this game for years and played it wrong until a friend showed me the right way. Now I can play it for hours. So fun!
Frankenstein’s Monster is another fantastic game that everyone should own.

Where does one find Stargate for 17 bucks? The lowest I could find on ebay went for 45.
That was a Pricecharting.com value. I actually saw it at CORGSCON Expo in Columbus for $25 in really good shape a couple weeks ago. Prices vary and change, of course- and that video is over 5 months old. I do wish you luck on your quest though.
Side note: I did get a great deal on Frankenstein’s Monster for 2600! Got it for $10 and it’s usually $50-$68 (ish). The PCB was loose inside that the guy didn’t want to pierce the label to repair it so he oped to give someone daring a good deal. I repaired it easily without piercing the label and re-glued it back in place. There are serendipitous deals out there! Ha-Za! 😁😎
Why are some of the 2600 games so friggin expensive (eg., hero, star trek, pitfall 2, beamrider, etc)?
Rarity & popularity unfortunately. Just like other games. HERO is the priciest one on the list, and I have seen it for about $55. But it keeps going up.

It’s been a looooong time since I played that one. I had it when I was a kid, but I think I traded it to a friend at school or my cousin for another game if I recall correctly. This is a video about must haves for the 2600+ but some games you didn’t include because you use a Retron 77 to capture them? Why not wait until you can capture with the plus? Also, Juno First does work but good look finding a copy or Beamrider for less than $60
Why not wait? Well, if you watched the video, you’d see that these were taken from a series of FIVE videos that began about three months BEFORE the 2600+ was released. This video is all of those videos combined including some updates. By the time you get to the 5th set of ten in the video, I was using the 2600+, I said so too.
Also, who said a fun game had to be less than $60? I’m sure you have some Xbox One games or PS4 games… did you pay over $4 for any of those? Values are right there on the screen. My intention was to show fun games, not just cheap games. Additionally, I’m allowed to show exactly what I want to. Furthermore, who said there wouldn’t be more?
It’s sad that someone can’t make a fun and funny video that’s innocuous without someone coming out of the shadows to cast darkness and negativity with their comments. Takes all kinds I guess.
I wanted to mention also, that I didn’t include EVERY essential game because I don’t own ALL of them, nor have I played the entire 2600 library. Have you? I have SEVERAL actual 2600s in my home and a way to capture footage if need be. I choose HDMI consoles when possible for fidelity’s sake.
Plus, after this video was filmed, I obtained several more GREAT games that may be in a Part 6! If I chose to make one. It is my channel after all.

Tried multiple carts on the 2600+. Only issue so far is background interference noise on pitfall. ( crackling sound) No issue with my cart on an original 2600. Anyone else having this problem?

I didn't have any issues except that I had to clean mine. It boots up Everytime in my 7800 but I noticed that they seem to be a bit more finicky in my 2600+ but I haven't heard anybody else say that.
Yeah, the 2600+ is being updated to address the issues with 7800 games. There’s a beta out now, but I’d wait until it’s public. 👍🏻😎😀

So these were all recorded on the Retron? Why didn't you just record them on the 2600+? Also, do you have a similar video about 7800 games on the 2600+?
The 2600+ hadn’t been released yet when these were recorded. The first 4 videos of 10 games each were released as a “Get these for your Atari 2600+” video. The 5th video, all were recorded on the 2600+. And there was a bonus game that made 51 total (Stargate) that had finally been tested on 2600+ as working by me and Atari. That makes the full 51 games.
There will be one more video of 10 Atari 2600 games coming soon and then there will be a 7800 games video coming soon too. 😎😂

That looks like Breakout, not Super Breakout.
Yes, good catch. I misspoke during the filming, but they played the same on the Retron. It’s why I mentioned that in Text Overlay as both Breakout and Super Breakout work on 2600+ but not on Retron.
Can you play Star Path SuperCharger games on it? Communist mutants from space is great.
Unfortunately no. I know someone who has all of those games and the supercharger, and it doesn’t work.

Counterpoint...there are no must have Atari 2600 games. They've all aged horribly
But every game can be Call of Duty or Halo. While they did age, they’re not games you play for hours on end. They’re subtle time wasters now. Arcade quickies. Everyone has their tastes and obviously, it’s not for you and that is fine. That’s why you and I play newer games now. But nostalgia does win the day for many people.
