Set in a small Orlando-adjacent town in 1992, this dark comedy series stars Kirsten Dunst as Krystal Stubbs, a minimum-wage water park employee who lies, schemes and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise (FAM)-the cultish, flag-waving, multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme that drove her family to ruin in the first place. Determined to make a better life for herself, Krystal dives deep into FAM, until her business begins to affect those closest to her.
This series was worth 3 showtime shows. Whoever decided to walk back the production after Covid definitely lost the company millions. The cast alone made the series top tier.

Never realized Kirsten Dunst was so funny
I couldn't agree with you more. I loved season 1 of Yellowjackets ,but season 2 was a flaming pile of turds. And it piggybacked off of Lord of the flies. On becoming a God was an original, AND had a strong female lead. This being cancelled broke my Kirsten Dunst loving heart. Theodore Pellerin is pretty amazing too.
I don't watch any new series now. I wait until there are many seasons. They cancel everything that is good and leave the story hanging.
It's a shame Kirsten Dunst doesn't have an Oscar. She's an impressive actress.

She should've been nominated for Melancholia. The fact that she won Cannes Film Festival Best Actress but was snubbed totally for Best Actress Oscar was a total crime. In my honest opinion, Melancholia is her best performance in her career and this series is her best performance since Melancholia

I was born into a family which has been enthusiastic MLM business distributors. Now as an adult and out of those scam system (including my family), this series look so accurate that I almost got flash back. trust me, never ever get involved. I had no friends as a kid.

This show getting cancelled was a crime. HBO should’ve picked it up from the very beginning, anyways.

My husband got roped into joining an MLM when he was about 19. His friend needed some people to sign up under him and my husband agreed and went to some of the mandatory presentations and group meetings at the start. When he stopped going they showed up at his house unexpectedly to confront him and try persuade him to come back. So cultish and weird. 😂😭
This show is fantastic and I HIGHLY recommend! Everyone needs to know about these crap business practices. Aside from the awesome premise, the show is great with the right touch of humour and fantastic acting.

Many of the frauds behind these schemes in the 90's are now behind bars. Netflix has documentaries which covers this and so does Dr. Phil. I am surprised no one has not gotten and gotten violent with these crooks.

This show was a gem. It's such a bummer that it won't go beyond season 1.
Cannot believe this has 600 dislikes... ridiculous. This is one of the best shows I have ever seen. PLEASE, SEASON TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Showtime canceled this in October and I didn't even know until last night. PLEASE. Another network, pick this up, and continue season 2.
There's still a lot of these "network marketing" pyramid scheme cults around: Herbalife, Forever Living products etc.. Those dislikes are not coming from average viewers, they're coming from offended "future millionaires" :D
Idk. Its not bad but not that good the cinematography and acting, authenticity and everything its great but the story... there is not a big story and the characters are very incoherent and confusing and un relatable. The only reason i am watching is because of Kirsten's great acting

As she gets further entrapped into the world of FAM she starts to realize that nobody but the top 0.003 percent is really making any money on this and getting out is near impossible.
There's plenty of a story.
I still love Kirsten. Ever since she played Mary Jane and was in that Bring it On movie.

Showtime fuckin up as always cancelling this amazing show. They cut short great shows before the fully blossom and drag out other shows that should’ve ended 2-4 seasons early (Dexter, Weeds,Homeland) Showtime is the master of great first 1-3 seasons than just takes a nosedive in quality somewhere in the mid seasons. That’s why HBO is king and honestly FX is better than Showtime and is probably number 2 right behind HBO. FX literally had 2 of the greatest TV shows of the past decade easily in Fargo and American Crime Story as well as countless others (AHS, Atlanta, Louie) and I don’t see any signs in quality dipping. FX realized there’s literal steaming juggernauts that have mastered quantity over quality and they’ve done just the opposite and it’s done wonders for them.
Dexter was GOAT from seasons 1 to 5. 6 is when it went downhill. I hope the sequel series doesn't disappoint tbh.

You can tell a show made today and set in the '80s/early '90s by; 1) The smoking, all the damn smoking. People smoked less than they had in the '60s and more than now, so producers go for the contrast in either case. 2) Chevettes, K-Cars and bland Japanese boxes that were part of any streetscape back then but hardly anyone's saving now.
