Problems with Drugs and Crime in Kensington Ave, Philadelphia
In Philadelphia as a whole, violent crime and drug abuse are major issues. The city has a higher rate of violent crime than the national average and other similarly sized metropolitan areas. The drug overdose rate in Philadelphia is also concerning. Between 2013 and 2015, the number of drug overdose deaths in the city increased by 50%, with more than twice as many deaths from overdoses as homicides. 2 Kensington's high crime rate and drug abuse contribute significantly to Philadelphia's problems.
Because of the high number of drugs in the neighborhood, Kensington has the third-highest drug crime rate by neighborhood in Philadelphia, at 3.57. The opioid epidemic has played a significant role in this problem, as it has in much of the rest of the country. Opioid abuse has skyrocketed in the United States over the last two decades, and Philadelphia is no exception. In addition to having a high rate of drug overdose deaths, 80% of Philadelphia's overdose deaths involved opioids, and Kensington is a significant contributor to this figure. This Philadelphia neighborhood is said to have the largest open-air heroin market on the East Coast, with many neighbors migrating to the area for heroin and other opioids. With such a high concentration of drugs in Kensington, many state and local officials have focused on the neighborhood in an attempt to address Philadelphia's problem.

Iam from Austria and i want to say: To see young people in these terrible conditions would not be possible in Vienna. So many rich guys got over 100 billions of dollar und nobody is able to help these poor souls. In this case, helping quickly is necessary and obligatory for everyone with compassion.
These people have the same freedoms and choices as everyone else. They are not the responsibility of society. Throwing money at this situation will not fix it.
The problem with America is the current corrupt politicians. The ones who raise taxes on the Middle Class while making it so their millionaire and billionaire buddies get comfy tax breaks. Prez Trump admitted to benefiting from it during his 2016 debate with H. Clinton. The salary of Democrats like Pelosi, Biden, Obama, Clinton is right around $200,000 yet they’re millionaires. Gee… wonder how that happened? Shady foreign deals perhaps. Democrats and Rhinos could care less about America and they’ve managed to brainwash an entire generation with woke ideologies that resulted in this Democrat utopia. If Democrats pull another stunt to stunt the election… America will cave. It’s a sad state of affairs.

@@Kimi1968ful Unfortunately I don't agree with you. I think your conclusion "Nobody pushed them to do drugs" is wrong because young people are pushed to try drugs. Once the dealer has you hooked, it's hard to find a way out. In Vienna they had the same problem in the 80s. At that time, the city government rented a house right next to the hotspot. With a soup kitchen, a place to sleep and a handful of social workers, we have managed to provide support to so many people. Today we have more than 10 large houses not only for addicts, but also for homeless people and women's shelters for women fleeing violence. It can be done, but it doesn't start with indifference but with compassion for the poorest of the poor.
Yeah the US has those places too. Thousands and thousands of them. Also treatment centers and homeless shelters. And when Austria has over 2 million illegal immigrants waltz across the border in a year come back and we can talk about what the US should do for our citizens. It's hard when we have to take care of everyone else. And also our biggest drug problem is Fentenall which is being manufactured in Mexico and coming across that same open border to kill our children. @@michaelmuellner6128

I was born in West Philadelphia and also raised there, I spent most of my days playing basketball in the playground, also chillin out and relaxin but then one day a couple of guys who were up to no good started making trouble in my living area. I ended up getting into a fight which terrified my mother. As a result she sent me away from West Philadelphia to the most peaceful area of Bel Air.
