- Lacey’s former Days Inn hotel has a new name and is almost ready for its new purpose.
The Maple Court enhanced shelter, operated by the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI), is expected to start taking in residents from an encampment on I-5 in Olympia next week.
The property has room for up to 150 people experiencing homelessness.
The City of Lacey is working with the non-profit, using state funds to pay for the renovation and operation of the facility for the next two years.

These people cant even take care of their tents.. how are they going to take care of a room??! The villages with tiny homes are a mess... piles of trash, drug paraphanilia everywhere. This is going to end badly, and the residents already living around that area are going go suffer as well.
100%
Thank you King 5 for giving us a partial walk thru! As a former licensed security officer, I agree that the non-profit/county/state tax dollars "rule" of not having a "no illegal, recreational drugs & alcohol on the whole of the premesis" is a somewhat intentional failure of responsibility. Their rule leniency is allowing for the non-profit to fail and then ask for more tax dollars. Obviously, the non-profit got the funds with the current rule and will claim no responsibility for misusing taxpayer dollars and the failure to save lives. Compassion goes hand in hand with tough love. Denying drugs and alcohol to users and dealers is compassion. If they are denied, they have to make a choice. A hotel room is a luxury, not basic care. They need basic care "with rules" first - if they can't pass a drug test and subsequent random drug tests while residing in the taxpayer paid for non-profit managed luxury hotel. BTW: How many dogs and cats and litter boxes are allowed in the luxury hotel?
You definitely highlighted the reason why drug encampments make people money, the more a ‘solution’ fails the more they make. It’s despicable. I hate it here 😢
Some of those people in encampments do not value property, theirs or others. I hope they treat these homes better than they do the streets. Just because you may be homeless doesn't give you the right to trash the streets!
I give it 2 months and this place will be trashed most homeless people have serious mental problems and these shelters are not the answer mental asylums are
@@Ephemeral996 In seattle and renton they have had to condemn some of these hotels because these nasty ass people made them uninhabitable. plese excuse my spelling.
I’ll take the over/under of 6 months before it’s shut down.
Over. They aren't going to give up that fast. It could burn down sooner, though.
and covered in urine/feces
If there isn’t a heavy police presence
This is gonna be bad
There won't be.
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life sad times
It will be a drug addict paradise. Thanks Governor Inslee.
What's your solution douca1
@@YourRealDaddy100 Most homeless prefer to be homeless over the "working for a living" lifestyle society has to offer. Also, most homeless in Olympia are addicted to fentanyl. With that said, I'd shamelessly vote for the state to buy a private habitable island they could choose to go live at, where they can live by their own rules. They won't have to deal with us, we won't have to deal with them, a simple unrealistic solution in this soft country! 😂
@@MrParamethius Hey that idea has bounced around inside my head as well. Honestly i don't think there is any way to fix this problem.
They're going to TRASH that place so fast!
It would be terrible for a person to say they either take a job holding a sign for a company or get thrown in a gas chamber. Only an asshole would call them a waste of air and a burden on society.
Someone needs to check their spelling before hitting the publish button… HOTELL 😂
Yay
Iam interested in this place
Yea, this won't be taken advantage of.
Amazing. I am praying this is a success!
better pray the hardest you've ever prayed
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life agreed. It’s likely to end up a shitshow
And instead of finding a real solution now we'll just sell narcan at cvs so we can keep the ball rolling lol
Does tiny home village have caregiver I am interested
Why don't you ask people who live in this area if they want this I live here and I dont want this area to be like olympia olypia looks like crap and lots of crime violence and no regard for others property or the destruction and filth they bring with them
Good idea but the rooms will be trashed. When you get something for free there is No appreciation. Too many bad apples compared to the ones who will treat it respectfully.
Find the root cause of the problem this here that you are doing is called enabling and will not work.
Do you have caregiver on sight
This is where it all begins folks. Welcome to Lacey, the drug capital of WA state.
How is COVID-19 effect it's or not
After I beat Matthew down at the Red Lion it got shut down. After I made his face hit the asphalt at the Days Inn in Federal Way, it got new management. Nothing happened when I drew blood and left him on Pacific Highway bleeding.
$111,111 per room.
I wonder how many bicycles one might fit in their room? All jokes aside, I wouldn't allow smoking in your room. Only in designated smoking areas. And then, only legal substances. Any open illegal drug dealing or use on the premises gets you booted. It might help to have a methadone clinic on the premises just to nip that in the bud. I'll hold my breath before I criticize trying this out. I knew a bum, he lived in an apartment for low income and homeless vets. He also lived in a tent in the jungle so he could do his drugs and screw hookers.
100 down 999,999 to go.
I applaud this. The first step out is secure housing.
They don't want "out", dear. They want to take advantage of what's being offered and then, after trashing it, move on.
Sweet summer child, my God you are ignorant of the world.
People are drug addicts, i hope😢
Uh huh
Everyone is making money 😂
