Something is wrong with the local government of the city you live and work in if you have to stay in a homeless shelter for two years and never receive any support or housing assistance, especially while working. No children should ever be homeless for two years. Thats a disgrace to their citys leaders. Shane on them. In Denver no families go have to stay in shelters for two years. After two to three months with personalized support of case management from social services residents of Denver are qualified to receive housing vouchers. I know because I did it!!! Live where you love to be and I love Denver not just for its beauty and progressive laws but because they city loves all its residents and has more resources available for them than anywhere I've ever seen, and I've lived in four countries and over six states!!! None can compare to Colorado!!!!

They wouldn't be homeless, apparently her wage is so bad she has moments she can't afford food. Anyone working shouldn't be going hungry and if they are going hungry you need to have a deep look at how your organisation is treating it's employees because I can assure you that if she's going through that more employees are going through it. Honestly I believe that this is a display of Melodrama just for the sake of ratings. I can see giving her a raise if she truly has earned it and cares about her employees and her customers. But the 250 grand… that's grotesque, I'm good at my job and compassionate to customers, and I can barely afford to live in my one bedroom apartment. So I should get.. maybe.. a $50K gift maybe from my boss, right?
Edit: the CEO basically paid for a house for her because she wanted to her kids to have a yard. This is all so melodramatic, what about the other rank-and-file employees who have college loans, ill parents, who are also struggling to make it? And she gets a promotion AND a windfall, just for being a reliable (and caring and squared away) manager? So many workers fit that bill, why was she living in a homeless shelter to begin with.. This was done for ratings and publicity. Sheesh

@@Defender78 As I said in other comments, $250K in the DC area is not enlugh to buy a house. You can think it's all about ratings, but it this case, it was not. I have lived in a DC shelter and it ain't great and that's an understatement, so to have young children in a shelter is a whole different level of demeaning. A pessimistic person would not understand how someone can still be uplifting and joyful in spite of life's adversities.
I have been in customer service for years and I treat people with respect. You never know where your blessing will come from. In teaching my children that lesson, a man who met my son as a child put away $10K in an interest-bearing trust fund for his college. The man did the same thing for my daughter. Why? Because I taught my children to be nice by example.

Angel drops to the floor after hearing about the $250k check and he didn't hesitate...he got right down beside her even though it was terribly hard for him. These two are wonderful. As a CEO, meeting an employee like Angel who takes her job seriously, takes care of the customer and cares about her fellow employees brings one thing to mind. How can I make their life better? Too many CEOs today only care about lining their own pockets or the golden parachute they will receive when they move on. The best CEOs spend the majority of their time with their employees, customers and vendors. They listen more than they talk. This video should be mandatory viewing in every MBA program.

All I got for working hard and giving 110% to customers (Not even for gain, its just how I like to work) was my boss yelling at me like Im a dog and when standing up for myself and demanding to be spoken to like a human being, her response was "I am your superior, I can talk to you however I want. If you dont like it get another job." So I got hired somewhere else the same day and left during my coworkers lunch so that they had no one to work when I walked away without a word :) Im still baffled after a year that someone had the audacity to refer to themselves as a "superior"

Still, I sometimes get flashbacks of that day and it gets under my skin. It should be a crime for someone to talk down to another person like the way she did. If it were 100 years ago she would've been back handed to the next year by a less tolerant person (not to sound grim but honestly. People now a days have not a lick of respect for others and part of me feels like its because of the lack of consequence people face for being so malice.)
