He said it would be better if it is 500 pounds ligter? lol. in the words of chief engineer Kazutoshi Mizuno:" if we reduce the weight by 200 pounds then the 0-62 time will increase from 2.7 to 3.3, and the stopping distance will increase from 100ft to 115ft." This poor fuck never heard of optimal weight.
Dude...... This work of art is epic ! Not meant to be nursed to 6500 rpm. For that you can use the 911. This beast is meant to be driven. You either love it........ or fear it !
Tell me if i am wrong, this reviewer say we can get a new performance car that can run 0-60 under 3s, luxurious interior, smooth ride, etc with $100k, if there is one, i want one.
Ok guys. He's just saying that the GT-R isn't a great daily driver and the interior materials look cheap compared to other cars in the price range. How does that make him a bad reviewer? The GT-R is a performance car. It's not supposed to combine performance and luxury like an AMG mercedes. If you really were GT-R fans, wouldn't you be okay with that?
I was fortunate enough to drive one of these cars in California. Through the hills, Down Mulholland and it was by far the FASTEST and QUICKEST cars I have driven. It is a dream, but I do agree, the ride is harsh (but it's a sports car, not a bentley)... I was out with a friend who threw me the keys, coming back came over 1 hill, no traffic FLOORED it and was up to 120 in no time. Back on the PCH he turned off all the traction control and put it in race mode. Yet again, sliding around a bit but back up to 140 in a manner of seconds. This is an amazing vehicle, regardless of weight, size, ect. It Performs!
It's a beast. If people are gonna hate on interior go buy cars that are way more money. If not go buy a sports car that a lot of other people have. This car is unique
As much as I would love to own one of these, I find it hard to spend that much when you can get a stock Z06 or GT500 for less and still get one hell of a ride. Because unless you have a track to go to, or don't mind losing your drivers license, you are never going to be able to drive it to it's full potential.
The car weighs that much for "vertical loading"....that's the physics that everyone ignores...these car doesn't belittle physics, it is every nuance of the topic.
Before arguing, watch the making of the car video. The friendly looking japanese lost a bunch of years of his life to understand the difference between mass and friction and why is the car so heavy and is that so important. And he explains it.
So you criticize the GT-R for weighing more than the 911, having 50 less ft/lbs of torque AND being almost a half second faster to 60 mph? Makes sense. That's like getting beat by a fat kid with asthma in a race, and telling him he needs to lose weight.
Speed isn't everything. If your spending 90k on a car it should have everything. Yes it's fast, but you honestly can make cars faster than the GT-R for way less than 90k. He's doing his job.
It's obvious he had it out for the GTR before doing this review. It's too bad people are actually going to take him seriously and not buy it now. Not that those people deserve this car in the first place.
most people forget or just don't know that turbos need air... (or maybe I'm wrong too) but the thinner the air the less power they give.. the slower it will be.. right? or am I wrong?.... anyway.. your comment made perfect sense...
Getting frustrated are you? Calling people names does not make you smart, it makes you something else. It certainly does not help your argument. Have a nice life
The problem with this car is that even at the low US price of $100k, most buyers want style and luxury. The GT-R delivers neither. Despite its astonishing performance, it's more barren than an Altima and it looks like an obese 2nd-gen Mitsubishi Eclipse on steroids.
First my friend, the fact they use tires that are so soft has nothing to do with it I suppose. That they last for 120Km has also nothing to do with it, that they really have grip 5 to 8 laps. Still your argument does not talk about a road car .... witch the GTR is. A standard normal car on normal tires, with 4 seats and a big boot. Have fun in life, don't even try to learn. I'm sure you'll have a great life and feel happy.
People who like this car don't give a rats @ss about the stuff he criticized. Good honest review though. Godzilla has some negatives, but I sure don't care.
This dude DOES NOT GET IT. He needs to look at the aero research that went into this car. One of the few cars that creates downforce. Both front and rear. If you want an Altima interior - buy an Altima. Not many people who own a GT-R give a crap about the interior. The center console is very informative and useful. The car is made to go fast. It does not like slow. What GT-R owner cares about the MPG? Come on!
That is because you don't read enough then... A race car adds traction by aerodynamics. They can control how the air flows AND they need to stay within very strict regulations. A race car is purpose built for racing and has NOTHING to do with a general public car (and you know that very well). A F1 car produces 1200Kg downforce, and they need it. Try sticking a 600Hp engine is a very light road car (600Kg old 1960's Mini or so) = NO traction, No grip, uncontrollable. It is called physics.
The topics he covered...weight, size, interior, and ride comfort. It's not an everyday car so who cares? "Well under 4 seconds." Ugh, try under 3. I'm just going to stop there but seriously...
Every car has its faults. When you are talking about a super car for under $100,000, you should expect a terrible interior. They have to take money out somewhere. Just like the Corvette Z06, one of it's greatest cons is the fact that the interior is made out of the same materials as a Sonic, but what people don't understand is that those big engines and other mechanicals that make the car reach massive speeds make up a good 80% of what it costs to make the car.
It is a lot faster than most cars 3x or more its price but in all reality the best 0-60 times a lot of people are seeing are low 3's to 3.5 seconds even with the launch control. I'd much rather run around in a GTR than most 2 seat sports cars any day though.
Don't mind joyfulvulture ... as his name suggests a vulture. As somebody once said, and this is true in his case: "Better to say nothing and look stupid, then open your mouth and remove all doubt" Physics is probably not his regular reading ... certainly not seen his choice of wording to express himself and impolite behavior.
Wow! Why didn't Nissan hire this weenie with all of his world-class engineering expertise. He sure schooled Mizuno about weight to power ratios. Get a clue NIssan! Fire Mizuno and hire this tool!
0-60 under 4 seconds ??? It's 2.7 !! And to all of you who don't know that's as fast as the 4th fastest accelerating car in the world !! That's faster than any ferrari even the new laFerrari
Because that bargain is just too great! get one under 100k for a supercar performance like machine lol. Maybe in the future, Nissan will try to do some big revision to shave weight off GTR and the Z.
I don't see how this is a bad review. As an enthusiast we already know all of these things but as a reviewer he needs to outline the pros and cons. The GTR has its cons.. It is big.. and it is heavy.. But we all know that. And even with the negatives I would still own one. No supercar is made perfect. People compare the GTR to the 911 often, he is doing the same. To me it is an apples to oranges comparison. The review would help someone in the market for a supercar not ps3 hugging nerds.
I think all he wanted to say with weight and size is that he would reach better time... But then they would cut off what they wanted to do with this car... To have 4 sits and have some space for people that sits in back and make amazingly fast car for that size... If we compare to porsche we can see that he is faster, have more place to sit in back, have bigger trunk, looks better, and after all is cheaper... So he is tottaly wrong..
Com on dude ... "well under 4sec acceleration" ... it does 2.7sec ... That is "well under" 3seconds and only 3 production cars in the world can do that... And you apparently do not know why it is that heavy ... Ask the designer, IT WAS BUILT TO BE THAT HEAVY ... a road car cannot have 1200Kg down-force wings on it, so the weight replaces big wings to generate the grip. "And ITS SIZE" ... well, you have 4 real seats and a big boot, OF COURSE IT IS BIG!! ... Sad review ...
What does this car eat for lunch? It favors Italian ( Lambo's, Ferrari and German..Porsche. Even American..Corvettes. Line them up on the track, and this car with blow the doors off of them. Who gives a shit about ride comfort? It's a super car disguised as a street car. Chew on that.
the car has a stiff suspension because it can handle turns like no other! then again i am after all a 14 year old thats loved this car the day i saw it, so i have only heard of this although its quite compelling coming from Jeremy Clarkson on top gear.
one problem is u said under 4 man go check again its well under 3. second don't compare it turbo s because there a reason its a 100k cheaper in canada if it was 200k it probably be more luxurious and lastly hard suspension put it in comfort mode it'll be fine . think he knows how to review cars come on
Try Google ... and remember we are talking regular ROAD cars: Traction or friction and weight Center of gravity, mass, weight and its height from the surface Relation of mass to weight; in relation to acceleration force of moving objects (cars) Thank you for being interested. It is a fascinating subject and very complex to balance in a standard road car, and also in a race car.
this guys just ripping off other common moto journals stuff. If the GTR weighed less its intelligent 4wd would have issues in making it defy gravity. Regarding the ride, just change to Michelin Supersports and you will have a great ride. Get rid of the run flats. Regarding the gearbox, WTF is this guy on about. I drive my R35 daily and the gearbox even at low speed is silky smooth. Dunno what this dude is on about. Under 4 secs, where the hell did you dig this reporter from. 2.8 mojo.
i love this car but this guy sucks at his job. even a five year old can do it better than him. he doesnt know what hes saying about this beauty. they need a new host.
Loudest?? LOL ... I dont know .... i drive on tracks a lot and they only allow 95db .... so I have to keep it down. Acrapovich makes great ones in titanium -very expensive-, but I think you can find great, superb steel ones (INOX).
just bought one with legit less then 10k miles, and shes coming home tomorrow so im watchign this shit with extreme joy!!!!
This post is 3 years old. Do you still have it and is it doing well?
in my eyes, no porsche can match the gtr. it's my dream car
How would the stopping distance go up if you have the same tires and brakes?

The GT-R is a performance car. It's not supposed to combine performance and luxury like an AMG mercedes. If you really were GT-R fans, wouldn't you be okay with that?
the real question is could you afford it?
Then is it worth it?
My answer is...Hell yeah it is.
And you don't NEED a big screen TV...you don't NEED a computer...you dont NEED things, but its damn cool to have them.
Learning to drive a car with a manual transmission is quite a feat. My father taught me when I was 9 years old. lol I'm 16 now and I love my manual.
I was fortunate enough to drive one of these cars in California. Through the hills, Down Mulholland and it was by far the FASTEST and QUICKEST cars I have driven. Are you sure you are not talking about your experience playing Grand Theft Auto 5 online?
It's a beast. If people are gonna hate on interior go buy cars that are way more money. If not go buy a sports car that a lot of other people have. This car is unique
This guy must been sponsored by Porsche
If I can afford it then I will live with the hard ride. It is a sweet GT period. Thanks for a great review.
Titled Supercar Killer
Talks about drive comfort and mpg.
Great title autoguide.
As much as I would love to own one of these, I find it hard to spend that much when you can get a stock Z06 or GT500 for less and still get one hell of a ride. Shut up, GTR still beat the hell out of Porsche. Go get a Lexus Genius
If you are going to post a video representing the infamous GTR, learn how to pronounce Nissan correct. You are not even British.
The car weighs that much for "vertical loading"....that's the physics that everyone ignores...these car doesn't belittle physics, it is every nuance of the topic.
4:00 DUDE the interior is fucking AWSOME! It is absolutely perfect for this car!
That GT-R R35 GT5 brings here
sub 3 in perfect conditions, launch control and good driver.
Who gives a fuck about the weight when it's still the fastest car on the street!
0 - 100 in 2.8 secs. Faster than almost any porsche, mclaren, etc
Before arguing, watch the making of the car video. The friendly looking japanese lost a bunch of years of his life to understand the difference between mass and friction and why is the car so heavy and is that so important. And he explains it.

He's doing his job.
and one more thing. i asked for a car review, i got a powerpoint presentation. absolutely atrocious.
This is a good review for those that actually have money and are looking at making a purchase - not for fanboys that drool over a PS3 game
Hey Autoguide, I'm a 19 year old undergraduate student living in Toronto, and I was wondering how I could get involved with your website?
It's obvious he had it out for the GTR before doing this review. It's too bad people are actually going to take him seriously and not buy it now. Not that those people deserve this car in the first place.

Calling people names does not make you smart, it makes you something else. It certainly does not help your argument.
Have a nice life
Yea definitely. Driving a car with a manual gearbox definitely has a great finesse to do it properly.
I bet Colum likes it when grown men "drip testosterone" on his "cut and paste" face.
I did not know it was so cheap in totally buying one
excessive size? the original skyline was made to be a performance oriented family sedan...
What is this talking about? The stock 2013 Nissan GT-R does 0-60 in 2.7s to 2.8s which is well under 3 seconds. Google it for proof.
the guy is comparing the GT-R to a prius and altima... man.. where the fuck they get guys like this.
Do you see this GTR series as street cars?
5:40-6:09
Look out! We got an eco freak over here!
Hello Chap! This is my niece, Ann Geeteear.
The problem with this car is that even at the low US price of $100k, most buyers want style and luxury. The GT-R delivers neither. Despite its astonishing performance, it's more barren than an Altima and it looks like an obese 2nd-gen Mitsubishi Eclipse on steroids.
were are you gonna find a car that is cheaper than a 911 and can destroy a 911 on the track...no were else...GTR are simply amazing!!

Have fun in life, don't even try to learn. I'm sure you'll have a great life and feel happy.
He forgets the gtr has four heavy seats....
The GT-R weights so much because it increases downforce since it's aerodynamics do not contribute to that
This is the Premuim version ?
You obviously don't understand why people buy cars like this.
People who like this car don't give a rats @ss about the stuff he criticized. Good honest review though. Godzilla has some negatives, but I sure don't care.
if the GT-R was actually alot lighter it would make the 0-60 times slower nissan said
I'm confused if this guy actually likes the car or not
I like the look of the GTR. It looks like and American muscle car.
This dude DOES NOT GET IT. He needs to look at the aero research that went into this car. One of the few cars that creates downforce. Both front and rear. Nothing will ever beat the R35 ;)
agree on every word :D
i was wondering , im going to get the GTR but whats the loudest exhaust ?

Idk why he keeps comparing GTR to a Porsche. There is no comparison, GTR swallows porsche whole.

This car is oooootrageously fast hahahaah
i really dont see the need for a steering wheel for an american. the point of this car is corners and all he does is cruise along a straight road.
I don't see how this is a bad review. As an enthusiast we already know all of these things but as a reviewer he needs to outline the pros and cons. The GTR has its cons.. $106,000 and 14 mpg. This is a Canadian show, why not l/100km and Canadian pricing?

i always lol when someone compares the interior to a 60k MORE expensive porsche. makes no sense
1) Yes
2) YES!
He should stick to family van reviews.

Its 6" longer and 3.5" wider..... thats wat she said :) and she never complained about that ;)
premium edition is slight more expensive than black edition.. this host can shot himself, if he thought he knows cars well.
Thanks for wasting my time to the guy in this review, i know where to not get credible sources of info on a car deal
i think what he meant was 'under 3 seconds'
the car has a stiff suspension because it can handle turns like no other! then again i am after all a 14 year old thats loved this car the day i saw it, so i have only heard of this although its quite compelling coming from Jeremy Clarkson on top gear.
the REAL OWNER of this car dont care about extra $20 a week for gas.
the Other do.
one problem is u said under 4 man go check again its well under 3.
second don't compare it turbo s because there a reason its a 100k cheaper in canada if it was 200k it probably be more luxurious and lastly hard suspension put it in comfort mode it'll be fine . think he knows how to review cars come on
You forgot to close bracket :P
911 Turbo S is faster and better than this Nissan in every respect, but I'll give you this critic guy is just no bueno...
0-60 is 2.7 Seconds. If the size and weight are a problem then explain the 7:16 Nurburgring time? This guy is clueless.
well under 4 sec ?? boy it makes 2.7 to 60..
seriously how much you were paid by Porsche ?
the price of the GTR never goes up... it's the american dollard that goes down. At the end of the day it's almost the same price in Yen
Nice supercar indeed.
The next gtr is at least a couple years to away!
Try Google ... and remember we are talking regular ROAD cars:

It's pronounced "Nee Saun", NOT Nee San. Jesus, how hard is that? Everybody knows that! It's on their NATIONAL TV commercials and enunciated that way!
love reviews for 100k + cars....nobody can afford
My friends Honda Civic is just as fast with twin turbos as well =)
drop 20000 more in interior quality and Im pretty sure the GTR interior will be better than the one in the 911. still be 30000$ cheaper.
ok who gives a shit if the interior is not as good. it is leather and does 0-60 in 2.7 s wtf more do u want for 100k?
i love this car but this guy sucks at his job. even a five year old can do it better than him. he doesnt know what hes saying about this beauty. they need a new host.
Loudest?? LOL ... I dont know .... i drive on tracks a lot and they only allow 95db .... so I have to keep it down. Acrapovich makes great ones in titanium -very expensive-, but I think you can find great, superb steel ones (INOX).
