So this is a basic data dictionary. I would like to know how could I combine a data flow diagram and a data dictionary to produce a more refined data dictionary or a more in context data dictionary
For example grouping of data elements to form a message. What I'm really looking for is examples of an advanced data dictionary

When do we create this data dictionary? And Why we create this? Are they same for any type of application that we work or only for legacy applications?

On some projects, the data dictionary will already exist, so you'll use it for information and also want to make sure you keep it updated as changes/additions are made.
When one doesn't exist, you'll want to create one before getting too far into the project.
They are used for all software projects and will be different for every product.

Yes, that would be common info to include, along with any other data used for the process. You could use Word but we generally find creating a spreadsheet to be more flexible for this type of data collection.
