Recirculating the already cooled air will lead to high humidity (which you must be aware of by now) inside the house. An idea is to build just the cooling mad part on a window, and have a fan on the ceiling pull air into the attic/roof. This way no air is recirculated so you get good cooling without any sticky feeling.
Great how to video some are most of the people posting on here do not realize this was a how to video. I live in a van and have a problem with keeping cool . There's always a hater in the crowd
The water is evaporated from the wood matting, the heat for this comes from the air drawn through the matting, therefore the air must get cooler, then ejected to front by fan.
If you are really a Pakistani. I really appreciate your talent and if I were the Primeminster of this country I would have awarded you. Our country needs creative and talented youngsters like you. Government should let them come infront so they can innovate this third world country!
wow bro you are just amazing and it's a gr8 project i watched your drill machine DIY video too that was just awesome Pakistani's are just amazing & very happy people finding many ways to do cheaper things for our daily life i like it Thank you
i may not make this project but i absolutely loved it! if i get chance i'll surely try to make one :) you're such an intelligent man...it would be sooo good if you speak too even if in urdu people will understand things more easily :) thanks for this gift
Good job! congratulations:) I`ll have to make such an air-cooler soon (maybe even a bigger one) but the only problem is the humidity:( Excessive humidity in air is bad for electronic devices.
Checking the temperature right in front of the fan is not giving a fair reading... But nice built. I just don't like the high humidity this will bring to the room and it'll destroy a lot of things in the room as well.
Mayor Ushanka The cooling will be very less that way. Most of the cooling in this system is the evaporation effect and you will not have that without the free water.
You said " Yes, destroy leather shoes for example. They will start to grow fungus. Many things don't tolerate very high humidity." and "Even cotton items can begin to grow fungus and things will begin to smell old, so no this is not really such a great idea." Is what you said from experience?
Nope, it's mostly known as a "swamp cooler" since it _can_ cool the air but that "cool air" comes out at 100% humidity, literally. The cooling effect is *only* possible if the incoming warm air is appreciably less than 100% humidity. Stated another way, you could NOT feel the cooling effect from this on a 95 F day at 98% humidity. Remember, a large portion of the comfortable feeling we get from typical vapor compression air conditioning is due to the reduction in humidity, not the reduction in temperature. A swamp cooler is only useful if operated in a very dry climate - like a desert or Arizona. Oh, wait, AZ _is_ a desert...
Nearly the whole Western half of the United States has dry air in summer, not just AZ. As of typing this it's 36% humidity and 81° F where I live in California. These coolers are recommended for these more arid climates.
So much work to be done, and your assistant was on a break, he passed by at around 10:58 to check if you wanted any help. xD Amazing piece of work by the way.

how to select for particular room size ex : 10ft x 12ft celing height is 10ft capacity of water tanker ,pump hp ,fan rpm fan size evaporation time etc... plz thanks
In my personal opinion, your DIY Air Cooler is better and well-designed than others. It could be commercialized with the appropriate funding to hit the market. Just a thought! Well done....
Great work! Do you have any written calculations for this kind of Air Cooler? I have the same project and i need the calculations. Thanks for the great video!
When I was a young boy my mother used a fan some spanish moss and a garden hose to make an evporative colling unit in the window. It did take the edge off of the heat and it get's pretty hot in south Louisiana.

what does it do exactly ?

Tom Humphries th&nk you very much :)
this is a way to cool your home in a dry desert environment ,this would not work in a hot environment with humidity

cant you put peltier on inside for cooling?
We call them "Swamp coolers" where I come from. They generally only work in dry environments and wont do squat in already humid areas.
I dont undrstand the humid thing. im confuse. :(

can the aluminium sheet aka the frame be substituted with a plastic bin? Or will it not give the same cooling effect?
GardenGnome Jay
Yes, plastic would be better as it would not rust.
bhai if we want to make 12 v circuit for this cooler is that possibl....
like i want to use this cooler from a mobile charger 12v
There is no 12V mobile charger in the world.
+Learn 4 Earn you will need a 12v 5A power supply.
i have a pump it's rating is 12v dc and power is 8w.
can i make a circuit for this ?
+Learn 4 Earn yes you can. Buy a transformer and connect 2 diode and 1 capacitor. Your supply is ready.
That thing for water distributor where dd u get it

+Christos It's common knowledge that you will need evaporation if you want to reduce temperature.

where is the air cooler? all i see is a air humidifier..
Jean-Michel B evaporative cooling, when water evaporates it takes heat away from the environment, that's why you sweat and that is how this works.

wich one is better, swamp cooler or ac using ice?..
I think swamp is better because it needs only water and you don't have to freeze the water every time. You should put it out side when working.
ac with frezed bottles dryes the air a little, swamp wets a little

I wounder if you could build a mechanical water pump which runs of the fan? because when I was a kid we always had problems with it. just a thought!
Can straw be use instead of wooden strips
Great idea!! Only problem is how does one handle the moisture in the air that will develope mold?
Very cool. But when you add water, wouldn't the cooler rust because it's iron?
how does it drain? and it is funny that you put all this time and effort into it and then the battery is outside of it and where is the water source?
what did you do in the end with those empty sketches.?
