    I have the same car . It has a 62 390 a 4 spd and a nine inch rear . Power disc brakes , electric wipers and black rolled and pleated interior. Midnight blue and silver . A 390 bolts right in with the y block motor mounts .

      That’s awesome. If the Y block gives up the ghost there may very well be a FE going in its place.

      @@FullSizeFord i hate y blocks all most as much as flathead. Im 61 and think the FE is the best engine ford ever made ! 352 up to a 428 . Even the 360 , just change the cam , heads if you can . Stroke is a 352 , bore just a little bigger .but starting around 300 hp is always good .

    Hey Jeff! Glad to see action on the other '55! Sooooo close man, almost had it. Kinda thought you were crazy for tossin it on the road for that length without any shakedown runs...LOL
    I've got a Y-block fuel pump in a box from Rock Auto, for my '56, a Delphi unit I think. Fingers crossed! Now I'm nervous if it's gonna be crap out of the box! but thanks for the heads up on the rebuild kits. Might be worth having 1 or 2 on the shelf. But man, even though she's got a weak hole, sounded like she wants to live!
    I've been tinkering on the Vicky I got from you, a little here and there as time allows. Work's been crazy and other stuff popping up. you know the drill. Great video man, and keep 'em comin!

    Glad to see something I drove as a kid, car was only seven years old when it fell into my hands. I owned a good many fords as I dared to be different than other kids. In a all chevy town, I drove only fords and some really nice nice ones. By nineteen sixty three, I bought my first new ford, a sixty three two door hardtop. My favorites were the fifty six and seven ford fairlane two door hardtops.. being the fifty six crown with that chrome strip on the top running from side to side. I spent many afternoons shining it at the park where everyone seen it. Not designed for the speeds we drove them then but hey we survived most of these wild times.

      Cool story! Was your ‘63 a boxtop or fastback?

    • @morgansword
      @morgansword 3 месяца назад +1

      @@FullSizeFord I never thought about that part as I haven't heard them called either. Typical two door hardtop with all of the chrome strips and across the back seat as well. Had that "V" style in the back seat and chrome inside on the rear pillars with the lights on this area. Hours and hours of polishing all of it. I would use nearly a whole can of turtle wax on the chrome alone. I have spent as long as a whole day on just the grill. I forgot to mention the reason I fell in love with them as my friends dad had the fifty four mercury two door hardtop that had a green glass in front of that chrome strip on the top and then metal on the back half of the roof. I used to put nearly five hundred miles a week driving that car with its original 254 overhead valve engine. The tip of the day is the cam bearings in the Y block engines will spin and then not oil the rockers for the valves. We used a long drill bit and re drilled the bearing oil holes out to get oil going back up to the rockers for the valves. Learned later to just stake those bearings when installed so they could not spin in their location and have oil coming to the top. People overthink how those engines were damaged from a small fragment of metal that was drilled in that bearing on either side of the heads. Takes a very long drill bit but we were quite motivated and made things work for us.

      @@FullSizeFord I would have to call it the fast back as it did taper back a long ways. If that engine fails, I think do to the fact its a long ways from a sema car, a two eighty nine engine or three o two would be a better all around engine for long durability

    • @FullSizeFord
      @FullSizeFord  3 месяца назад +1

      @@morgansword the fastback was introduced mid year ‘63 and shares the roof with the ‘64 two door hardtop. The early ‘63 Boxtops shared the formal roof with the ‘62 2 door hardtop.
