- In this episode of @FullSizeFord we head north to rescue a rare 1960 Edsel Ranger 2dr post with a 223 6 popper backed by a 3 on the tree manual transmission. This is about as bare bones a Edsel you could get. Manual steering, manual brakes, no air conditioning, but they didn't delete the radio.
I Love the beauty rings and poverty caps on the Edsel!! Pretty straight vehicle!!!❤
Nice find! The last year in the three year run of the Edsel. I love it. I wanted to let you know that unless this car originally had reverse lights as part of a package, all four taillight lenses were red. Check to see if the car has a reverse light switch. If not, four reds it is. Have fun with this one, and thanks for taking us on this car-buying adventure.
@@tomschlitter1594 we didnt even think of that, there doesn’t appear to be a reverse light switch.
Good score ! Keep it back on the road ❤

Cool car we never got here you guys are so lucky we missed out on lots of your models . Cheers mate🇦🇺
@@peterselten500 thanks for watching from down under! We’re jealous of your car meets where people actually get to use their car to its full potential without a bunch of lawyers getting in the way!
We never had the 60 Ford, let alone the Canadian version here.😎let the clutch pedal out dude🤭knee cap round ya ear has nothing to do with it..
In 1960 in the small Indiana town I grew up in there were two of these 1960 Edsel two-door sedans. One belonged to an older couple down the street from me and was the green color whatever they called that. I rode in it once when their grandson gave me a ride. The other one was identical to this car including the color. It may be faded but not as bad as one would think, considering how old it is. The one in my hometown also had chrome fender skirts, and two slant back antennas on the rear fenders. I thought it looked pretty gaudy. It belonged to the father of one of my classmates. I’ve always been a real big fan of the 60 Edsel for some reason. I even still have the two 1/25 scale AMT models my brother and I built back then. I am really enjoying your channel. Keep up the good work.
@@rickpowers4356 thank you for watching and sharing!
You lucky dog. I had a 58 Ford with a 223 6. That engine ran forever and never stopped. it always started.

Wow, you guys are cornering the market on 60 Edsels. This one is even better than the last. I'm jelly!

Nice Car! I have had a few 59 Edsel's but never could find a 1960. A lots of guts to pick that up and drive it home, I would have brought the trailer!
@@ricksoldcargarage at least it was somewhat close to home although could have done without the 100 degree temps. Thanks for watching!
Nice old Edsel with a decent body and driveline. I look forward to your next video on your improvements to the car. I can see from your driveway that you have quite a large collection of vehicles. I will be going to our local Car Show on August 18th and will be showing my 1991 Ford Crown Victoria LX station wagon one of only 3,800 built in the last year Ford made the big wagon. My other two cars include a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria station wagon, one of 18,000 built and my 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS 50th Anniversary Edition , one of only 250 built with that exterior trim package in Gold Anodized. Have a great week ahead and good luck with your Edsel.
@@phillipbouchard4197 sounds like you’ve got some pretty cool wagons! Thanks for watching!

60 Edsel? Yep, load her up. She's going home with me. We'll sort her out later. Any part of that car could be one of the last. Thanks for the save.
Indeed! Thanks for watching!
Odd car to find intact like that. In other words, a great find! I’d love anything around that age with a 3 speed column shift.
I personally LIKE the bumper/wheel choice. I'd finish the bodywork - what there even IS of it - & hammer up some corner facias from scratch for those bumper corners. Scrap 18gauge sheet is reasonably priced, even free, sometimes. Tail lights look cool as well, probably do something custom for the backups.Your car, though. You do you.
@@bobbofly we actually need the bumpers for our ‘60 Starliner. Thanks for watching!
That rear bumper might be factory installed. I believe that as production slowed on the Edsel, they may have sourced parts from the Ford parts bin. I'm no expert, just love those '60 Fords and Edsels.
The previous owner installed these, the original bumpers came with the car but they are pretty rough, good cores though.
God Bless you too, ✝️❤️
Love it, Love it, Love it!

My dad was on the police force in Colville in the early1960’s.
@@bjepper1 nice! Thanks for watching!
Wow! What a time capsule! Definitely do NOT see any '60 Edsels let alone a Ranger 2dr. Nice find annnnnnnd it a driver still! It's too bad it's a 6cyl car... I never understood why anyone would buy a tank powered by a weed eater. And you are correct, first OHV 6 cyl (beginning of this engine family) was in 1952 in both cars AND trucks. Weird as '52 was the last year for the trucks as '53 was a major re-design. So you got the flat 6 except for 1 year. Crazy Ford.
Those cars were so simple to work on.
@@lars277 the challenge now is finding parts. Some stuff still readily available, other parts you e got to be willing to get a little creative. Thanks for watching!
there were only 2800 of them made so you may not even see another one, that is a great score.
My friend in Campbell Texas has a ton of parts for Galixcies and maybe some Edsels . Plus many cars for Sale . He sells on Facebook in Dallas area .
Good to know! Thanks for the tip!
The manual is really the preferred trans for these models, the automatic was faulty.

I am wondering if that might have originally been a Canadian car.

Ford make a wagon??
Ford did market a wagon under the Edsel brand in 1960, the Villager. The 1960 Edsel Villager 9-passenger is the rarest of the '60 Edsels with only 59 produced.
@@FullSizeFord yeah the Edsel name was shifted to the full size style and old horsecollar grille abandoned right?
