  • Hiking Park Meadow to Golden Lake-
    On July 16, 2016 my friend Kali and I hiked the Park Meadow trail to Golden Lake. This is a 13.5 mile hike and most people do it as an overnight trip, where they camp at Golden Lake. This area in the Three Sisters Wilderness is absolutely spectacular with breathtaking views of the Three Sisters and Broken Top.

      YES! This hike is definitely better in the fall! There were about 20 people camping there already when we arrived and more came within an hour! When we went in October we didn't see anybody up at the lake, only a few campers down at Park Meadow.

      If I could pick one place to peacefully pass away, it would be Golden Lake. I cried the first time I went there and saw that place!

    I backpacked into Park Meadow with my son and stayed the night. That whole area is enchanting. We didn't go to Golden Lake though. I'm definitely going back.

    There is a spring on the south side of the Golden Lake meadow which I get fresh water from.

      Nice!! The water from the creek there is glacier water so it’s pretty fresh.

    Look at all the snow on the mountains! It's so sad this year.

      This was in the month of July. It looked very similar this year in mid July.

    Wow, great views. I like how you do your videos -- good camera presence or whatever you call it! I also like the talking followed by the music. But I guess I'm biased -- I do it the same way myself.

      Thank you so much for the compliments! I just recently started doing RUclips videos, so I'm still figuring it all out :)

    Very scenic, cartwheel show must be memories of being cheerleader in high school?

      Hahahah hardly! I didn't do any sports in high school. I was very much an outsider, never went to any parties or anything like that. Just got straight A's and took music lessons. :D

    Wow! I think you should be compensated by the Office of Tourism for the state of Oregon. I want to go there!

    Burn areas are my least favorite areas to wander through. I always feel like the sun is just relentlessly barely down on me.

      Some areas are worse than others. Once you get to Park Meadow you get to be in the trees.

    It looks stunning! I'm doing an overnight trip in a few weeks. Did you pack bear spray? I cant find any information about bears in the area and want to know if i should also bring a bear canister for my snacks.

      I don’t worry about bears much in central oregon.

      I have been battling with Plantar Fasciitis for over a year now. I keep it at bay by going to the chiropractor. Earlier last year it was partially torn, which is why I had to get back into hiking slowly. But now it just gets sore every once in a while.

    So how do we get a signed copy of your hat?

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  7 лет назад

      Actually only I have this hat. But I am selling t-shirts right now if you'd like to purchase one. The campaign ends on April 20th. www.bonfire.com/hike-oregon/

    2nd video of yours I just watched. See you're wearing a hat this time, but your girlfriend wasn't. Wondered though, both of you are wearing shorts, did you have a pair of regular pants in your pack in case weather changed? And still not carrying any mosquito netting? Had hoped this was going to be another camping video.

    • @HikeOregon
      @HikeOregon  7 лет назад

      +Old, bald fat man no we didn't have extra pants with us. I carried mosquito netting on my PCT hike. Don't generally carry it on day hikes because I can't see through it that well and have a hard time taking pictures.

      Thanks for your answer. On your day hikes, maybe a short video of what you carry and why or add this info to your next one?

      What I carry in my day pack video is coming in a few weeks.

      +Where I Trod it's an awesome trail! I highly recommend doing it in the fall. Late September or early October. Otherwise it's a highway of people.

    So I assume staying on trail only applies to people not making look at me You Tube videos.

      ??? I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. I don’t do off trail hiking. I was on a trail for the entirety of this hike besides the little walk around the lake. I have been asked to go on off trail explorations many times and out of LNT principle I say no to those outings. I know people do off trail exploring and they often times get the most unique views, but I don’t want to participate in that especially when I know I have such a big audience and folks learning from me, I want to be a good example.
