Quick fun fact--if you’re allergic to latex, there are some other allergies that tend to go with it almost all of the time. If you’re allergic to bananas, it turns out you’re more likely to be allergic to latex gloves too.
Outside of latex, what's your favorite application of rubber? I'm pretty transfixed on watching that tennis ball flatten out.

Never cared much for sport, but the rubber made it worth watching anyway.

I live near Vulcan, there's no star trek themed hockey that I know of but they have a lot of star trek themed stuff. Even the funeral home has a mural of Spock painted on it.

My favourite part of rubber's history is that Goodyear discovered it by accident. The story says he knocked sulfur and rubber onto a hot stove, walked away and came back later to find vulcanized rubber. Because sometimes that's science too.

So many things in science have been discovered by accident. It's crazy. Also who just keeps sulfur chilling by their stove?!

Story of Science many of our artificial sweeteners were discovered by lack of proper hand washing and sloppy science.
Other things discovered by accident include matches
      And microwave ovens
Also like a ton of other stuff

what about the environmental impact of producing vulcanised rubber? and what is the best way to dispose of rubber?

so is the addition of sulfur in rubber the reason why it stinks when burned?

Then why do plastics and rubbers turn brittle overtime?

Bruce Liu UV rays from the sun can break the long polymer chains
Then the other chains have to take a higher load.
At some point so many chains have broken that the remaining ones can't take the strain and the whole piece of rubber snaps

So TiO2 has no effect it?

It's not football, it's American Rugby. How can it be football without a ball and barely using the feet?!
