3:15 "all gigas in the area" don't go into a rage? It's only the one giga that got damaged that will rage. it's a very core aspect of giga fights in pvp that whoever rages first usually loses, though raged gigas can and will attack everything nearby and maybe cause a chain reaction if left unchecked.
Thanks for pointing this out! It seems that you might be right. I only play PvE, so i haven't really used the giga, but i will run some tests first, and then place a marker in the video with a correction.
The giga USED to enrage all nearby allied gigas when enraged. It's been awhile, but Spart says they don't use the gigas that often.
U can also take advance of the roaring engraved giga and get some real damage on it. Meanwhile the carchar. Can really heal completely off 1 hit in a few seconds cuz bloodrage. Not to mention carchars have a much better overall hp multiplier when mutated and same with stamina. The carchar is significantly better in missions and osds.
Yea this was how my wife and I dealt with raids on togas. Used two bread rexes and tag teamed till it raged then just keep biting the tail while it kills the raid 😂
@@Quthology certain missions you dont have multiple creature to kill tho so the gigas are better but on ones with many creature carcharo is soo much nicer but in the end of the day get both xD

Giga's on PVE have top Dmg so far since they are capped. Carchar's beiing worked on. Carchars, move fast, can push past trees with ease and get over most rocks. They have a pretty good fall damage. so you can jump off quite a bit of cliffs without worry and they regain health faster than gigas. If capped to max dmg carchars will decimate especially with 100% buff. Tail whip amazing for gen 2 boss fight. Extinction drops a must. Carchars turn so much easier. Easy to get food with carchar because of speed. Theres more but can't think been up all night lol. For me Carchar all the way.
yeahi agree mostly but certain missions or bosses you dont have many creatures to kill for the buff so gigas are so much more damage in that case, also just having it as a pocket giga to kill straight away the gigas is better other than that i love my carchas, so much less boring to ride as well
@@charlieward7606 Well on boss fights, mainly you cant bring gig'as or carchars along as the game wont let you. Open world bosses depends on the boss. As I stated Gigas for years ppl have raised their melee level cap, carchars start with higher melee at wild to tamed levels. Once they hit cap they will be a huge force. Yes gigas and carchars both have their charms. i just think carchars use will be much more useful for pve and even against a giga in pve with its turn radius compared to gigas
I think the Carcharo is a bit underrated when it comes to damage, my father has his Gigan at a base damage of 50% imprinting at 70%. Meanwhile my Carcharos’ that I’ve recently started breeding have 50% base damage imprinting to 76%. I think well bred Carcharos will become far more comparable as they settle into the game.

@@150Nameless it definitely isnt overrated. its very good and honestly a great overall mount. its fast, more stamina than giga, when at 100 stacks does more damage than a giga (its very easy to get 100 stacks), and is great for minibosses on fjordur. not to mention its a lot easier to tame. you don't even need a trap, you just need to bring corpses to it

I'm loving the health regen of the carc, it's the only dino that I can ignore its health and just keep killing, it replaced my giga on pve already

Hey bro, you have to look in the usual Giga spawn spots. If you don't find one, you might have to kill the Giga first. I suggest a wild dino wipe.👍

Yeah mine kills Titano's without too much trouble, it's so fast you can walk backwards with it and the titan can't hit you while you steadily whittle down its hp.

Giga is a risk to the rider and it’s allies, I’d use the giga as a suicidal battering ram for gates or drop a few inside the base to wreck havoc on the survivors and tames left unchecked, while waiting for them to kill the suicidal Gigas or waiting till the rage is done I’ll head in with the carch, yuty, direwolves and Rex army to get rid of the last of the tames. Obviously if it’s metal and tek it’s going to be hard but a man can dream
It take my level 166 wyvern and level 538 Pter to kills giga. My wyvern gave 2 thousand plus damages and my pter gave 500+ damaged. Giga killed bunches of my pters single before. I gave wyvern and pter a lot of damages and healths and more staminas.
To beat giga, gonna need a lot of tamed animals.

Why can’t we all agree that having both the gig and carch will greatly increase your game play. Sure gig will kill the carch as syntac showed in one of his videos. Carch has several different aspects that make it worth taming and having. And well gigs will be gigs! Lol

Bro I'm so sad. I found a beautiful 95 carcharodontosaurus in the snow that I wanted to tame, and I found a throw away level 15 that I tamed because it was the opposite gender, so I practice taming on the 15 and move on to the level 95, only to find out she's gone. Now I have a useless carchar that only does 85 damage, and I can't even ride it till I gain 10 more levels

The nerfed the giga into the ground only bred ones are insanely op now. I mean they did need a nerf but not as bad as they did. They used to to be able to take on thousands of tames with np cause they would just one to two shot most tames. Enraged they go absolutely bonkers.
the only thing the giga really does better is AEO, Carcha will easily rage a giga 1v1 and get 2-3 bites while the giga does it raging animation making the 500 more base damage useless not even counting the rapid healing that counter acts the gigas higher base dmg when both full raged, carcha can easily tail whip a raged giga away avoiding the rage damage, Carcha will easily be able to 1v2 1v3 giga with raging giga and knocking them away with its right click

Such cap that it’s gonna 1v2 or 1v3 lol realistically no one is gonna let you build up your damage on the carch before attacking so most fights you aren’t gonna take out a giga head on. A mix of gigas and carch would be pretty meta for ground pvp

yeah i would never give someone time to bloodrage their carchar, the carchar CAN be better but there is another drawback no one seems to talk about. carchar saddle bps are so much more rare than giga bps, thats a big deal, in the time that ive gotten several good giga bps ive only found one good carchar bp that isnt even up to my standards and is mega expensive. a giga with a 190 armor saddle is going to outperform a carchar with a 50 armor saddle no question.

carcharo requires less mutations since it can stack damage quickly with his kill buff and killing larger creatures (even unclaimed ones or enemy ones) will increase the counter by a lot
its also faster, heals faster, dont rage, has a slightly higher stam, can speed buff other dinos, can decrease incomming heal in enemy dinos and players and also slows anything with this debuff

When talking about health you said the Giga vs. Carcharo had a 1,000 point difference. However, on your chart, you showed that the Giga has a base health of 80,000 vs. a Carcharo having 70,000, which would be a difference of 10,000 health points.
To compare the tamed versions of the Giga vs. Carcharo you have to use a formula. This is the formula for figuring out the health of a tamed dino...
Health points = (Base health * (1 + # of levels into health * (Wild level increase on wiki / base value of stat on wiki)) + additive taming bonus on wiki) * (1 + taming effectiveness * multiplicative taming bonus)
This is a fair comparison of a tamed Giga vs. a tamed Carcharo with each having no levels distributed into health and a 99.71% taming effectiveness inputed into the formula...
Giga (tamed)
V = (80000 * (1 + 0 * (40/80000)) + -63000) * (1 + 0.9971 * 0 * 0)
V = (80000 * (1 + 0) - 63000) * (1 + 0)
V = (80000 * 1 - 63000) * 1
V = 80000 - 63000
V = 17,000 health
Carcharo (tamed)
V = (70000 * (1 + 0 * (56/70000)) + -54000) * (1 + 0.9971 * 0 * 0)
V = (70000 * (1 + 0) - 54000) * (1 + 0)
V = (70000 * 1 - 54000 * 1
V = 70000 - 54000
V = 16,000 health
*Max Bloodrage buff increases healing by 1.75x
In the damage section, you're talking about their base damage wild, not tamed. They both do get the same amount of debuff after taming. They both receive a -80% damage taming bonus additive. So, both of them are equally disadvantaged by this debuff. Here is the formula for damage...
Melee damage% = (Base melee damage% * (1 + # of levels into melee damage * (Wild level increase on wiki / base value of stat on wiki)) + additive taming bonus on wiki) * (1 + taming effectiveness * multiplicative taming bonus)
Here is a Giga and Carcharo with each having no levels in melee damage and 99.71% taming effectiveness...
Giga (tamed)
V = (1 * (1 + 0 * (25/500)) + -0.80) * (1 + 0.9971 * 0.4 * 0)
V = ((1 + 1 * 0) - 0.80) * (1 + 0)
V = (1 - 0.80) * 1
V = 20%
Carcharo (tamed)
V = (1 * (1 + 0 * (10.55/211)) + -0.80) * (1 + 0.9971 * 0.4 * 0)
V = ((1 + 1 * 0) - 0.80) * (1 + 0)
V = (1 - 0.80) * 1
V = 20%
Both would result in a total of 20% melee damage with 1 level into the melee damage stat. So, now simply multiply that (20%) times their base melee damage value to determine their raw damage output...
Tamed Giga with 1 level in melee damage and 99.71% taming effectiveness
20% of 500 = 100 damage
Rage mode (2x damage) = 100 x 2 = 200 damage
Carcharo with 1 level in melee damage and 99.71% taming effectiveness
20% of 211 = 42 damage
Max Bloodrage buff (1.75x damage) = 42.2 x 1.75 = 74 damage
In conclusion, after doing all this research and calculations I determined that you are actually pretty spot on with all your findings! All this math doesn't change much because the Giga and Carcharo have the same multipliers. I just am providing some additional information that could prove useful for some people making the comparison.
TLDR: Comparison of Giga vs Carcharo tamed
Giga after tame stats...
Health (0 levels): 17,000
Melee damage (0 levels): 100
Melee damage (0 levels plus Rage mode): 200
Carcharo after tame stats...
Health (0 levels): 16,000
Health (0 levels with max Bloodrage healing buff): 1.75x healing rate
Melee damage (0 levels): 42
Melee damage (0 levels with max Bloodrage buff): 74
I share this because most dinos at level 1 will be very similar to their base creature stats. The debuff that occurs after taming a Giga/Carcharo makes their health and melee damage stats drop significantly making the base stats not a good metric to compare off of.
Apparently this comment was held for review, so it's the first time I'm seeing it. :)) I did a bunch of testing and calculations before making this video, as it was my first proper Ark video, and I wanted it to be perfect. Of course I still made a bunch of mistakes in this one, and it's not a perfect video. I do have to say that you are using the wrong formula to calculate the carchar buff regarding the damage. The damage dealt by carchar at max bloodrage stacks is 42.2 + 42.2 x 1.75= 116.05. Otherwise, great analysis. :))
@@SpartacusSurvives I was about to pull one of these "☝ well actually 🤓", but I took a minute to think about what you said before responding and you are correct! I stand corrected in that regard. It would do 116 damage with the max blood rage buff, I calculated how much the buff would add, but forgot to include the base damage in my final result. Carcha has the edge because of the lack of rage. If it’s bred right I’m sure it’ll 1 tap enrage gigas
it wont no matter what unless you play fiber it caps out at 254 points higher you cant lvl in it
Tested this in an ASA singleplayer world with official stats but faster maturation speed and taming speed and such and can definitely confirm that max imprinted and max mutated carchars will wipe the floor of any giga, including max imprinted and max mutated gigas. And it all just comes down to that blasted tail swipe. Raw DPS, the carchar loses by A LOT, but that uncanny ability for the carchar to bloodrage and have a CC attack makes the fight so unbelievably unfair in favor of carchars that I've stopped breeding gigas on the server I actually play on. You can make a giga rage very fast, and then at that point all you have to do is switch from biting to tail swiping since raged gigas are solely controlled by the game's AI. Then it's just a waiting game for how long it takes for the giga to finally die. Once it rages, the carchar wins. And because that CC attack has a 360 degree AOE, you could solo multiple raged gigas. Only shot a giga has against a carchar is if the carchar can't enrage the giga before dying, or if the carchar can't tail swipe often enough because it's rider got picked by a flyer, died some other way, or was just whistled to attack. A ridden carchar is the undeniable king of The Island.
It's been years since the incident... But every time I see a giga it reminds me of logging on to ark and seeing my base in shambles with with a gaping hole leading to the outside. I took a breath, and checked tribe log only to see that the poor fool who broke into my base somehow lost a 220 something Giga, 2 Rexes, and a few other assorted tames to the 40 odd hyenas I had chilling in the back of my base lol
Poor dude didn't even get any of my loot as it was hidden outside my base 😂

Yes, DPS would have been more accurate. However, I decided to use the base damage instead, because both of them have *_almost_* the same attack speed.

Verry nice video I don't like the people how set the carcha on top only because it's the newest dino. End looks cool.
Definitely prefer carcs, outside of pvp and titans they are far nicer to work with, because of their insane regen you don't have to worry about cliffs (as much) as they will out heal the fall damage, they can go non stop through all OSD at 100+ melee they don't even need saddles to do it, they out class the Giga on gen missions just due to no enrage and their speed/mobility.
Where's this whole idea that Gigas are "useless in PVE" come from? Speak for yourself, a high level imprinted Giga with a good saddle is extremely useful in PVE on pretty much every map. A meat and hide gathering machine! A dino that will straight up power level you! A partner in crime for stealing wyvern eggs(lure the wyverns out of the trench to the waiting giga and have your way with their eggs!). A tame that can easily and quickly solo kill any other non-boss dino on any map(including wild gigas, carchars, and titanos). There's no other big land tame I'd rather have than a high level imprinted giga with a good saddle!

Speed matters more than absurd damage. Decent/ high damage with speed over crazy damage with low speed any day.
That's what I was thinking. If they tank and no riders, no buff, then obviously the giga is better. But just the speed edge means a good rider can 1v 1 any giga with ease and safety. Like a desmodus killing a wyvern, except the desmodus has almost as good of stats as the wyvern.
I personally think carcharo are better ifffff you get the buff witch can take time to build up fully
Depends on what you're using. Eating someone's tames will fill it up MUCH faster than eating a few dodo's on the beach.
I agree as in giga lines form in less than a minute and you won't be able to run around chasing wild animals trying to buff your car char, I think that gigas will still remain at the top of pop Dinos
Giga will always be my fav.if carcha didn't have that pathetic roar I'd be all over it but emersion is important, and there's just a feeling you get on a giga you can't get from other dinos.however,carcha is faster,more agile,and lack of rage mode makes it more ideal in pvp settings.pve and single player don't have to worry bout that so it's preference really.but it does seem faster for those meat runs to load the hatchery if using a carcha.but ultimately the giga will be my favorite tame in this category
I still have not found any on island, fjordur or lost island maps so far. Checked all giga locations to no avail.
Hey bro! If the Giga locations already have Gigas spawned, you will have to kill the gigas and wait and hope for a Carchar to spawn. You can also use a wild dino wipe. Good luck!

Giga has a good roar. But Carchar is much stronger. When both are topstats and fully imprinted ☝️ Mine slaughters wild gigas with ease and super healing and damage increase per kill. So the isn’t impressive at first, but the carchar is invincible once it has a kill streak. It can kill even wild gigas lv 150

Hey bro! Carchar shares spawn points with the Giga. It there are Gigas in those spawn points, you will have to kill them and hope to get a Carchar instead. You can also do a wild dino wipe, which is the best thing to do to help new creatures spawn, if you play on your own server/singleplayer.

I ran an OSD on Extinction on an unofficial cluster and the Carchar outdid the Giga by far with the giga having a good bit higher base melee
Yeah for OSDs with all those enemies to kill carchars are going to be OP. My pocket giga, GigaChad, can wreck any wild giga he runs into and definitely any wild carchar. They'd have to be bred and imprinted and have a ascendant saddle AND have some smallish things to kill first before they could 1v1 a good tame or wild giga.
@@drew5337 you can kill a wild giga with a primitive saddle and only 60 points in melee in 20 seconds if you have full blood rage and take basically no damage

You forgot to mention the Debuff the Carcha gives to enemies when he attacks them.
Yes. That is true. The shredding debuff is very usefull against creatures like argentavis, daeodon or even other carchars. But against other creatures, which don't have regen buffs it's not that important. Still, I should have mention it.
The way I see it they have slightly different uses, a pocket giga will always be better than a pocket carchar since without time bloodrage the carchar is kinda ass. But for OSDs the carchar will be a great choice. the carchar also has better mobility so id rather use it for meat runs as well.
carchar looks like itl be the best dino to grind pve kills and most pvp combat besides giga, but even then theres a chance due to spamming tail swipe and health regen

Gonna go with basilisk :) I kill both of those dinos 1 on 1 and sometimes 1 on 2 in the oilfields of fjordor. 31k hp 21670 atk. 150s put up a real good fight though.

Is depend of the health not to the number of dinos if you kill 1 dinos with high health you got blood rage faster than you kill very little things
Yes, the amount of bloodrage stacks you get scales with the health of the killed dino. Killing some lvl150 brontos gave me 4, 5 or 6 stacks for each kill, depending on their health. However, killing 6 dillos, dodos, lystos, or other small creatures will increase bloodrage with the same 6 stacks. And I think we can all agree it is easier to kill 6 dillos, regardless of lvl, than a 150 bronto. The health trick is more useful in taming the Carcharodontosaurus, where you can use unclaimed baby dinos with high total health as the best taming method. 😉
I think you forgot an important detail when it comes to base damage values and that is that poison to damage affect the percent means you have a much larger bang for your buck on a giga getting points in the damage me do you want a car Carp end for the car car. It is going to be exponentially weaker at level compared to the giga.

Let the mutations start for a crazy version of it gigas are powerfull but wondering what a Hatch egg of 1000 +melee would be as end results. Its Just came out let see in time what this beast really can become.

The carchar is better by far a max melee mutation carchar with full blood rage does almost 2x more damage per hit than a maxed out melee mutation r giga

I don't think a raged giga is a good comparison, because it goes berserk and kills everything, making it not really your tame anymore.
It really depends on the situation. A raging giga in the middle of your own battle lines is a disaster. A raging giga in the middle of an enemy base is just as good as an unraged one. Indeed, a fully raged giga is not the best for comparison, but that giga with 50% rage meter filled deals as much damage as a 100 stacks carchar. But that is another exaggeration, since you won't always have 100 stacks.
What about food drain rate ? Giga get starve really fast , Carcha is the same ?

CARCH is definitely far more superior than the giga! Especially considering you have to get the giga to rage and then when it does it will more than likely kill you. nah ill stick with the Carch

Honestly, I dont know. I think it should work, since I don't think they share spawn points. But I'm not very experienced with mods, so I might be wrong.

now give the carc the bloodlust stacks at 100 Then watch the giga loose the carc also moves faster so the carc has control on when the battle actually starts, not the giga so anyone riding these 2 at the same level carc would win simply because the carc can avoid the giga always to get the blood lust to win everytime at the same level with similar stats. In the wild they dont agro eachother so you cant do a real battle accurately without using the carcs full ability. Only people without a brain would try to fight a giga without the bloodlust at max. The giga would never kill a carc simply because you couldnt catch it riding a giga.

@@SpartacusSurvives gigs can walk in slow together and kill soakers with there crazy dps while they push in and carcars can rush in and pounce on to a enemy with there speed and they have the spin attack to keep pushing forward

I honestly don't see why everybody loves the giga. Sure it can dmg stone. But that is a PVP only thing. I remember testing my friend's 450+ heavily bred and full imprinted giga against my 270+ spino and rex both only partial imprints. Spino and Rex beat the Giga on dps. Giga is just stupid and annoying to use. I hope to any and all deities that they don't have stupid oversized historical creatures in ARK 2.

Carchar base damage is 528 on the ark wiki.
Last time I checked in game was a week and a half ago, and for me it was still 264 at 100% melee dmg.
