  • whatissabbath.net/ In this video the participants give us a demonstration on how the Jews celebrate the Sabbath.In Judaism, Sabbath and family are inseparable. Long before the sun sets on Friday, Sabbath becomes the focal point of all activity. By mid-afternoon, family members make their way home, carrying flower bouquets and beautifully braided challah bread.
    Sabbath preparations include a table festively set with a white tablecloth, the best dishes, silver candlesticks and a vase for the flowers. Favourite Sabbath foods fill the rooms with delicious aromas. An air of expectancy pervades the house. As one of our Jewish friends expressed it, "The Sabbath starts coming Friday afternoon. By sundown it is all here."
    The mother of the family has the honour of officially receiving the Sabbath. At sundown she lights at least two Sabbath candles, although in some homes a candle is lit for each member of the family.
    Candlelight represents the Sabbath blessing that still shines from Creation. One can light a whole roomful of candles from a single taper without diminishing the lustre of its light. Just so, the rich blessing God intended for us on the Sabbath has not diminished since He blessed the first Sabbath day.

      it is not allowed to make fast on the most important feast day, the shabbat. May Yeshua the Mashiach be with you always. Amen

    How did widows celebrate the welcoming of the Sabbath during Bible times? I am a new widow, and I'm missing our celebration. The children all live far away.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but Yeshua/Jesus isn't considered The Messiah in Judaism, right? Not in orthodox Judaism anyway, no?

    The prayer itself indicates that these people are Messianic Jews aka Jews who believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah.

    Just so you folks know, this is not a kosher Jewish observance, these folks are Messianic. No hate, just want any viewers who are here to learn to realize there's a world of difference and study the one they want, Jewish or Messianic. If you want Jewish, go to Chabad or Aish online, they are credible and accurate sources for kosher Jewish living. Peace to all.

      But if we are praising Yeshua then we are praying to him so it wouldn't be like orthodox or other ones then because they don't believe in Yeshua. :o right?

    THAT is NOT a shabbos celebration which never mentions Yeshua (Jesus). Fake ….

    A comment from the Muslim faith that the Qur'an tells us in the verse of the throne Surah Baqarah second sura of the Qur'an that 'Allah there is no God but He Al Hayy Al Qayyum . Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him' and later in the verse 'His throne extends over the heavens and the earth and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them.'
    This is the English translation of the meaning.
    This is a comment on the idea of the Creator taking rest in the understanding of the people in the video.

      islam is a false religion and the qu'ran a false book so of course it is going to say something completely contradictory to the bible.

    • @katarina6724
      @katarina6724 3 года назад +1

      @@suzannalontes8582 Actually, this line "neither slumbers nor sleeps" is right from a Jewish prayer called The Bedtime Shema... so if you really believe that Judaism is the root of your faith, you won't insult this Islamic passage.
