"What the G stood for was never officially confirmed, but the two main theories are that it either stands for Genesis... or Genocide." That, and the note about the Earth Alliance firing first and using nukes to do it, are your daily reminders that Earth were very much not the "good guys" in this war.
It's amazing how fast ZAFT was able to develop the assault shroud. The Le Cruset team was still in hot pursuit of the Archangel, but the military-industrial complex was all like "Yo, Yzak, we heard yous a raging psychopath, so we went ahead and pimped out the Duel"
I mean basically they just took the measurements while it was on the vasalias was like here go cut this material out of giant plates of titanium welded together and give it a bears color scheme and slap it on
Plus a Duel Blitz Gundam. It was modified into a nuclear-powered MS, and changed ZAKU Warrior's cockpit. The main weapon is Blitz Gundam's beam rifle w/ harpoon launcher.
The Duel may not have been as unique or flashy as its sister Gundams, but its pilot more than made up for it with skill and tact (and the Assault-Shroud upgrade probably didn't hurt, either). Of the five original Gundams, it alongside the Buster were the only ones to survive the end of SEED, and it was also the only one to make it through the final battle in one piece. Now do the development history for the Age System, ASAP.
Not only make it through, I think Yzak and the Duel had the most 'ACES / Gundam' kills didn't he? He took out the Forbidden and Raider Gundams in Seed after everyone else struggled with them for multiple battles. Maybe he's just behind Kira in Aces kills. Super cool
@@gzsprout Yeah the Duel is actually the one with the best track record of the original 4 Gundams. Strike you can make an argument for especially with all the combined variants, but the Duel kicked the most ass of the original Gundam Units. I kinda wonder if they had given the Blu Duel to Yzak how much ass would he have kicked at the end of Destiny?
@@Zeromaru42 the destiny would've been the one getting wrecked by yzak. I was so amazed when yzak took out forbidden. That suit is such a potent threat on the battlefield--firepower close to calamity, capable of deflecting beams and bending it's plasmas for more accurate shots, and a good melee weapon to boot.
One of my favorite mobile suits from the Cosmic Era. It may have been the most basic of all the other GAT-X series but it sure was damn effective taking out multiple Earth forces ships, fighters, mobile suits, and 2 Gundams piloted by enhanced humans. Also it has a sick color scheme.

@@MaddJakd they actually had to return the stolen buster and duel after the war to EA, after the peace talks in the final episode. Which is where the verde buster and blu duel came from. They were the original duel and buster if im not mistaken
Headcanon: the wreckage of the Blu Duel was obtained by Librarian Works to be restored and converted into the Regen Duel. Since the Strike Noir was left more or less intact in Venus' orbit I feel it could have also been retrieved and converted into the Gale Strike.
You know, one thing I liked about Seed as a whole is how much more there was influence in the lore of real mechanics. The strengthened ankle joints for example is a really good touch.
The real reason why the duel Gundam got the assault shroud armor was because it was damaged by the battle with the strike right before re-entry into Earth and because they didn't have a proper way to repair the unit because they didn't know enough yet about phase shift armor they decided to give it extra armor plating and repair the part that they could with basic non-power conductive materials
Also cool little side note the dual Gundam has the most Gundam kills under its belt out of all the ones from the series not including manga specific because the blitz didn't take anything down the ages had to sacrifice itself to blow up the strike the strike took out the blitz the buster didn't take anything down but it's gun was used to take out the raider and that gun was being used by The duel and the duel also took down the forbidden because the Justice didn't take anything down by itself it had to use the meteor unit to take out the calamity the Providence mostly took out the freedom but still got beaten by the freedom. So yeah in the anime the original 8 gundams we see technically 9 because the two different strikes The duel had the best record out of everything when it came to fighting other gundams, I also love the fact it's basically a seed version of the Alex Gundam just without the wrist-mounted Gatling guns, as well as getting two of its own mass production units the coordinator specific brown unit and then the anyone can use it blue unit, it just sucks at the blue duel didn't actually do well in its introduction

Thinking about it, the Duel Gundam consistently looks like the smaller humanoid body of a Braves series super robot before it combines with a bunch of support vehicles into a bigger and badder mech.
My headcannon is that it was either too advanced for its time to be constructed, had complicating parts and that it was a just a test phase of creation in the Simulations which was then refined to make the Gat Series line. If you remember the first few episodes of SEED ORB and the Earth Alliance was unable to create a user friendly OS for Naturals to use as the Hijackers were complaining on how would the Gundam OS run on this complicated process.
@@brykeso25 pretty much. It reminds me of the Delta Gundam and how it was watered down to the Hyaku Shiki because the tech needed to make it just didn't exist back then. Flash forward a few years later, we have the Delta Plus running around capable of doing everything the Delta Gundam was designed to do and more.
I'm guessing that the X101 might be a test bed for advanced AI/"Learning Computer" technology that would help a natural be on par with a coordinator. they shafted this probably because of the cost and the required technology. I also guess that ORB implemented this on the Eclipse Gundam. (Enhanced Computer Logistic Interface Personal/Pilot Support Emulator) this is just a guess though.
Though not my favorite gundam series my favorite designs of the original 5 in Seed is the Blitz but thanks to this im liking the Duel i appreciate an all rounder I like a gundam with weapons for any circumstance on the fly.
The Blu duel is hands down my favourite Gundam of all I time, loads of weapons at the ready and a chassis that has the mobility and durability to keep it going.
The Blu Duel was a beautiful concept for a Gundam. It wasn't its fault that its pilot wasn't Yzak Joule. If it were in Yzak's hands, the Blu Duel would slaughter those Kerberos units. Mudie Holcroft was just a shit pilot, so she wound up dog food.
Funny Enough. In my own Fanfiction stories, I actually have the first G-Weapon to be produced being the GAT-X101 Rubicon which is basically the same body type as the later Duel but sports the Strike's Armor Schneiders Knifes built into those shield-like things on the shoulders of the Duel. It also uses the same beam rifle as the Strike (What I call the M702) and can be equipped with a modified form of the Buster's Missile Pods. It also has different colored eyes. I also sometimes have an extra pair of Duel Units produced around the same time as the original version.
Kira and Athrun= spend ten episodes trying to kill the trio of Druggie suits with their top-of-the-line Gundams. Yzak= kills two of them with the second-oldest Gundam in the same battle.
I wonder if Kakarot is gonna make an update to this video with the Blitz Duel. Honestly, I'm damn glad they properly thought out about the og Duel and Buster.
The truth behind the G in G weapons and G project is Gressorial Armament Tactical - eXperimental Project, basically if they didn't go with G project and G weapons as their project names then the coordinators would never have discovered the project since the project would have been named the GATXP which by the looks of that name they would have assumed it would have stood for a wall project between earth and the plants to try and prevent any more damage/chaos between them. Basically the name is what gave the project away thus led to the conflict escalating.
The Slash Zaku Yzak had in SEED Destiny proved to be more than a match to Gundams if the pilots were inexperienced. Yzak, Dearka, and Athrun basically manhandled the Chaos and Abyss Gundams. After all, in CE, Gundams aren't these all-powerful machines that can tank everything (which is usually the case in UC and other universes). They're glass cannons in CE so the difference in machine performance can often be closed by the gap in pilot skill.
Yzak could've become an instructor and maybe an even way better mentor to the Minerva's pilots. Yzak should be Viper in ZAFT MS School imo. Smoking those wannabe aces in every single exercise. Destiny could've been better if it use Stardust Memories as a template instead of Zeta.
He deserved a new Gundam, plus best Gundam kill count of all the 5 prototypes, I mean the man did take down to 2nd generation gundams with a 1st gen and the oldest Gundam in the series because the other 4 prototypes the Hyperion and astray gundams were all built after it was started. So if anything zaft very easily could have built him a brand new one with all the data they had on it and called it the duel 2 or rebuilt the testament Gundam without the nuke generator and mirage colliod system or given him the impulse destiny unit
Man, the Duel got shafted in the hands of Yzak. It showed some of its props at the end of the war when the pilot grew a brain that pushed aside some of his arrogant ego.
Lacus Clyne: Interesting. I'll show everyone how to S.T.E.A.L. G.U.N.D.A.M. Lacus: By the way, my dad is your boss so the Gundams are technically mine.
2:40 I wonder why the Earth Federation didn't try testing the Phase Shift on the mobius mobile armors. They were already in use, didn't need a new OS, a natural could pilot
The Duel gundam was over tune with reinforced inner frame. example when the gold frame fried it rail bazooka broke it arm the duel was suppose to use it regularly
the more i watch seed material, the more i am convinced that it was less the need for a more advanced os for naturals, and more that a superhuman was needed to make the flailing of the ginn resemble purposeful movement. that's my theory.
You're correct because the control scheme shown for the mobile suit is definitely not optimal. You can't use traditional control (such as in fighter jets, which it was used as reference for ms control) because the 'human' movement is much more complex than just simply moving a vehicle up down left right forward and back. So yeah, the Coordinators have to work with terrible control to move the ms. Its an equivalent to flying a plane using only keyboard. With a lot of work it can be done, but it will take a lot big brain to compensate for the terrible control.
@@secondsein7749 the zaku development vs the ginn development is another clue, the ginn was developed much quicker. i may not be remembering right, but i think somewhere said the gundam was built with high end materials partially so it wouldn't tear it's self apart while the learning computer help to fine tune the movements. a natural piloting a ginn would probably dislocate the machines joints.

That was my favorite of the Gundam Seed Gundams after that I always liked the Calamity a lot.
Showing my boy Yzak some love by showing him taking out the Forbidden
Duel Gundam is my favorite , out of all Earth Alliance GAT-X series Duel survived the entire Seed until the the end.
Yep.
Just imagine Yzak getting a new "ZGMF" Duel Gundam after Lacus seats her position as Chairman of PLANT
Boy do we have good news for you
Love these videos, even though I've never really been into Seed 😅
Hey man I just want to say I love your videos and the time and effort you put into them thank you for continuing to make videos here on RUclips at such great quality
The duel is my favorite because it uas the second best looking beam rifle and a shoulder cannon, and hust a generally good looking suit.
Thinking about it, the Duel Gundam consistently looks like the smaller humanoid body of a Braves series super robot before it combines with a bunch of support vehicles into a bigger and badder mech.
The Duel is such a great looking MS!
Gotta wonder why the gatx-101 was never made or even mentioned in a side story. But it might be shown in seed eclipse or the upcoming seed movie.
@@brykeso25 The lazy answer would be it just being the Red Astray...
Though not my favorite gundam series my favorite designs of the original 5 in Seed is the Blitz but thanks to this im liking the Duel i appreciate an all rounder I like a gundam with weapons for any circumstance on the fly.
My favorite of the original 5 is probably the strike for the same reason, it has more versatility than the other gundams
Forbidden: The newer and more superior machine will always win!
Duel: Hold my beer!
One of my favorite mobile suits.
How do you talk about the Blu Duel and not mention how it was the favorite snack of the Kerberos BuCue Hound??
now im imaging the pilots as heavys just nom noming the Blu Duel lol
Exactly. The Blu Duel was definitely a superior MS to the original, but the pilot on the other hand was not.
Mudie was just an abysmal pilot
Dude that's too dark and traumatic for this video.
@@shauqiharris2772 He already showed that clip twice on this channel.
The Blu duel is hands down my favourite Gundam of all I time, loads of weapons at the ready and a chassis that has the mobility and durability to keep it going.
Bucues would take a stab at this :)
@@patrickramosofmanila Mudie would let that happen lol.
@@lukabazookastj9462
She's and Blu Duel inevitably being a *dog food* for them...🐕🐶
The Blu Duel was a beautiful concept for a Gundam. It wasn't its fault that its pilot wasn't Yzak Joule. If it were in Yzak's hands, the Blu Duel would slaughter those Kerberos units. Mudie Holcroft was just a shit pilot, so she wound up dog food.
It was still dog food
Funny Enough. In my own Fanfiction stories, I actually have the first G-Weapon to be produced being the GAT-X101 Rubicon which is basically the same body type as the later Duel but sports the Strike's Armor Schneiders Knifes built into those shield-like things on the shoulders of the Duel. It also uses the same beam rifle as the Strike (What I call the M702) and can be equipped with a modified form of the Buster's Missile Pods. It also has different colored eyes. I also sometimes have an extra pair of Duel Units produced around the same time as the original version.
One of my favorite SEED MS
my favorite seed mobile suit! hope they make a revive HG or RG of this. DUEL without the assault armor is so simple yet beautiful
I always wonder how you research these things, or you just know these by heart. I'm learning a lot, Gundam lore is really interesting!
It would be interesting on a strike gundam development history video if that happen
I would definitely love to see that Fortestra in Gunpla form
Kira and Athrun= spend ten episodes trying to kill the trio of Druggie suits with their top-of-the-line Gundams.
Yzak= kills two of them with the second-oldest Gundam in the same battle.
Yeah never expected that the Duel itself can handle the Forbidden and Raider😀
Wonder if it was with the help of KYOJI (look who's voicing Yzak). Now imagine Yzak in the Destiny. Those palms are burning red.
@@Joshua_N-A Could also have gone Made in Heaven on them--also looks at the JP VA.
The Duel Gundam is one of the coolest of the OG cosmic era Gundam to me.
I wonder if Kakarot is gonna make an update to this video with the Blitz Duel. Honestly, I'm damn glad they properly thought out about the og Duel and Buster.
Could you cover the Dom development history?
a fave of mine as well that and the GM
Gelgoog.
Regen Duel is my favorite Cosmic Era Mobile Suit.
Needs a MG along with Blu Duel.
Basically the name is what gave the project away thus led to the conflict escalating.
the coolest gundam in CE era
i love your videos sir !
3:56 🤣🤣🤣
*Declares war on zaft
*Zaft stops nuclear power on the hole planet
*Create new ms
*Get ms stolen by zaft
Cant catch a w
The Duel is my absolute favorite of the Earth Alliance G-Weapons.
It's a shame that yzak didn't get a gundam in destiny
He is probably the best pilot in C.E that without a special abilities just pure skills
He's still badass even just piloting a Slash Zaku Phantom.
@@akaneriyun4774 I wouldn’t say glass canons since they normally take a lot of hits before going down
He deserved a new Gundam, plus best Gundam kill count of all the 5 prototypes, I mean the man did take down to 2nd generation gundams with a 1st gen and the oldest Gundam in the series because the other 4 prototypes the Hyperion and astray gundams were all built after it was started.
Yeah I always loved that Gundam but hated the pilot lol
At least he's a better characters in Seed Destiny than the main cast of characters.
@@HamanKarn567 let me guess you hated him cause he shot down the orb refugees, thats where i started hated him
He should've been the one who slap Shinn.
Hey man, you think you can do a development history on some 00 stuff?
Maybe even the Twin Drive system or the early gen Gundams?
My favorite Cosmic era mobile suit, very nice 😄👍
Lacus Clyne: Interesting. I'll show everyone how to S.T.E.A.L. G.U.N.D.A.M.
Lacus: By the way, my dad is your boss so the Gundams are technically mine.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Interesting, I always suspected the Strike was the prototype base and the Duel was the 'standard' model instead of the other way around.
2:40 I wonder why the Earth Federation didn't try testing the Phase Shift on the mobius mobile armors. They were already in use, didn't need a new OS, a natural could pilot
They probably didn’t have enough power
@@jakealter5504 don't forget its secrets are sought after. Eurasian Federation and Atlantic Federation are locked in some Cold War.
@@Joshua_N-A true
basically the Cosmic Era's equivalent to the RX-78-2 Gundam and its variants.
I always thought the G stands for Gundam in the G Weapons designation of the G Weapons of the Earth Alliance Forces.
The next one of the G weapons to have their history develop video can be Buster Gundam?
The Buster Gundam is so underrated from the Cosmic Era. Its probably among the best long range/artillery type MS from any universe.
@@goufr3540 and even tho calamity is way more powerful than the buster, the buster is way more balanced
Daily reminder that Acteon tried to sell a MS-sized hacking tool to ZAFT while being at war with ZAFT
Corporations. Like Destro in live-action GI Joe says: "Never caught selling to both sides."
Awesomeness!
Finally!!
It's surprising how bad the main moblie armors were for the earth that a few cost effective redesigns would have made it a powerhouse
Beautiful ❤❤❤
I can hear Yzak's "Urusai!"
