dude, dont worry about struggling with words in english. Speaking a non native language is difficult and i commend you for it because we do a lot of stupid things in ours :)

Often in my designs, I do both. Pretty much every complex assembly is going to have some existing components and figuring out how they are going to be integrated into the design is a back-and-forth process. F360 makes this really easy to do.

Thanks for the explanation Lars. However, I think that what is meant by bottom up is really about Assembly, hence, bottom up is creating all the parts separately and then assembled. As opposed to Top Down, where the components are modeled in one file.

This is correct if anyone is curious Bottom up means you are creating individual parts or components that you than bring together in an assembly, each part in the file exists on it own, and when you create the assembly - New component - you select the External Option (allowing for sperate files). On the flip side the top down approach Starts with the Assembly - you select the Internal Options (creating everything in one file) - and create each component from within the Assembly. Each have advantages and disadvantages. For example Top down is good for quick R&D iterations where as Bottom up is good if you want to reuse a part/component in other assemblies. To answer James Carters question - the file structure for Fusion is laid out for you when you select the Assembly "internal" vs "External" option - In bottom up will have different files for each component and Top down will have one file for everything. Hope this helps - sorry if its 5 years too late - I just saw this and thought I would help

I try as much as possible to chuck my sketches inside the components they are used to create and I try to have as fewer sketches per body per plane as possible. I only create a new sketch on the same plane for a given body if the sketch I am working on is becoming cluttered and confusing or if it needs to be modified to fit a body that has to be designed later. A lot of the time I spend designing is optimizing my sketches for overall timeline and browser clarity. I wish Fusion offered the possibility to merge sketches or create a new sketch from selected sketch elements, kind of like Photoshop does "New layer from cut".

Just a comment. About 2 years in to Fusion. I tend to do a 'master sketch' that defines the major dimensions. When creating a component I may project relevant elements from the master sketch into a components own sketch or just extrude the component from the master sketch. I think one is balancing the complexity of an individual sketch. So that is top down I guess. Too many points on a sketch and it can become confusing. Too many sketches and it can also become confusing :)

Lars, do you have any videos on 3DPDF for Fusion 360? Like exporting a model into a 3DPdf or importing a 3DPdf. Thank you very much.

Joe M I think you can use Drawing menu
you can make all directional images for model in drawing sheet
and as far as I know you can save it as PDF

@@cadcamstuff Oh so you press and hold. Didn't try that. I find in most tutorials that some of those key strokes are not mentioned. We have switched from Mastercam X3 to this so it's a huge adjustment. The last time I was on any CAD program it was 2007? Thanks for the help.
