All depends where you are coming from. For most people it is expensive but if your from a Western county you might find it cheap. Americans, especially from California, because of their ridiculously high cost of living always seem to think other places like South Korea are cheap.
It would also be nice to know if their flights are multi-city, direct or not. Direct flights are obviously more expensive. On average from Toronto, Canada it is consistently around the $2,000 CAD mark for a direct flight and around $1,700CAD for a 1 or 2 stop flight. I’m shocked so many people have cheap accommodation. What is the quality? These days in Seoul, the price for an average, clean and presentable AirBnb runs you about $90+ CAD a night. Hotels about $125CAD + a night. So without anything else, my cost is about $2,200 CAD direct flight + $1,435 in an Airbnb on the far east end of Seoul close the Gyeonggi province. That’s without food, transportation etc. Luckily those things are not incredibly costly there.
The young Australian lady is so bubbly and sweet. She is clearly excited to be in Korea and been planning this trip for some time. Shelling out her life savings she clearly respects the Korean culture. 🙏 hope she enjoys her stay and perhaps returns one day:).
@@zaylek6568 I hope you visit Busan and Jeju. There is much more to the country other than Seoul. There are also many wonderful foods to try. An Australian friend of mine visited last year. I wanted to send her food recommendations, but unfortunately she and her husband are not passionate eaters. Food is a HUGE component of Korean culture! I strongly recommend you visit in spring or autumn. Korea is very hot and humid in summertime.
For me and my family, trip to South Korea would cost my family $10,000 easily just for 2 weeks. Or could be more because summer time, everything goes up….. so I haven’t been going there for awhile even though my family lives there
When I went for 3 weeks (from the US) it was roughly $3000. I did very little shopping and bought cheap food exclusively though so keep that in mind. But yeah I had an extremely nice AirBnB for like $55 a night which was better than the hotel that would twice that price. I also tried a hostel that was ~$20 a night but it was summer and it had no AC so I couldn't take it. I plan on going back next year and from what I can tell KRW has slightly fallen in value so I think a similar budget could work if you're frugal.
@@DailyClips214 The best option is to have a job where you can work wherever that still pays you in USD. Then you can take advantage of the exchange rate. Otherwise most people can make enough to support themselves if they are qualified and can get a job in Korea. Especially if they are not living in Seoul.
try busy times as during vacation and you would see that everything gets more expensive. Because its not a nusy month for flying. in december and april/may things will get more expensive
Depends where you live. In Europe we have 29 days off work plus bank holidays if you’re from the uk. So you can just do what you like. If you’re working remote or have savings even luckier
I went this year in October for 11 days. Excluding Airbnb and Flights I spent 1,200€ there. But I did alot if things and went shopping almost every day.
Cheap. My friends and I went “budget” staying in hotels of 100 bucks a night and flight ticket of 800 and we spent $5k SGD in 11 days 🥲 granted we shopped everyday for like 200-300 sgd each day
@@UniversalDust yeah that comment doesn’t really make sense because the rural area is basically farmland they probably mean don’t go to a major city if you want to experience real Korean cuisine

You’re a superb journalist - you let them talk and add no judgment. This makes people open up so much more. Cheers for the consistently great content.
Seen a similar video from Takashii from Japan recently too. It's nice to see how these different countries compare when it comes to travel costs.
This video is so helpful with the time period and the whole budget written down, thank you so much for your work!
