- Outkast’s roots are planted firmly in the realm of hip-hop, with the duo being largely responsible for the surge in popularity of Atlanta hip-hop in the mid-1990s. But “Hey Ya” is a slightly different story. Written, produced, and performed by André 3000 on the duo’s 2003 double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, “Hey Ya” merges pop, hip-hop, rock, and funk to create an eclectic track reminiscent of Prince in his heyday. It’s a great song from the group’s expansive catalog, and it’s the song Scranton rock band Tigers Jaw chose to take on for its Undercover. Decked out in sunglasses, the band brings some of its own flair to the track, adding a guitar solo and having a lot of fun with the call-and-response section.

The room must be very bright!
but oh so cool
They need to keep track of the visions in their eyes.
They're undercover. :V
You kidding? With that much shine in a room I can see from here it's bright as hell!! 😉
The cheese factor was so cheesy that it disrupted the cheesiness continuum and came around full circle to being incredible. Absolutely fantastic.
Dude, these guys were just having a blast. That was a fun ride.
Love Tiger's Jaw...this is the last thing I'd expect them to do. It's friggin' great! Looks like they had a total blast...and that's what it's all about. Werd.
This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen.
That was fun
Don't let this cover distract you from the fact that AV Club privated all the old seasons of Undercover and need to bring them back
GettingYouMadForLels all of the old ones are on their watchable account
I don't get why people hated this lol they're just having fun. It's like a garage band fucking around
okay anyone who actually knows this band and has been following them for years knows that this is easily the best thing ever, and honestly hella fucking fun. love these guys
Matt Campbell I'm glad they're back together.
Matt Campbell acoustic guy is a natural
Hell yea this is good sh!t

That guitar player is so hip he's wearing TWO button-ups
Pretty rad
Twice as nice!
Stewie: I wear long sleeve shirts under short sleeve shirts under long sleeve shirts.
@@scottbarr4249 The Guitarist is also a great singer which is a Big Hit.
I’d like to be as hip as him
the sunglasses, alright's, and harmonized guitar solo make this video one of the the best AV undercovers that ive ever seen, rivaling with punch brothers covering reptilia. love tigers jaw
Best of the season. 😄
90s old navy commercial
This great and what being a band is about just doing what you love and having fun
this is modern art if i've ever seen it
Severely underrated comment
The best cover of this song, even better than the original, simply amazing.
Tigers Jaw is the most awkward band in existence and I think thats why I relate to them so much. They get me.
most fun cover yet.
brightest jazzmaster i ever heard
Or darkest Jaguar?
Jaguar+Jazzmaster=brighter than the sun, hence the sunglasses
p sure youre hearing the jag
The band is:
Bass: Possum Jenkins
Guitar: Johnny Vulture
Keyboards: Benjamin Andre
Drums: Dookie
Lead Vocals: Andre (Ice Cold) 3000
Backup Vocals: The Love Haters
Thumbs up this comment if you want AvClub to add these captions to the video.
Greg Lam thank you very much!!
If I'd seen this live, I would have really enjoyed it because they just went ahead and had fun with it.
The most fun band in existence.
This is a good cover. What are you talking.
I'm talkin' good cover

3:40 Guitar Duo, really Harmonizing.
It's a cover, they aren't OutKast? Why is everyone hating, it's obviously not the original but it's a cool spin on it.
Whooaaaa it's a strange feeling to see a local band on AV club. Good for you guys!
so fun these guys!
this is actually amazing I'm in love
Ya se puede volver a ver 🖤
That was satisfying from start to finish.
the middle part is my favourite part it's like Michael Scott reincarnated
I love that keyboard sound man, great cover and so much vigor
this makes me so happy
I love Michael Phelps' cover of Hey Ya!
I thoroughly enjoyed this cover 🙏
This is fracking great!
Not even a minute in and am impressed! Great cover
yup, all three of those guitars are necessary.
I'm not familiar with the band, I was just searching hey ya covers and this turned out to be the most amazing! Awesome performance! I dont understand the dislikes though.
WE'RE BACK!!!!
Luke Schwartz has no shame
the other guitarist is wearing 2 shirts...
ToxicCokeCola i think technically its a shirt with a jean jacket over top.
A denim shirt is not a jean jacket.
That's some Steve Bannon level fashion right there.
I just rocked out to this
That was fucking amazing tbph
Bloody good lads (and girls).
Lmfao this was so fun to watch
This is cool.
Holy fuck the video is back up?!?!
High school talent show tier.
This is such a fun cover
What's up with Ben's dad going through a midlife crisis aesthetic? Enjoyable cover though.
Jebasu wtf jebasu i thought you only liked metalcore :p

Fucking love this band, and this cover is great fun
Awesome!!!!

That was really good.
I don't care what y'all say, this was a fun cover.
Oh I love it. Young people's love song who like sitting on rooftops and writing lyrics until the moonlight and silly stuff like that.

beast mode
This is bad azz
i dig this lmaoooo
This was so dope
Los amo ❤
Was there a sale on sunglasses?
🔥🔥🔥
This is one of those songs where no matter what you do the cover will never even come close. Props to them for trying, it was competent.
brik cell fone Obadiah Parker's version is pretty dang good.
RemyTodd considering its the cover he's famous for, I'd hope so
Postmodern Jukebox did a pretty awesome cover in a 70s style I believe
See and I'm like, this is one of those songs where no matter who plays it, it's a bop
Covers are meant to be fun and done as a tribute, unless there releasing a cover version it doesn't have to sound exactly like the original
oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght! oh RIght!
i want this as a single so bad
ITT: No fun allowed
This is beautiful.
Hey this is pretty good
Luke makes this band and it's not even his band
whos luke?
I hated this when I first heard it 6 years ago. Now in 2024, I'm loving it.
To paraphrase Sia, I've changed for the better.
This is great. My favorite cover is Obadiah parker's. it's muah perfecto
How many guitar players does a band need
Andrew Ellis listen to The World Is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid To Die and then complain about the amount of guitarists
@UCsDdQUPa4NvPvf2f00E5zfw Tiger Jaw is an Awesome Cover Band. They would've loved to play this one w/ the Mandarin High School Choirs, Bands, & String Orchestras to add some more bling.
Tigers Jaw could sing any song and it would sound like a Tiger's Jaw song.
in so torn i dont know which version i like the most
From 2:57 to 3:02 the vocals reminds me of The Hives singer
dear god i have so many questions about this performance.
Scott Aukerman singing?
5:18 Muted Acoustic-Electric Strumming sounds kinda Snare like
2:40 onward is fucking gold
Fucking awesome! WOW! Wtf. That was amazing!
HEY YA!!!!
3:40 Harmonized Guitar Duo
Nice haha love it
Luke is adorable
This sounds like Weezer trying to imitate Tigers jaw on an Outcast cover
Oh boy. that middle bit was the whitest thing I've ever heard.
JetblackThemeTime please explain what you mean by "whitest thing" I don't understand what you mean
@KevanG Studio - "whitest thing," as in BLAND. Like staring at a white wall in an empty apartment building that stays a white wall once it's surrounded by Scarface & 311 posters. Or the white paintjob of a fleet leased company van parking at a custom car show. Or a package of Wonder Bread surrounded by an aisle of much tastier bread. The musical equivalent of that.
Your world is dying Rob.
The whole thing was the whitest cover ever. Completely stripped of soul and feeling.
AV Club has a real talent for finding some of the worst covers possible.
Craig Carmean Tigers Jaw is a god tier band! Take that back! ;__;
whats whiter? this cover or adam's post-tigers jaw career as wicca phase springs eternal?
Oleg Ustimenko as much as I respect and admire Adam as a songwriter, pretty much nothing is whiter that Wicca
Oleg Ustimenko AHHHH FUCKIN ROASTED, but very true adam can't fucking rap to save his life
yall fuckin lames quit sleepin
Yeah people with white skin are so lame huh, there's nothing racist about that at all
Wait wait Wicca Phase is Adam lmao enlighten me I’m not a m a s s i v e fan of either
3:40 Guitar Duo
Is the singer playing the same part as the acoustic player but In a different key?
