yeah, and he had already composed several orchestral pieces, which is why this one is so...busy. Of course, normal people don't try to speedrun the thing. I urge you to find literally any other performance if you've never heard this piece.
I don't very much care for Ogdon's performance here. He tears through it, and plays everything far too staccato. It's like being beaten over the head with a baseball bat. Listen to Rachmaninoff himself play it, he plays it much more slowly and allows everything to flow, as I think a Nocturne should. (Rachmaninoff takes 4:39 to play it! Nearly twice as long!) Technically speaking, though, Ogdon's playing is absolutely amazing.
the peace is great, but ... I don't want to say bad Things about ogdon, but in my Opinion this interpretation wasn't sooo good. There wasn't much feeling in it I think. But Technically great (: Thanks for sharing
so rachmaninov composed this when he was 14?
now that's a brilliance

number 2 is the best
absolute stunning
Too fast. Voicing was weird.
This piece is sometimes very similiar to Tschaikowsky, his big Idol. His later works aren't like this. Very beautiful

Ogdon the butcher.... Rachmaninoff doesn't deserve this!

Don't beat around the bush, this interpretation is simply terrible.
@Bognarfan I'm 14 I couldn't do that for a millennial.I was born in December 7 1996
modern child has no opportunity and patient to write long songs
classical is long songs
2:36 引人入勝
doesnt sound as good as Idil Biret playing this
my cat sounded better when he stepped on my keyboard and had a panic attack
This interpretation is *actually* horrible
