This take about NOT niching down is interesting, but it assumes that serving everyone automatically leads to making more money, which isn’t necessarily true. In reality, going broad works only if you already have authority, massive distribution, or an infrastructure of systems and processes that can support different market segments.
If you’re someone like you William or Alex or Iman, people already trust you, so casting a wide net doesn’t dilute your positioning. If you have a huge audience, you can afford to go broad because you have the infrastructure to convert a wide range of leads. And if you’re running a well-built business with a team, systems, and capital, you can create different offers for different people without stretching yourself thin.
But for most people, especially those still building their reputation, trying to serve everyone is a trap. It weakens your messaging, makes your positioning unclear, and forces you to compete with bigger players who can outspend and out-market you. Plus, different market segments have different needs. A beginner, an intermediate, and an advanced business owner all face different challenges. If you try to sell the same thing to all of them, you end up with a generic offer that doesn’t deeply resonate with anyone. And let’s not forget conversion rates, when your messaging is too broad, no one feels like you're speaking directly to them, making it harder to generate strong sales.
The smarter play? Start niche, expand later. First, dominate a specific audience, solve one clear problem, and refine one high-converting offer. Then, once you have authority, cash flow, and systems in place, expand into related markets strategically. Over time, you can build a scalable ecosystem, however you do it in stages, not all at once. In my opinion, it’s not about serving everyone, it’s about serving the right people at the right time.

The point of having a community is not for people to share their knowledge, that's why you're there. But as you said, sharing results, doing accountability together, sharing when they're down & getting uplifted even by someone one chapter ahead, makes a lot of sense. So yeah, if you're looking for the wrong things out of a community, don't do it. Hope this helps.

Loved this video bro. The argument behind niching down is usually twofold:
    1) You can charge way more for the same product/service because it’s easier for you to make a compelling argument that you can solve the specific persons problem better than a generic and commoditized solution. Your messaging can be much more compelling to that specific person since it’s focused.
    2) There are huge companies that occupy the mass market space that would be very difficult to beat for someone starting out.
Curious what your thoughts are on this man!

    • @willia_mbrown

Agreed dude, and thanks for the kind words. To rephrase what I meant here, I mean: Serve the whole niche, not just one small part of the niche. If we take "online education" for example, do not pick a small part and serve that. Don't "niche down" into the niche. Instead, serve the whole niche-if that fits what you want to build and achieve, obviously. For me, I want every single person in the entire "online education" niche to buy something from me. That's why I have so many offers [like i mention in the video]. People often say "just have one offer" which is fine, but it limits you. I can't tell you how much more money my company makes by going broad and having a solution to every problem people face in my niche
Another example, golf coaching. If you like, you can just be a 6 who teaches 1's. That's awesome and you'll make great money. But why not dominate the whole niche? Have an offer that helps 1's and an offer that helps 3's and an offer that helps 5's. Have an in-person option, have a course-only option. Have a mid-tier group coaching offer and a top-tier one to one coaching offer. Have a 1-day in-person offer for the top of the market. Write a book to soak up the demand below-market and serve the people who are only starting to become problem-aware, and so on
This is what's helped me scale to eight figures in just above a year with my new Build, Grow and Exit consulting business. Hope it helps 👍

However, I'd love for you to clarify your last point about not niching down.

I think the main reason why people say "niche down" is to avoid as much complexity as possible. Saw a video of Charlie the other day where (and Sam also talked about this once) he talked about making your business as "simple" as possible and have a low "complexity score". Meaning "less is more" because the more niches you serve, the harder you may have to work to maintain a certain level of income. But I understand your point Will, not capping yourself to just one specific market as you may lose on revenue that you could have collected.(and Sam also talked about this once)

I also want to create a quality-and-complete trading program myself this year. Because you been there and done that, I was just curious to know what was your approach, how did you do it? maybe you could share it in a short video format or a comment below? It was high ticket, the material was solid, there wasn't a community? I was just curious to know what else? Whether you answer this or not your RUclips videos alone are very insightful.
