The quick manner Tobias chose his name, when he questioned about the face selection, at no point did Tobias feel happy during the music test probably showing his emotions of being trapped in a Tardis ripoff, His ‘brief’ summary of human history is outspoken by Tobias’s knowledge of someone’s death, and his Childhood cat.

The fact Tobias never felt happiness during the music test gave me serious chills. This is so well done, everything flows along nicely and the pacing is wonderful. The way a "everything is normal" vibe tries to keep on lingering yet the uneasiness slowly fades in and takes over, I love it.
Yeah a lot of analog horror vids like to use this illusion of safety kind of thing.
I thought it was a joke because the music was all abrasive and horrible. Imagine playing those same music clips for a baby, it would cry.
The music part didnt really do it much for me because the second i saw it i knew that he wouldnt feel any happiness. It was predictable, not bad at all but still.

For anyone confused or looking for confirmation, yes it is heavily implied this "robot" is actually just a human brain, also implied to be the brain of a missing man by the name Tobias D. which is why it recognized the cat.

One of Soulcorp’s employees kidnapped, killed, and used the Spectrephone on him to bring him “back to life”.
Somehow, the Spectrephone was built into the machine that Tobias resides in.

What I take from this is that Tobias was kidnapped by soulcorp for the experiment. Someone who worked at soulcorp named Mathew knew Tobias but did nothing. Tobias is angry at Mathew for this and vows revenge. There is also the person who died in the gas leak accident but idk what they do. But the most important thing we learned is that Tobias had a cat.
I think soulcorp caused the gas leak and stole Tobias’s body then they put him in the machine
According to the end credits. Matthew is the narrator we hear during the video.

Something about [[TOBIAS]]'s voice, both distorted and fully functioning, is horrifying, fascinating, and soothing.
Props to both the Voice Actor and Xploshi's chosen effects used.
All in all. Outstanding work.
He's well-spoken. It's more pleasing to listen to than the "VENGEANCE, KILL, VENGEANCE, KILL, NIGHTMARE, I WILL COME FOR YOU" lines that plague this genre.
I think it's the confident robotic tone in Tobias voice along with his defiance creates something genuinely creepy

If he was just a robot then, robots trying to recognize things may come up with weird stuff like that or "fox cat cat" basically either things that don't make sense or bad grammer it whouldn't mean anything, but he definitely had a human soul
A bit messed up of Soulcorp to show a picture of Tobias's childhood cat the say in correct. I'm guessing that could be a test of whether he still has his memories, and there was the thing about the dead Joe, I wonder why that was shown.
My theory for Teaching Tobias is that Soulcorp wanted to do anything they could to replicate life through robots. To do this, they used similar technology to the Spectrephone to capture the soul of Tobias into the robot via his ashes. Basically, using the technology of the Spectrephone to trap Tobias’ soul in the machine to replicate his soul after and make a bunch of sentient robots. What Tobias said at the end was suggesting that the people would cause a collapse event and Tobias would be free to strike revenge on Soulcorp for their misdeeds.
Post script: I think collapse events can only happen with damaged souls. Maybe they killed Tobias, but he turned out to be a damaged soul. They couldn’t afford to kill another person, so they just had to continue.
I really like this series.
going by the spectrephone advert, souls can also be damaged if they died in agony. I don't imagine any soul would be happy or willing to talk to their murderer.

I love their parodies but this kind of content is even better. It's so enigmatic and creative. I love efforts made to make it seem like old found footage or a secret government file of a shady project. Reminds me of Kane Pixels backrooms lore work and some of Gooseworx's stuff.
Ah yes, the best way to dispose of an advanced experiment of dubious morality: Throw it in a trash can! With protocols like that I’m not surprised they keep having horrible mistakes in their projects.

My theory: if you look closely at the end, you can see that the persons name on the missing poster is Tobias. This means that the robot was actually a real person trapped in a robots body. That is probably why during the object recognition test, he said “I see my childhood cat.” This most likely means that soulcorp traps peoples souls into robots.
Well if you pay attention, at a few points of the video, a graphic of a human brain inside of the shell appears to represent the robots knowledge. What if they are using a human brain as a base processing, like a computers cpu? Maybe more entries will tell us how tobiases brain was taken or who joe ferris is.
Now that i think about it why would they chose images of his family cat and somebody tobias knows for the image recognition bit?

Holy shit this was incredible. It's such a nice change of pace to see analogue content like this with no jumpscares, just pure, unfiltered creep factor. Tobias's design is unsettling as all hell, and the way he actually speaks in the final portion of the video is so, so creepy. I kind of love this idea of him finding his speech and finding his voice through that static.

At the end of the day, the Intellegent Artificial Mind is not artificial at all. It was naturally taken from the soul of Tobias, as the soul trapped inside the I AM robot.

The name of the i am project comes from a quote. This quote being “i think, therefore i am” a quote used by a another character who is very well known as “AM” in the story: I have no mouth, and i must scream. This little detail is what i like because it makes it more horrifying. Not just what soulcorp did. But what tobias could do

My son is named Tobias. He has a propensity to become unreasonably emotional at odd things when he's tired, embarrassed, or unwell. If imagine this fella probably feels a bit of all three.

It's probably because he misses not being stuck as a robot. Probably the similar kind of bittersweet feel we have when we're deep within sadness but there's happy music playing around. The contrast just makes the whole thing worse.

It's obvious they killed him. The bot speaks in a judgmental tone towards a particular person, implying someone who is on the project team is responsible for their death. The missing poster at the end also preludes to the fact that they were kidnapped and had their brain stuffed inside of the machine. Wow, fantastic! This is some of your best work, very excited for what comes next! The background gradient at 4:51 was weirdly unnerving, well done
this is an absolute gem out of your works and it builds up an interesting short story about SoulCorp
Some things to point out, The robot chooses the name "Tobias" Which at the end, The person's name on the missing person poster is "Tobias", Followed by a last name i cant read, As from what i can tell, "Devenson". And during the Object Recognition, The robot says "I see My Childhood Cat". Which makes me believe the robot contains the soul of Tobias.

This now might be one of my favorite xploshi videos of all time. It’s such an interesting and scary concept and I love the design of Tobias. It’s falls in the uncanny valley from robot to human with that silicon mask. Good work!

I didnt cry to this but i understand why someone may, its really tragic to imagine the suffering poor tobia's soul must be feeling, forced back to life by eletric charges and subjected to tests that probably attack all his senses (must be way he was angry at those funky tunes)

I am incredibly impressed by this video. I hope you go in this more analog horror, surrealist type of stuff over the VHS parodies. Don’t get me wrong I love those, but this is an exciting, limitless genre. U did it before with things like “Thanks For Playing” and if this video is any indication of what it could be like, Jesus I can’t imagine what you’ll be capable of! the segment of Tobias speaking is bone chilling. One of my favorite videos of the year
I theorize Tobias didn't say "I am aware, I am alive, and I will soon be free" because he wanted them to see him as human or sympathize before he escaped in a literal sense, but he knew that he would be destroyed after he took that other guys life with him. He essentially "freed" himself by getting himself killed, and wanted them to know they were killing and experimenting on someone/something with emotions and that was aware of everything before he did that.

That was incredible, the clues to what was going on were sparkled in just the right way for the viewer to slowly piece the story together, and the whole package was amazingly eerie and creepy!

Gotta love how Soulcorp was in such a hurry to get rid of Tobias that they just dumped him in a trash can haphazardly
My theory is that Tobias was once human and soulcorp robotics harvested his soul to turn him into this walking tin can. A few key points to back this up are: how quickly Tobias chose his name and gender.
The fact that he said "are these my only choices?" when selecting a face.
The fact that he answers "my childhood cat" on one of the pictures during the object recognition test.
The missing poster at the end which shows a man named Tobias has gone missing.

Probably my favorite animation you’ve done lately. You capture the VHS feel of the late 80s/early 90s perfectly with the font and the positioning. Especially with the creepy “distribution is strictly prohibited” message.
My only suggestion would be to work on the camera’s movement a bit, particularly during the locomotion test. I feel like the “free moving camera” as if it’s not on a tripod makes it look less real. Excellent work though.
9 months later and I still love this video. Such a chilling way to show how a human would feel trapped inside of a robot body. Really makes me wonder even more about Portal
Interesting thing I noticed from the music test:
So, for the first song, Tobias is afraid. The second song, he’s mostly sad. For the third song, he’s pretty pissed, given the speed of the red dot. For the fourth song, it wavers in the middle a lot, as if he is unsure about what he feels, before it falls into sadness. The fifth song leans more on anger, but it also occasionally swaps over to being afraid. He’s never happy about any of the music.
I don’t think these songs are relevant at all to how he feels, or at least, not entirely. He’s probably going through the stages of panic, sorrow and rage that he feels from having his soul taken from his body. At first, these feelings are more shaky and unfocused; he’s mostly sad and scared at the beginning, and shifts into anger in a really agitated way.
I think, from songs 1-4, Tobias isn’t really thinking clearly and is just kind of in panic mode, flailing about because he doesn’t know what to do. On song 5, though, his change of emotion is much more deliberate. I think on song 5, Tobias made the decision to get his revenge on the company.
From confused terror to focused rage.
I find is really interesting and I loved it but also I was terrified because it just reminded me what would happen if robots got more intelligent thank you so much Xploshi you made me more afraid of robots than I could imagine now
Xploshi is a master at making things that aren't really that scary, yet they live in the uncanny valley...watching you...plotting their revenge...you know what you did.

I think the audio clips for the speech training had a whole lot more meaning. I could just be over analyzing, but something tells me they weren’t random at all.
“The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”
Tobias realizes that Matthew is mentally exhausted from the project at this point and decides to use that mental weariness to torment him.
“In my spare time, I like to build models.”
Matthew doesn’t have any regard for human life or soul, looking at Tobias’s soul as merely a tool for his creation.
“Lyrics sinuous topology. Lyrics sinuous topology.”
Probably should be looked at in reverse. Topology is the idea that a shape can be warped but never broken. Sinuous means to have many curves and turns. Lyrics is probably used more as a metaphor here, explaining how Matthew warped Tobias into his own perfect creation with ideas of intricacies and un-breakability, being the lyrics (make-up) to his song.
“The storm raged on throughout the night.”
Possibly a connection to the weather of the night and Tobias is aware of it, considering the last shot of the video is a rain storm.
“What is your favorite television show?”
_This_ is Matthew’s favorite show.
“The zoo has many exotic animals.”
Probably the way Matthew looks at Tobias and his creation in connection to the last line.
“The audience applauded as the magician escaped the locked box.”
Tobias has escaped his bounds of just being machinery and now communicated directly to Matthew. Though rather than being scared, Matthew is impressed.
“Meet me at the train station at 9:30.”
One of two things (or both, who knows): Where we see Tobias’s parts being dumped off at in the end, or where Matthew kidnapped Tobias.
“There were eight apples in the fruit bowl.”
There were seven possibly others before Tobias.
All my random theory, but regardless, fun video! Can’t wait to see where this goes if there’s more in this series to come!
