I'll bet that 99% of you talking crap about this car never actually took one for a test drive before. I went tot he Chevy dealership, to be honest with low expectations, and was very surprised just how good this Impala is. Looks way better in person inside and out, is built well and drives super quiet and smooth. A big leap from the old version.
the 3.6 is plenty powerful in this car...people complaining that this car sucks probably never drove .one or better yet never seen one up close..I personally own one a champaign metallic silver 2lt..love the car
He's the only person I've heard saying so many bad things about this car when really it's the best car in its class. Definitely better than a Ford or toyota as far as space, comfort, looks, luxury, safety, and kind of everything. Juss sayin.
I checked this out and it's a really nice car. I want one and I am only 20. It's definitely not an old person car anymore. Anyone who says they wont buy it because its american is skipping out on a seriously good car
I test drove the 1LTZ . My only complain as far as the interior goes is the very low roof line. Im only 5'8 and it felt like my head was to close to the roof. A very powerful V6. probably one of the most powerful V6s in its class, but with the power in the front wheels it creates a lot of torque steer during acceleration. A lot of body roll taking corners as well due to the soft suspension. This is where an SS model Impala can come in a fix this, especially if they offered an option of AWD.
I just bought a used 2017 LT. I really like it. Yes it drives ultra smooth and quiet but that is exactly what I want. I have the 2.5L 4cyl. It has 197 HP and it's more than adequate for me. I rarely have to put my foot in it.
My first car is a 2007 Chevy Impala SS, and when it's time to get a new car I will definitely stick with the Impala's. It's sad they have not made any SS version since 2007 I love mine
I'm not usually a domestic fan, but I would go with the Chevy. The Impala starts at under $27k, where the Cadenza starts at $35k. I could get a lot more options on the Chevy for the same money. I also like the way a Chrysler 300S looks, for the same money, plus you can get AWD if you want it.
Zidar25 You need to come up with a better argument than "it could". Yeah, IT COULD happen to Mercedes or BMW, Ford, Citroen, Alfa Romeo, etc. but guess what, it doesn't. You know why? Because they're better than GM. They actually bother to check for problems instead of mass producing 2 ton death traps. Any car manufacturer that doesn't even bother to check if their car is safe for the very people who drive them lacks basic decency and does not deserved to be called "the BEST company out right now".
why do all car navigation tech are so sluggish? I mean dont they bother to optimise its codes or just put a powerful processor in it? its not like power efficiency is your main concern in car navigation?
Looks good. Too busy interior. I'd still pick the 300 out of the compared lot shown. Unless someone's grandson or a police officer is driving one, I bet I don't see many owners utilizing that 0-60 time of 6.8 seconds.
If they just made it RWD and offered a casual V8 option like a 5.7l or something im sure it would have sold more units to infiniti/bmw/dodge customers looking for a rwd sedan type car.
I lived in Germany during my time in the Military. drove the benz's the audi's and bmw's.. great in features and performance, but people mistake German makes for reliable cars. They are some of the most unreliable cars and cost a fortune to fix and is why BMW, Audi, and Benz should never be bought used with more than 50k miles on it. the Infiniti M37/56S has all the bells and whistles as its German counterparts for a much better price, and is also a more reliable vehicle.
This car is really nice. Sat in one at a car show, HOWEVER, too much of the old Impala bleeding through. Keep the rear camera and the MyLink that is slow (and will no doubt be frustrating), in addition this is not a Driver's Car. For $32K, no thanks GM. Close but no cigar.
I wonder why? It would be a money maker 6.2 rear wheel drive , to compete with the Hellacat Challenger , the Ford Taurus SHO, also Dodge Charger" I work for GM would hate to switch Brands"
I guess GM just wants to stick with the family friendly FWD full size. I agree they do have the new SS sedan which is full size and is RWD and competes head on with the charger and taurus SHO but the taurus offers AWD. However I would love to see the impala SS come back if someone can convince the heads of GM to bring the impala ss back that would be awesome. I also just bought my first chevy a 2011 malibu i love it! can't complain a single thing about it despite GM being in shit load of trouble with their recalls as of late hopefully they can get that straighten out
I can tell you why...because the SS never sold that well ! It's was a rushed car they made and did horrible on sales. You want the bigger engine? Buy a camaro...
I agree! Regrettably, I purchased a 2012 Chevy Sonic about one year ago. Unreliable. Poor build quality. The dealerships/GM Customer Service have lived up to their reputation and won't stand behind the warranty. No more GM products for me!
Interesting doing a little "memory lane" with these comments. GM doesn't even make the damn thing anymore because it didn't sell. When is GM pull its head outta it's rear end and fire the designers who year after year create the worst selling crap? Hire some fresh, forward-mimded artists to design some beautiful machines?

Amen. Welcome back! Not a car guy, but I watch all your videos, your a great communicator/teacher. I love learning more about cars.
Yes, Brian is back! So happy!
This car looks sharp and 10 times better in person
I just bought a used 2017 LT. I really like it. Yes it drives ultra smooth and quiet but that is exactly what I want.
I have the 2.5L 4cyl. It has 197 HP and it's more than adequate for me. I rarely have to put my foot in it.
I have a 2018 LT v6 i love it man! I also have a 2018 camaro, but i prefer driving my Impala LOL!
Brian, welcome back!!!!!
Brian Cooley is an awesome critic...entertaining while informing! CNET dont let this guy go!
Awesome car. Actually, if you're driving with cruise control on and the forward collision warning activates, it will disengage the cruise control.
My first car is a 2007 Chevy Impala SS, and when it's time to get a new car I will definitely stick with the Impala's. It's sad they have not made any SS version since 2007 I love mine
Just because you hate the chrome doesn't mean everyone else hates it.
You had me laughing when it took you to the Pacific ocean in navigation
I'm not usually a domestic fan, but I would go with the Chevy. The Impala starts at under $27k, where the Cadenza starts at $35k. I could get a lot more options on the Chevy for the same money. I also like the way a Chrysler 300S looks, for the same money, plus you can get AWD if you want it.
which would you buy when comparing it to the Kia Cadenza. How is the audio compared and smooth of the driving compared to the Kia Cadenza
BRIAN IS BACK. #lifecomplete
lol. The navigation system took him to the ocean
They should project this car as much as they can to impala 67'
A similar sized Infiniti or Mercedes would be pushing $60K.
Brian and his Rolex. The man!
saw 1 of these parked yesterday, nice car!
good place for a secret stash ;)
I love the commercial John legend did for this car,John legend - made for love
I love the new impala....
much improved. fits the segment i think
Way better than foreigns and GM is the BEST company out right now
Tell that to all those who crashed because of those messed up ignition switches.
Zidar25 You need to come up with a better argument than "it could".

I like this new Impala I wish it came with RWD at least
This the one
why do all car navigation tech are so sluggish? I mean dont they bother to optimise its codes or just put a powerful processor in it? its not like power efficiency is your main concern in car navigation?
You can't get this as a rental, the 2014 impalas that will be rentals will still be the old form factor.
This car look so sharp looking in
damn! How much does a base corolla cost over there?
Looks like its going to keep its title as a rental car
Ugh that navigation unit kills it
will there be an all new Caprice some time soon? (always better looking than the Impala)
My next car
why did they re upload this?
FUCK YEAH , COOLEY IS BACK
Wonder why the zero to sixty was so low? This car has hit 5.4 seconds
Land departure...blindside...can someone help me out and tell what cars do correct those is something isn't going right?
Like previous commenters have stated, it's a good looking car except for that steering wheel.
Looks good. Too busy interior. I'd still pick the 300 out of the compared lot shown. Unless someone's grandson or a police officer is driving one, I bet I don't see many owners utilizing that 0-60 time of 6.8 seconds.
Rental companies will have a limited amount of this body style. Just drove one.
Woohoo. Coolie is back!
If they just made it RWD and offered a casual V8 option like a 5.7l or something im sure it would have sold more units to infiniti/bmw/dodge customers looking for a rwd sedan type car.
Looks good but the rear end is little bit odd. Kinda remind me of Older Kia Optima
Brian Cooley Is BACK?
*Dies
See many (any) old ones on the road? Not here in the urban/suburban East where I live. Enough said.
The front of the Impala looks very similar to the KIA Optima.
Passat is not bigger. It is not better. It is cheaper but you also get less. I know I been looking at the same two cars.
1:25 Best place to hide anything you don't want people or cops to find! ;)
Exterior lines look much like the audi A4 and the front grill is an obvious Camaro one.
Great car

very nice
Anything positive you have to say about this car? You seem so negitive.
Looks great on the outside. The opposite is true on the inside...

the 96 a rental car? how dare you!
welcome back Cooley
Usa미국 시보레트 58년생 임팔라 굿 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💖💖💖💖💖💖💖👍
I bet you never actually sat in one or took it for a test drive.
wish they would put an ss trim
There is one, its called the Chevy SS, it has a v8 and RWD.
+TheCobruhAlienat0r but it's not an impala
nice
That's an iPod Touch 5th gen.
I think it's a nice car ! waiting on the SS version tho "
I hate to break it to you but they haven't made an impala SS since 07 while a new SS trim would be awesome I highly doubt they will bring it back
I wonder why? It would be a money maker 6.2 rear wheel drive , to compete with the Hellacat Challenger , the Ford Taurus SHO, also Dodge Charger" I work for GM would hate to switch Brands"

it kinda does remind me of an Audi when looking at the front :D
do people really use car navigation
The front of this car is definitely good looking, like a transformer. The rear is just bland and ugly. Wish Chevy made it look a bit more aggressive.
John legend - made to love*
no he didn't he uses a droid 4
COOLY! PLEASE DO THE NEW INFINITI Q50!
You sound just like Jay Leno!
Theres always google maps on your phone
wheres the range rover?
he uses an Android device can't you tell by the Droid 4 connected to bluetooth Kevin said himself he doesn't really like iPhones
Nice car... but why it laggs like hell on navigation.. shame on you chevrolet...
that is a stretch man
Cooley Back!
So my take is GM attempted to copy the Taurus and failed in all areas except the exterior this car reminds me of my 13 Taurus
montanatru lol this car is nothing like those failed tranny cars. Ford is a peice of shit
DID HE SAY 21MPG =( thats worse than 2008 model. My 2008 is well kept and gets about 24miles per gallon and thats with 22s on it. SMH on 21mpg
i'll stick with my 2004 Impala
In Brazil this car : R$ 160.000,00 = $ 90.000,00. FUCK i hate Brazil.
you guys are probably expecting me to say "first" nope...
...that is a HIDEOUS LOOKING STEERING WHEEL...
so ummm yea, let's talk about BMW and the recall......holding back numbers????

Impala came a long way. But i will never buy american
Nice rental car :-)
Audi A6 copy :P
Great car, you guys always talkin s''t...
4 cyclinder is not good in this car,ill stick with the v6
I agree! Regrettably, I purchased a 2012 Chevy Sonic about one year ago. Unreliable. Poor build quality. The dealerships/GM Customer Service have lived up to their reputation and won't stand behind the warranty. No more GM products for me!
You bought an ugly little econobox for under 20 grand and you're surprised it didn't hold up? Lol. You got what you paid for, dipshit.
