I don't know how my three kids turned out so great. I am a Grandma now and your videos save me so often. From flat heads to speech issues, your videos help so much. Thank you.
My daughter (15 months old) started banging her head out of frustation, she does soft enough to not hurt herself but sometimes forget and then she cries.
Irritating clothes: try turning the t-shirts inside out, seams are outside not against their skin. I wear it this way myself. Don't comprehend why seams are always up against skin when they are so uncomfortable.
My 2 year old just started the head banging when hes really upset or wants attention (in a tantrum). I remember doing the same to my parents when i was 4 and had to go to time out, i thought if i hurt myself they would take me out LOL it never worked they just ignored it 😅 but certainly for a 2 year old I can see lack of vocabulary being a huge frustration
@Emmahubbard please my baby is 10months old buh she still can’t sit properly on her own but she can stay as long as 1hr on tummy time moving all round d bed 😢 it makes me feel so down and sad
My 15 month old started headbanging lately which seems for no reason. He starts to be frustrated like everythong gets on his nerves and if I search for a way to redirect/help he bangs his head even more. So far only ignoring or taking him outside helped (though he protested against getting ready to get outside). It really stresses me out
Just something to keep in mind; There is a difference between sensory processing disorder and sensory processing sensitivity. I have the latter, and I absolutely hated buttons, zippers, and care tags on my clothing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensory_processing_sensitivity?wprov=sfti1#
My son who is 20 months old chews his shirt and just the left sleeve shirt. Not sure if hes still teething but he's been doing this since 18 months. Hope this is just a phase. His OT isn't really concerned. Thank you for this video! I feel good knowing some of these are normal behavior. 😅
Hi! Unfortunately, there are many reasons why little ones might seem to eat all the time. For example it could be due to boredom, the types of food they are eating, or because they are snacking throughout the day, which might take the edge off their hunger without filling them up. It's actually quite common for toddlers to eat about 5 meals a day, often every 2 1/2 hours. If you're concerned about how often he is eating, is this something you can raise with his parents or a doctor?
Hi Emma, thank you for the informative video. My 25 months old recently started refusing to wear short sleeves. He is absolutely fine with long sleeves but starts screaming immediately when we put a T-shirt on and squeezes his arms as if there is something wrong with them. Nothing wrong with his arms, no pain no bruises and he can climb, play and use his arms fine when he has long sleeves on. He was absolutely fine with short sleeves when we were on holiday 3 weeks ago but recently having this issue. Is this something to worry about? Many thanks!
I have Asperger’s or ASD1 and have major issues with clothes. My baby doesn’t wear anything I wouldn’t wear to try and lessen the upset for her. She clearly hates clothes and shoes.
Mouthing for a few days for teething 😂 that's a good one. My poor kid seems to be in pain on and off for weeks before the tooth erupts. We think his first set of molars are coming in, woohoo.
I was 20 before I could tolerate wearing denim. SPD wasn’t a known thing when I was a child so no one knew it was more than just me being “picky.” Luckily my mother didn’t press me and let me wear non-jeans, even if it meant clothes shopping was a trial (pay attention next time to how many non-denim trousers are available- it’s not many!)
My son will be 1 year on Sunday, he has his 2 front bottom and top teeth. He can use both of his hands (right hand dominant) reaches and grabs anything and everything, but is also still "mouthing" everything, I assumed it was more teething because he chews on all of his different teethers, should I he concerned? He drools a lot too. I would like to note, he has been practicing talking and knows how to say Mama.❤
My daughter had sensory processing problems and expressive language delays. Sounds similar. I would contact your school district for a free developmental screening. If any intervention is needed, the sooner addressed, the quicker it helps. Left alone unhelpful habits become stronger. You can also ask pediatrician, but I think people should know that school districts have programs to help for free. Don’t worry, knowledge is power, if your child needs support, it’s good to know.
But it is still age appropriate, mine is 13 months old. She also mouths, especially new things and everything outside of home. Early to be concerned yet. It shall just slowly decrease. Emma mentioned 18 months as a time to talk to the specialist.
Hi! What about eye rolling? My 16 month old started doing this a month or so ago. He rolls his eyes when being sassy lol BUT i have noticed it randomly to the far sides of his eyes. It doesnt last more than a second. Is this normal behavior?
Hi, my baby is going to be one on June 27th, and I noticed that he is opening and closing his hand(like the milk sign language) when he is crying. I know he is not hungry, it's every time he cries
I like your videos, but why would no 4 be embarassing, or push them to explore privates in the bedroom? kids are not adults, and they should not be treated like this. Such reactions can only lead to shame and future issues. The only thing I encourage them is to wash their hands after she touches their privates
I agree! Plus it makes kids think they can’t talk about it and that’s dangerous because r*pe and m*lestation will be more shameful and they won’t tell parents. I always tell my son that it’s okay in the bath/shower and to wash hands because of germs
It's great that you're comfortable with it! And you have worked out an approach that suits your family. For some parents though, it can be a shock and embarrassing, particularly if the child does it while people are visiting the house or on play dates. The intention is not to treat children like adults but to provide a healthy and open environment where they can learn about their bodies without shame. Encouraging children to explore their bodies in a private, safe space helps them understand boundaries and privacy, which are important for their development. Addressing this curiosity in a calm and non-judgmental way can help prevent feelings of shame or embarrassment. It's about striking a balance between acknowledging their curiosity and teaching them appropriate boundaries.
Unfortunately, it's very common for toddlers to protest when brushing their teeth. Just last night, I had an epic battle with my 18-month-old during teeth brushing time! There are many reasons your little one might not like brushing their teeth. For example: - It's boring compared to other, more fun activities. - The sensation of brushing might be irritating. - They might dislike the taste of the toothpaste (if you're using any). The key is to figure out what part of brushing is challenging for your child and then make adjustments to make it easier. For example, try different toothpastes, brush for just a few seconds at first and gradually increase the time, or make the experience more fun by singing a song or using a special toothbrush. However, if you feel like your toddler's protests around brushing their teeth are more typical, an occupational therapist can help. We can work with you to develop strategies to make brushing easier and more manageable for your little one.
My 2 year old has gotten a huge independent streak recently and refuses to let us do things for him, including brush his teeth he just wants to do it himself- which is just him chewing off the toothpaste, he doesn't really understand how to brush his teeth that great yet lol. I just let this battle go and let him do it his way at the moment, thankfully they'll get adult teeth to replace them eventually 😅🤣
Hi, My baby is 9 month now and from the first fay he hated being dressed and each time Im changing his clothes he cries:( Could it be a sensory issue? Thanks :)
Some kids can continue to put things in their mouth because they are seeking the oral input - it is often alerting and can help them focus. It's definitely not a problem for some, but for others they chew on items so much that they tear holes in their clothes and toys. For these kids we just give them other ways to get the oral input they need. But this definitely isn't the case for all children.
"I know what you're thinking, that's ridiculous. Clothes aren't irritating." Me, who is autistic: o_o And I still don't understand why most clothes still have tags in them 😐 and why are the tags made of wool infused with sandpaper??

Thank you.
No worries!
I don't know how my three kids turned out so great. I am a Grandma now and your videos save me so often. From flat heads to speech issues, your videos help so much. Thank you.
It's my pleasure! ❤️
That's awesome, most grandmas act like their parenting styles were above reproach and they have nothing to learn
I'm in the trenches with flat head at the moment
I did most of my head banging in my teenage years, mostly metallica and pantera
Probably still stressed your parents though 😂
Thanks my son has been different as he has been challenge by having to do new things everyday as well as learning at the same time

Omg I still wear my socks inside out! The seam sometimes runs against my toes and causes sores. I can’t understand why clothes aren’t softer
This is a great solution!
There are also seamless/seam free socks and clothes now which are also a great option for those that find seams irritating.
Thank you ❤ so much your video's saved me with most of the question marks inside my head as a first time mom
You are so welcome!

Congratulations! I hope everything goes smoothly!
Hi Emma, are you able to do a video on toddler speech, speech delays and when to see a speech therapist and how to make improvements at home.
Check out the Speech Sisters
Hi! For at home (depending on the age) we found Speech Blubs and Articulation Station very useful. We attended speech therapy once a week as well.

No problem!
My toddler got the food fuzz at 3! 😂 Sweetcorn loose on a plate? Absolutely not. Corn on the cob? Sure, I'll eat 3! 😂
I can 100% relate to this! 😂
Really helpful info! Thanks!
Hey, I still bang my head on my desk at times, lol!
😂
I need this, thank you
You’re welcome 😊. I'm so glad it was helpful!

Tolerance requires boundaries-I’m not going to instruct my toddler to go touch themselves in their room!
Agree!

My 31-month-old toddler recently started scratching whatever is on hand whenever she feels nervous. Is that normal?

"Other irregular behaviors," like what? I wish there were a few examples.

Could be for comfort, which would make sense if he's doing it when crying. Milk, especially breastfeeding is about so much more than just food x

I slammed my head on the floor and walls. I remember my parents saying he will stop, it’s gonna hurt. Then it hurt and I stopped.
😂 Thanks for sharing!
@@EmmaHubbard I was a toddler.. and it was aggressively slamming my head. 🤣 i believe I wanted attention.
Mam , my baby turned 1 year, he has very anger and frustration.he need all the tings if I didn't give to him he makes anger and cry.its normal
