- Throughout all of my Mega Man shenanigans on this channel, I've been asked for years to do a handcam during gameplay. I haven't been ignoring those requests. I just never had a proper setup to make that possible until 2023, and I mostly forgot about it until recently. Since I'll be doing a tutorial on how to perform/master Neon Jumps in X2 and X3 pretty soon, I'm here today to test out how this setup will look on RUclips, so that I can prep for the tutorial.

Most of it is not thinking at all and just dashing asap tbh.
The secret(for me at least ) is failing runs so many times your soul leaves your body by the time succeed.
That just sounds like explaining Trial and Error but with extra steps.

I've played X3 at least a couple of times, and yet I never knew about this tech with the purple buster shot and going up with the legs part to gain a bit more of height and reach the heart tank + body part capsule. Keep rockin!
They're called Neon Jumps. I'm currently working on a tutorial video about them.
Next thing we know we’ll see Magnus doing Zero perfect runs with a GBA cam
iirc he DOES have a GameBoyPlayer so he could hook up a real GBA as a controller if he has the Link cable

awesome work man. the hand cam is a great touch.
Key is to time it so they're pointing straight down or ideally towards you. If they're pointing away from you, you're effectively inside the danger zone longer - your head will trigger them and your feet will still be inside their range when they fire.
Just dash, dude.

Very nicely done! Me and a friend have been streaming this game to each other a lot lately, as we get a kick out of making new rules out of how we should play this game.
The most experience with segmented Megaman runs would be my current playthrough of Zero 3 where I’m trying to get A rank on all levels. I definitely enjoy seeing Megaman X segmented runs though, as usually I’ll play stupid and just pop an E-Tank to move on. It’s fun to see this in the X series, especially when you’re going for completionist on the level.

What an amazing speed run! I could never do those neon jumps. Also forgot that blizzard Buffalo’s weapon was good for farming health when fully charged. I only used it to reach the ride armor part in toxic seahorse’s stage lol

Man, that is great on how you can do the neon jumps so consistently. I'm okay at doing them, but trying to do it consistently is my biggest weakness. I need more practice.
Wow, these Neon Jumps were perfect. Pls do more of these segmented runs. Especially i liked seeing Ray Splasher I never used it out of the fight against gravity Beetle. Hope to see more of it with your Hands on screen.

Never realized you could get the armor piece without needing charged gravity well. That could make routing this game more interesting. Though that requires me learning the tech, and that could take awhile.
I didn't even know you could spam frost shield and that's my favorite weapon from this game

I recently got myself a controller and came across your channel while searching for guides and handcam gameplays. It's insane to me how people can play this well on a controller since all my 2D platformer experience is with a keyboard. It seems weird to not be able to use 3 fingers at the same time (for dash, jump and shooting) and only counting on your thumb.
DO YOU have any advice to give or guides to provide to someone like me who wants to get into using a controller for these types of games?

Currently starting to get into Mega Man games. I havent played X3 yet, but having played a bit of both X1 and X2, and *a lot* of X4 (don't ask why I played it before this one, I'm not sure myself) my main question is: HOW DID YOU DO THAT
No way, I also use L to Dash instead A xD and when I used to play on pc (emulator of course) I crossed my hands, left hand on arrow keys and right hand on "A, Z, X, C , S, D, W, E" Keys
what brand of controller is that ? are they good ? i kinda need replacement controllers for my snes, but official ones are too expensive for me
Old Skool is the brand. They make several replicas of retro controllers. Their SNES and Genesis controllers are top quality.

Do you have the boot upgrade chip on or do neon jumps reset your air dash?
I don't know the details, but at least in X2 the Neon Jump is used to jump midair, so maybe it reset your jumps and dash.
But is a very precise technique
Neon jumps reset your air dash, cause it acts as a mid-air jump
