Hi guys. I am Russian and under this video I want to tell you about the only black man in the history of Russia. In the 16th century, Tsar Peter the Great ruled Russia. He was on a visit to Holland, I think. There he was presented with a black slave boy. Peter took him to Russia, gave him freedom, raised him and made him his General. His name is Abram Ganibbal. Our greatest writer, Alexander Pushkin, became his descendant. And this is the story of the only black slave in Russia. My daughter's English teacher is a black guy from Uganda

      not at all
Abram was kind of african prince who got slavered by ottomans. russian noble in Konstantinople (current Stambul) bougth his out and gifted to Peter the Great.
Peter found out that Abram is very smart and loyal and converted him to Orthodoxy. Since then he gave him freedom and recruited as personal servant for several years.
Then Abram traveled to France and got there cool education in engineering and military.
After that he returned to Russia and became a teacher, an adviser and an explorer.
After Peters tragic death his daughter Elizabeth gifted Abram to nobleship for his countryservice and also promoted to military chief engineering.

@robstewich Yes, I admit that I may be wrong about some of the nuances of this story, since I have not returned to this issue since childhood :) but the main thing in this story remains unchanged: the Russians have never enslaved peoples. Even when some lands were part of Russia, a new people came along with the land and brought their culture, so now Russia is a multinational multicultural country where hundreds of peoples live nearby. The main thing is mutual respect. Peace and kindness to all from Russia ❤️

Gannibal was brought to Russia as a child by French slave traders as a gift to the Tsar. The Tsar adopted him as his own son, and trained him to be a man of the Russian nobility. He became a governor and a general in time. Well, the rest of the Europeans were making cases for how Africans are not really humans they were Africans and blacks among the Russian imperial court, making important decisions in serious leadership roles. This was one difference from Western Europe, that Peter deliberately kept.

It's true cause we, Radio Africa, a collective of 12 journalists based in Europe and originally from Africa, were visiting Russia in 1999, 27 July to 30 August for a reportage on african students at Lumunba University in Moscow. Then we visited St Petresburg, Puskin and Kaljazin.

I agree 40/100. In Russia, drug addicts are rarely seen on the street, in comparison with the states. If you see a drug addict in Russia, then you need to call the police. A person will be jailed for drug use. Also, there are no idiots on the street, as in the states, who provoke a person into a fight in order to get money. In Russia, you have to really fight for your behavior. But yes, there are psychopaths in every country. It's just that in Russia there are much fewer of them.

In fact, without fail, every Russia Person I've had the pleasure of either working with in the military or befriending as a civilian, viewed racism as a ridiculous concept. While in the Marine Corps, I've met a few who were not too fond of America, but that had nothing to do with ethnicity. They just loved their country, and I can respect that because I love mine. That said, I agree that the women are absolutely gorgeous.

Good to hear. I am mixed race and have always wanted to go to Russia. My aunt(white) had several Russian husbands and has been there over 50 times including back in the days of USSR.
I have heard of some racist harassment of central Asians and other non white people from ultra right wing thug types but thought it was more of an outlier hopefully. There were a few incidents of people harassing people from Africa as “monkeys “ etc…. There are obviously always ignorant people everywhere and it’s not like much worse isn’t uncommon in America sadly. Even in the days of the USSR while things weren’t perfect by any means many African Americans felt there wasn’t such an atmosphere of racism and hostility as in America, especially back then., It’s getting better to some degree particularly in terms of being mixed race or for interracial couples. When I was born while it was acceptable to some degree in being legal at least it was a lot more frowned upon and people would give a lot of nasty looks or say stuff behind closed doors.
Unfortunately when it comes to “interracial” dating or marriage there can sometimes be an aspect of being seen as more of a novelty or something else than like just a person like anyone else even when people don’t necessarily mean it in a negative way

I agree with your point on interracial relationships. The novelty aspect is there for a people, but others, genuine connections are there because we are all people in the end. Honestly, I think other countries views on interracial relationships would be a better determination of non novelty because America on it's own is still very trapped in stereotypes.

To understand the situation with Central Asians you have to uderstand that Central Asians are pretty damn nasty, due to conditions they lived in since 90-s (crime culture, poverty, radical nationalism and culture of power), many of them don't respect natives and they still live in their gopnik culture, so it's totally normal for them to rob you, beat you or rape you. And I'm completely skipping the part, where in some countries the abolishment of USSR lead to civil wars and genocide of Russians who lived there (e.g. Tajikistan). That's why many say you have to be respectful to people, who live in the country. Also, ultra right wing basically doesn't exist anymore, half of them fleed the Russia after Ukrainian revolution in 2014 and now is sitting in trenches on Ukrainian side, while other half, who avoided prison, sits in trenches on the Russian side. However, there never was a lot of them and it was mostly in local capital cities like Moscow, St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don.
If you ever get beaten up in Russia, trust me, it's not because of your skin color :)

    Black American here 👋
We have our problems like any other country.
Big misconception the majority of our police are friendly and very helpful. No propaganda here either.
The media mostly emphasizes the bad.
    So much good all around.
    Lastly,
    I would encourage all as
we are living in perilous times worldwide
And Today is the day of salvation & tomorrow is not promised. John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

As a Black American I have been stayed in Russia in 2019 & November 21-April 2022 in the Far East region (Amur region) of Russia and I felt so safe in Russia than I have growing up in the South East of Georgia and Florida. I can’t wait to get back to Russia and need to renew my visa because it has expired in May 2022. I’m trying to educate more blacks that live in America that are my friends both younger and older to stop being so judgmental about things that they have no understanding about and to be more open minded to the idea.

Man, one of the reasons MANY Europeans like Russia is the lack of Africans and ethnic homogeneity, I’m not annoyed by one or two Africans around but things ALWAYS get wild once you reach a critical mass. I’m from Switzerland and the recent influx of Africans is causing a lot of issues, they refuse to learn the language, one of them got crazy when his refuge status was denied, he stole a car and drove on the sidewalk, risking to get someone killed, the police had to shoot to stop him, I mean this kind of events was unknown to us before these gentlemen moved into our lands, it happened in the city of Chiasso, you can find the news online, they just loiter and litter while living off the welfare check I provide for paying taxes.
If you really love Russia, don’t compel other Africans to move to Russia, just enjoy what life gave you and that’s it.

you do know russia has like 200 ethnic groups living in the country all together and the only group that is causing problems is the corrupt government right?

@@-crosby I lived in Russia for 5 years and visited and on and off for 10, Russia is a federation and the most numerous ethnicities have their own republics and they know which red lines not to cross.. it’s clear to anyone white European-looking Russians are the dominant group. By the way. In these 9 days since I left my first comment, a group of Africans decided to enrich us culturally by shooting at each other in the city center of Jesolo in northern Italy, it’s a maritime destination mainly chosen by families, it’s a miracle no bystander was hit…and there was another incident involving an African man molesting an Italian woman, a man died..

500-700 bucks for rent 300-700 bucks for stuff (depends on your needs and habbits)
and go get a girl for relations
and you will be get pretty not bad living conditions
also much better if you could buy an appartment at least 1LDK type
also i probably will not recommend live in moscow.
as for me moscow is good city for yougn men but not for grown.
choose to live in cities like Krasnodar/Rostov/Volgograd/Yekaterinburg or any city with 0,8-1,5 mln citizens
Yaroslavl for example. god be praise! this is a real paradise in summer!
and you will be still live near moscow around 4-5 hours on speed train

    • @Orlington17
      @Orlington17 Год назад

overlooked by you ) Russia is famous for being home for black people for hundreds years. Hannibal Abram (1696) was bought from Turkish sultan for Petr I who made him free. Since 1756 he became the chief military engineer of the Russian army, in 1759 he received the rank of general-in-chief, grandfather of Aleksandr Pushkin who is considered a national treasure. Or not as significant curiosities as Jean Gregoire Sagbo, municipal politician of the Tver region, the first black deputy in Russia of a tiny town. At a time when Americans could not decide for slaves to be or not to be other Africans were in the process of being educated in Russia.
