I wouldn't say what Russia has is exactly "classical" racism... it's a bit different. What you experience in the west is a superiority complex type of racism. You're looked down upon and considered a sub human by the majority ethnic group. In Russia everybody receives the same treatment, nobody is segregated or discriminated against... Russian babushkas will call blacks "sons" when addressing them. You can even look down in the comments and see some Russian dude calling the old black man "batya". Which is basically the same as saying "pops". You get that NOWHERE in Europe or the US.
Russia reminds me a lot of that Arab type of hospitality but with white people. If you speak their language they just feed you and invite you everywhere. Racism in Russia mostly stems from bad experiences they have of immigrants, and not from a superiority complex. That's why you hear so much "treat them well, and you’ll be treated well" in this video.
It's honestly so basic and so logical... just respect the locals, and they will treat you as an equal. Don't do stupid shit like drugs, and don't make a fool of yourself.

      @Disorder2312 Год назад

Yes, Russians simply never felt the superiority complex. That thing only exists in the west for some reason, and they pretend to be the ones fighting against racism...

Agreed, most Russians who are Christian, and culturally traditional, will be curious about different looks and culture, but will treat people as equals with respect.

This is the best comment about types of racism. As a Russian, I confirm. But there’s my two cents: there are people who have never seen a foreigner in their lives, hence they may be rude at first, but if they continue dealing with foreigners, they will adapt and broaden their minds. That’s why I want as many foreigners here as possible. Experiencing cultures, you become wiser.

    Great video.
As a Brazilian who went to Russia watch the World Cup in 2018, I already knew that many things people say about Russians were untrue, specially in western movies and media.
I guarantee every single one of the 100.000 brazilians who went to Russia in 2018 came back home in love with the Russian people. The welcoming we got was unbelievable. I lost the count of how many people in the streets asked me to take pictures with me wearing my Yellow Jersey like I was a celebrity. I also lost the count of the number of people stopping me and my friends to talk about our team, country, soap operas, music, everything. And literally everyone was ready to help when we asked something.
Every time when we gathered, the welcoming nature of the Russian people was a topic. It surprised us ALL.
I know it was a special event, the World Cup was basically a huge party and certainly it's not how the country normally works and how people normally interact, but even those who weren't directly involved in the event made us feel we were special guests.
I've been to other international events before following our team and I've never seen anything remotely similar!
    Truly heartwarming stuff.

Еще хочу на такой нюанс обратить внимание - часто, к вам относятся с повышенным интересом не из-за расизма, а из-за любопытства. Все-таки у нас в стране не так много людей с темной кожей.

Once I went in Moscow metro and there was a trouble with a train. Many people came in every wagon and doors were still open, the train didn't move. People near the doors a little bit pushed each other accidently. One black guy was there and he claimed a white guy was pushing him. The black wasn't good in Russian, but he was understandable. He unfortunately couldn't swear or somehow defined himselve more effectively. However, another Russian or anyway Russian speaker guy put that first white guy who offended the Black guy and said him that he was not right. After that he took him outside the train and slamed to his face. Then the train went away and this two men stayed on the staytion, one Russian "teached" another "how to be respectful to people"... I went in that train closed to them, so I've got the evidance) Hope the story is understandable 😂 The sence of it is if you're right you would likely be supported. No matter of the skin colour.

I'm a Croatian a Slavic person. We all Slavic people always were connected to Russians, since we basically share the same ancestors. We're one ethnicity of people. And also many Germans very much loved Russia. But since Putler lost his mind - we are against HIM and his mafia government. That has nothing to do with the Russian culture, their literature, language or the intellectual people who live there. Putler certainly does NOT represent Russia, he is a little man with huge mental problems, that's all.

@@EnteleiEchein I sincerely do not understand why you write this pro-American crap to us Russians. If you have seen enough Western news and think that the Russians also think so and will support you in your insults towards our president, then you are greatly mistaken. This is our president. Not yours. Maybe in the time of the Empire we made some plans for "Slavic unity", only with time we realized that it was useless. Those who have chosen to bow to any Western master cannot be weaned from this, because. it is already becoming a conditioned reflex. Our writer more than 100 years ago, back in the days of the Russian Empire, quite correctly expressed his idea about the Slavs and Russia. Even now, nothing has changed. Only a few Slavs remained Slavs - disobedience to the West and rejection of any non-Slavic influence, following traditions and preserving culture, the eternal struggle for their foundations, for their values. And most preferred to become typical Europeans, betraying their ROD. And now, bowing and accepting the rules of the game of the West (the foreigners), they are poking their fingers at Russia, calling us "persecutors of civilization", making stupid nicknames for our chosen statesmen. So, no, we are connected only with some Slavs, such as Belarusians and Serbs. Maybe even with those Slavs who reject Western games and who still have the spirit of fighting for themselves and their families. But as we can see, majority just got on their knees, and on their knees shouting about some kind of Slavic unity, smiling at the foreign soldiers who are on their territory. No thanks, we're out of this game. We will not even enter this field of play. We have already had centuries-old experience of dealing with the West, we prefer not to beat our foreheads against a rake from century to century. At the moment, we are close with those who have retained their identity, reason and pride. And much to my regret for me, who loves the idea of Slavism, in this list there are people from only 2 Slavic countries.
Your comment makes no sense and is devoid of logic when you say that your love is directed to the Russian people and our culture, but at the same time you insult our president and write that he "does not represent Russia." Maybe in Croatia it's normal that the president is separated from the people and does not represent the country, I don't know, I'm not interested in Croatia. But just looking at how long Putin has been president is enough to understand the attitude of the Russian people towards him. We choose it and we will choose it, we, the majority of Russians. He represents our country and acts on our behalf. There are liberals, of course, who vehemently shout about "European civilization" and create maps with the division of Russia into pieces, openly saying that their goal is the destruction of Russia. If your appeal is directed to them, then write so. Only these liberals in our country are considered people "without clan, without tribe." It is not enough to be Russian by blood. Blood doesn't always decide who you are. Russian is not only a place of birth, not only a language, it is not only blood. This is the Russian heart and Russian soul. We have people of different nationalities who are more Russian than those to whom your message seems to be directed. We may disagree on some issues with our government, but in general on the most important issues we are in agreement.
What makes you think he's lost his mind? Maybe you've lost your mind?
It has nothing to do with Putin. They (Western) always have problems with us. Only earlier these were problems for individual countries, when they still had sovereignty and independence, when they themselves could choose what to do and how to do it. Now these are problems prescribed by one country. If this country says they don't like something, then the whole of Europe doesn't like it either. If they harm Europe and the economies of European countries, Europe will simply shut up its mouth and remain silent, ignoring the cries of its people.
What you write about is pure hypocrisy. We don't match the picture you created in your head. You don't know us. If we talk about the Russian people as a whole, then most of us consider the relations that our government is building with a number of countries. We don't care how the entire "European garden" looks at these countries, because we know how false the judgments of this "garden" are and what these judgments are based on. We have been hearing these judgments about us for many years. Or rather, many centuries. They always don't like it when everything is fine with us, when we are fine. They like it when we are hungry and beaten dogs, dying from their democracy. Aimless, empty and helpless. We remember.
Sorry, we haven't grown to the "European garden" yet, so just leave us alone in our "jungle" and don't try to remake us from Russians into typical Europeans (it's useless), just let us remain grim northern bears, "evil Russians, rejecting the great Western democracy." Because this is us.

“So, this is what it meant to grind from a Russian into a real European, to become a real son of civilization - a wonderful fact gained over two hundred years of experience. The conclusion is that a Russian who has become a real European cannot but become at the same time a natural enemy of Russia. "
"Don't tell me I don't know the people (Russian)! I know them: from them I received again into my soul Christ, whom I recognized in my parental home as a child and whom I almost lost when I was transformed in my turn into a “European liberal”."
"The most complete revolution in the political life of Russia will come exactly when Europe is convinced that Russia does not want to seize anything at all. Then a new era will come for us and for all of Europe. and will change the whole face of Europe. This conviction will certainly finally reign, but not as a result of our assurances: Europe will not believe any of our assurances to the very end and everything will look at us with hostility. We are notably disliked by Europe and never loved; Europe never considered us for her own, for Europeans, but always only for annoying aliens. That is why she is very fond of comforting herself sometimes with the thought that Russia is allegedly “so far powerless".”
"Again a clash with Europe (oh, not a war yet: before the war, we, that is, Russia, they say, are still far away), again the endless Eastern Question is on the stage, again the Russians are looked at in disbelief in Europe ... But, however, why should we chase credulity Europe? Did Europe ever look at the Russians trustingly, can it ever look at us trustingly and not with hostility?"

      Our Rus' has no friends!
      ...
It is still in fashion among us to attribute everything to the ignorance of Europe, to its ignorance about Russia. Our press is silent, or at least until recently it was silent, and our enemies are slandering us. Where can poor Europe learn the truth? She is confused, bewildered. Bisum teneatis, amici, or, in Russian, "for chickens to laugh at", my friends. Why, then, does Europe, which knows everything from the Sanskrit language to the Iroquois dialects, from the laws of motion of complex systems of stars to the structure of microscopic organisms, not know only Russia? Is this some kind of Geis-Greutz, Schleitz and Lobenstein, not worthy of her enlightened attention to him?
Ridiculous are these justifications of wise as a snake, Europe - its ignorance, naivety and gullibility, as if it were a question of a college student. Europe does not know because it does not want to know, or, to put it better, it knows as it wants to know, that is, as it corresponds to its preconceived notions, passions, pride, hatred and contempt.
Ridiculous are these wooings of the people towards foreigners with the aim of showing them Rus' in person, and through them to enlighten and make the deluded and blinded public opinion of Europe see clearly. Why not satisfy the curiosity of a kind person; it is only in vain to combine various oculistic dreams with this. There is no need to remove a whitish spot on the shell of the eye for one who has eyes and does not see; there is no need to cure the deafness of one who has ears and does not hear.
Enlightening public opinion with books, magazines, pamphlets and the spoken word can be very useful in this respect, as in all others, only not for Europe, but for us Russians ourselves, who are even accustomed to looking at ourselves through other people's eyes, for our compatriots. For Europe, this will be a waste of time: without our help, she herself will know what she wants, and if she wants to know.
The fact is that Europe does not recognize us as its own. Europe sees in Russia and in the Slavs in general something alien to her, and at the same time something that cannot serve for her as a simple material from which she could derive her own benefits, as she extracts from China, India, Africa, most of America, etc., - a material that could be molded and fashioned in its own image and likeness, as it was previously hoped, as the Germans especially hoped, who, despite their glorified cosmopolitanism, look forward to the salvation of the world only from a single saving German civilization.
Europe sees in Rus' and in the Slavs not only an alien, but also a hostile principle. No matter how loose and soft the upper, outer, weathered and turned into clay layer turned out to be, Europe nevertheless understands, or, more precisely, instinctively feels that under this surface lies a strong, hard core that cannot be crushed, not ground, not dissolved, - which, consequently, will not be able to assimilate itself, turn into its own blood and flesh - which has both the strength and the claim to live its own independent, original life."
*Pushkin (Russian poet, playwright and prose writer, who laid the foundations of the Russian realistic trend, literary critic and literary theorist, historian, publicist, journalist)*
*(draft text of a letter to Benckendorff, 1831)*

What is said in this video is true. I was born in Russia, I live in Russia. I am "white", like most people in Russia (if you divide by American patterns). Moreover, I can say that in the difficult years of the 1990s and 2000s, St. Petersburg was considered the city with the largest number of Nazi groups. I live 400 kilometers from St. Petersburg (by the standards of Russia, this is very close) and I know what I'm talking about. There is a huge university in my city where people from all over the world study (except the "civilized world"). And there are no problems here. As for the knowledge of the Russian language, I absolutely agree. After all, Nelson Mandela said: If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart. I'm honestly surprised that we are considered racist. We have 17 million square kilometers, two parts of Eurasia and Orthodoxy, Islam and Buddhism. Let me give you one example of racism. In 1552, Ivan the Terrible took Kazan, the capital of the Kazan Khanate (the religion of Islam and the Turkic language). Do you think for almost 5 centuries they have changed their faith and language? No! The Tatar language is the second language in Russia in terms of the number of speakers, and the Tatars have traditionally remained Sunnut Muslims. Do you think there can be racism in such a country?

Americans, Europeans are racist not only towards blacks, Asians, but also towards white Russians. This is the absolute truth. All these countless Western sanctions, bans on Russians, the desire to humiliate Russians, to insult them, to denigrate them, to deprive them of something - is this not racism? Not xenophobia? Not a desire to subjugate? It is also proof that the West has still not disposed of its colonial legacy, as Putin often says. They still divide people into first class - them, and second class - everyone else.

I'm a St. P local, skinheads were a weird subculture that arrived here after ~1992 and lasted till like 2015. They started appearing abit after the USSR collapse, under the influence of western culture that poured at us with opening of borders. Our young people soaked up all the worst things they've seen from movies and music and that developed into skinhead groups that started appearing one after the other. Back in USSR and even centuries before, there were no such racist groups on our territories, that would simply be impossible due to the multi-cultural nature of our country.
If that makes it any better for you, those skinheads were trouble not just for people of color or foreigners, those were thugs that treated others badly in general, but obviously people of color and foreigners were their primary target so you got the worst of it.
Right now i doubt that subculture is even present among the young people, i haven't seen a single person resembling a skin head in years.

No where on earth is 100% without hate, it’s what’s done about it that matters…. In some europeans countries a racist will brutalize and kill a person for being black while others will stand there and watch it… in Russia and most places, someone will intervene… so it’s the indifference of some that is worse than the occasional racist…

Those who don't support the war love foreigners even more. Even Ukranians are welcomed, if they're not provocateurs.
But who are not welcomed are migrants setting their own rules in our territory. For example, recently some migrants cut a Russian man's scalp because he had dyed hair. As I know, at least one of them was Azerbaijani. And the amount of crimes made by foreigners greatly increased this year.

A lot of Asian people, especially Vietnamese people experienced that at young ages. Nowadays I'm 24 y.o., and I usually don't meet that attitude (тьфу-тьфу-тьфу). I'm still afraid of that, I'm afraid of teenagers, because they know they wouldn't get punishment, their behaviour is unexpected (this is my trauma from the childhood). BUT I love Russian people, their mentality, self-esteem, cuisine, I love my dear Russian friends. I think Russian mentality is closer for me, rather than Vietnamese. And I like Russian bad words and use them. They can exactly express your emotions 😁
