Wow thank you for making this video! I same here from 1420! This story hit me as my parents are both African's who were studying in Ukraine (which was USSR back then as you know). It was great that you were able to share his story.
Many people are probably unaware that the old Soviet Union (along with other east bloc countries) had various scholarship programs for many African countries. In the early 1980's, I attended an intensive language school (to learn German) in West Germany. Many of my fellow students were from Africa, there to pursue postgraduate studies after obtaining graduate degrees in the Soviet Union. Coming from the US, it was challenging enough for me to learn my first foreign language, but for the African students it was the forth or fifth language on their list. As I struggled through that experience, they helped me out a lot. Having that experience in life, I do not find it that unusual that this gentleman from Uganda seems so fluent in the language and is 'at home' with the culture. Such a great story here, I if I may add, yours as well!

Thank you for this rare insight into the life of an extreme individual and his ability to overcome all of lifes obstacles. XX much love and stay safe
That man would survive anywhere you can tell, he's from Uganda but he's a world citizen.
Ugandans you just dont know us we inherit the whole earth we are really everywhere. Do some research.
Yes, I read that too. Also a few aristocratic blacks in Russia previously. There is also an African presence in Turkey as well.
@@pastryshack551 your comment contradicts itself.
Interesting! But what terrible living conditions for a retired person who has a college degree. But he has a zest for life, despite his bad situation. Africans are survivors.
Yes they are. And very loving, caring, beautiful People, like the Carribeans, Dominicanos and Puerto Ricans are!
Russia actually needs more of them
He could be living in a good condition if he went back home
that the Russia not just today is long time were progress for people is forgotten by power people most in province only living day by day is sad is the riches land in the world what they done for long time nothing is not new that East Blok fight for take them out from they beck Russia is not just Russia is many different country together and racism is no news in this place

The most heartwarming laugh ever. He seems to have a "wiseness of the heart". I wish him the best
As a Ghanaian, I studied in Poland for 6 years. I returned home immediately I completed because I missed my family so much. I am so proud of this guy. I love his smile and positivity. Kudos to you for bringing back nice memories 👌. Will surely share this video.
And how are you doing now after your studies in Europe?
Have you learned Polish as well as English? That’s very impressive
Love from Poland!

He was quite a character! Full of life! Thanks for bringing your visit with him to us, Sergei. Take care.
Bless your heart Sergei. Jorgi is a lovely man. He has so little, but has such a big, lovely personality. Love to both of you from Australia x
I'm watching this video today (29/06/22) and am really touched by the kindness of the Russian gentleman. I join other human beings in thanking you for taking care of our brother from Uganda. You have shown us that there are such good people in Russia too. Thanks again!!!!
WHAT a brave man!!! He's so happy, resourceful and hard worker!!! An African in cold Russia!! What a joy to watch!! If ONLY we as human beings realised that we're the same at 💖💖 Thank you for sharing even though its a month later👍
As a ugandan, we love our brother
Thanks for reaching out to him
Being of African descent and living in the West, this touched me seriously. Thank you for showing this man decency and respect. That's all we really need.... Everything else is propaganda and fluff. We are tired of seeing it. It does nothing with Bigotry. We can live together, we can live apart. We can trade and not lose respect for each other. Respect the African/Black man...in return you will gain a friend. I can't say that about everyone...but I'm saying this from the heart. We all fall short...but never back into bigotry. I shared this is with you, because you demonstrated respect to this man. Far away from his Homeland. But he calls Russia Home as well.

@@TMS26164 ....and that is what shows that "humanity" trumps race because it should not be about the color of your skin! If Christ was JUST about the Jewish race, why would God ( the Creator), say that he shall have "children" from every nation? EVERY nation tells you that Christ for ALL, for God!
I wish mankind world over, would understand this!🙏
I've met so many goid people who are not my race. So to me there're only two kinds of people ... Good ones who don't stick their noses in everywhere und that sort of Fascists who will always reduce ppl to being less worth than others based on their skin, eye shape, language or a handicap 😶

Jogi has such kind heart and beautiful smile, I hope one day he gets to see his family and build that new house of his!
He has carved out a life for himself and I respect it. He has land, and he lives like a free man. I love this.
I hope you do go home to Uganda to see your mother before she passes though (with the help of a go fund me maybe)
Big respect to you brother. From the United Kingdom ❤️
What I liked about the story was that even though he is African, you did nothing to hinder, demean or make his life any more challenging than it is. I love that you took the time to let him tell his (his smile tells more if you watch?) story through your question's and you took the time to introduce him to fishing? In my own country, the U.S., I have to be ready to survive possible experiences with the Police and I must also be well versed in the law and how to use it to protect myself, property and right's. He may not have family there, but you seem to be like family to him. It was nice for me to absorb the interaction's.
You are such a kind man , Jogi is a good man too he has such a positive attitude to life ♥️♥️
What a joyful man ! Thank you for introducing Jogi to me ! His joy is contagious. God bless you my friend 🌹🙏
That was very interesting! Jogi's attitude is accepting and upbeat. He's happy and thrives in spite of his limited resources and past mistreatment. I'd like to see more of this remarkable man.
May GOD richly Bless both of you 🙏 ❤
And the west should learn life is not all about the money.
I am originally from South Africa and as this man is talking, smiling and telling of his hardships, it feels like I am back in South Africa! Thank you for sharing his story
Heartwarming .....!!!...he loves his adopted country...
As a fellow Ugandan, I would contribute to a go-fund-me if this brother wants to return home. Come back home, brother.
He would be welcomed and given a big welcome back feast!!!
Hmmm. Come home with empty pockets and 20 cats? That's why he hasn't left Russia.

Wow what a man, well educated, speaks perfect Russian, highly spirited, healthy etc, so sad he lives very poorly, I hope he gets help in order to improve his living condition as he's well integrated into Russian society. Good job Sergey, thank you.
he lives like a homeless, although his major is quite nice. Weird. He should move to some different country I think… if he gets the money for the ticket
But I guess he has no work
@@samysdefer he's from Uganda. For his homeland he's living luxurious.
I speak Russian and his Russian is far from beng perfect.
That being said; it's quite good and he even speaks slang.
This is how many Russians live because its economy is the size of Italy's due to oligarchs sucking it dry. Russia has immense resources and a tiny population yet they love to be slaves and bend over for billionaire vampires
I am from the former eastern block and back then, that was the case with pretty much all Africans that came to us. They came to study, learned the languge and integrated very well. There probably was a strict selection process in the first place. Nothing like what immigration is now
Thanks!
I’m lost for words Sergei. The world needs more of you and this sweet man Jogi. Despite living in terrible conditions, being cheated by his employer and unable to see his family, this magnificent man could not stop smiling. His warmth touched my heart. I am going to share this video with my huge family in London to help you get more views. Your channel is 5 star documentary film making. I’m watching from USA.
Thank you for sharing his story. I enjoyed his positive and friendly attitude.
The same thing happened to my grandmother in Brazil. She worked for almost 20 years, her boss didn’t pay into the pension and stole the money she paid and recorded NOTHING.
O que pena!
That is terrible.
What goes around comes around.
I would use my last penny and strength to look for the bastard and do him in. I swear there's no way any human can steal so much from my mum or grandma and live to enjoy it......NO WAY!
The boss will get his karma one day. That is evil.
This Guy is seriously positive, what a great character. His attitude that everybody is basically the same is a great view to have. What an effervescent character.
I loved his laugh and his high spirit. God bless him and keep him in his hands. Thanks for posting this video.
Wow thank you for making this video! I same here from 1420! This story hit me as my parents are both African's who were studying in Ukraine (which was USSR back then as you know). It was great that you were able to share his story.
is there any way we can support him?
@@christopherrich7107 yes exactly, there is a whole community of us children who were born in Ukraine/Russia from this era! Great story, I didn't know that the students were also going to Germany!
@@Ridffsf perhaps east Germany GDR which was part of Eastern block. In Poland, where I'm from, I remember back in 80's I've met students/doctors from Iran.

Well done, Sergei.
It is a shame some few people tried to break his life by denying him or stealing his pension entitlements, but yet he stands unbroken and still smiles as he ages and struggles.
You showed great heart giving him something to keep him going. As he said, majority of people everywhere are nice, it is just the few that try to damage society.

After crying through all of the other videos this one was very welcomed. Thank you Sergei gave her all your doing. May God bless you and this beautiful man Jogi. His inner light and kind soul are a so welcomed. Please visit him again.
Got so nostalgic feelings when seeing this admirable Jogi. Once I was working two years in Udanda, and my local counterpart look just like Jogi, could have been his brother - even similar heartily laughter and sense of humor. So probably he is from Luo tribe, cattlemen which are living in eastern Uganda. Thank you so much for this video.

With all the resources and wealth in this world, no one would really have to live this way, if goverments operated like they should. I respect and appreciate this gentleman he has made the choice to be happy, instead of being angry or resentful, which many would understand. It takes a special person to do this. He's accomplished so much alone, I can't imagine how much more he could get done with a little help.
Thankyou Sergei, I got a lot out of that, there's a guy in a different country, away from his family, living on very little, and yet he is joyous. Such a great reminder that you don't need "stuff" to be happy.

He is making a very strong point here: people don't need a lot of 'stuffs' to be happy. Being one with nature and being in peace, being free from discrimination based on color of skin or religion, having a good laugh are more important in life..
amen!
It's like I'm dreaming of the way he lives his life. Even though you can call it poor and maybe, boring to present standards of living. Peace and quiet. Open air. Large piece of land. He's RICH in some other way. And he's GENUINELY HAPPY! I envy him. I just wished I'd moved to Russia long ago.
Being Rich is not the essence of happinesses otherwise suicide rates would be VERY LOW AMONGST THE RICH.
What a beautiful loving and happy man 🥰, God bless you brother Jogi ❤️
Damn. As a Ugandan, this video is inspiring. The Russian language and land are far different from our own but am truly impressed how fluent Jogi is in Russian.

As "well" as this man
Yogi is a nice and hardworking man. He's having a hard time living, but he's always cheerful and smiling.😁😁😁
You are kind. Thank you for that gift to him and for inquiring about his family. It is deeply sad that his "boss" was so cruel. Jogi gets credit for working only 5 years when he worked three times that! His pension/his circumstances would have been much better had he not been cheated. Of course, he could not have returned to his homeland empty-handed after all those years abroad. What that man did to him was sinful - but he will not escape the evil he did, Karma will bite him! Strong man. Lesson learnt; you can be happy in any situation and in any condition with the right mindset. The man is very contented with what he has. He is very happy and comfortable with the little he has. Life should be like this
Jogi has such a lovely, humble spirit. He lives in poverty but finds much to be happy about. His need for companionship is helped a little by his WhatsApp talks with his family in Uganda and his 20 cats give him some warmth and attention that would help to overcome his loneliness.
I am so sorry that he was abused by his cruel employer. Life has not been easy for him and is still extremely hard. This educated man has risen above his circumstances and can still laugh.
Jogi's life has touched my heart. I can only hope one day that he returns to Uganda to reunite with his family.
