    I dont like how there isnt a mount to actually attatch it to the canister filter. Why not make a mount that can utilize the 2 clips on the top of the filter to hold the clarifier.

    I have recently noticed that the UV bulb has blown out, despite being within the expected 2-year lifespan. The bulb lasted only around 8 months, which seems significantly shorter than anticipated

    Hi
    I have a 350 L Chiclid tank. What is the duration i should keep the uv light running in a day?

    • @fluval
      @fluval  4 месяца назад +1

      Hello! We recommend first running the FX UVC Clarifier intermittently, while the aquarium lights are on. If the desired effects are not achieved, gradually increase the amount of time the unit runs each day until they are.

    Hi, why would you put it on the output tube? Surely the inlet would be more beneficial? 1) clarifying dirty water first 2) not to kill any of the beneficial bacteria that is in your biomedia. I’m not expert but seems more logical to me. Thanks

    • @fluval
      @fluval  10 месяцев назад +2

      Hi there! The FX UVC Clarifier should be mounted on the output of your canister filter. If mounted on the intake, particles and debris in the water may shield algae and bacteria from the UVC light. On the output side, the water is free of particles and debris, and as such algae and bacteria are eliminated with the greatest efficiency.
      The beneficial bacteria in our aquariums live on surfaces, not in the water column, and are therefore not exposed to UVC light.

      @@fluval thanks for the reply and makes sense. So there isn’t much point putting something like seachem matrix to try and grow beneficial bacteria in the filter ie just use sponges to clean the water.

    • @fluval
      @fluval  9 месяцев назад +2

      Biological filter media is definitely helpful! It provides a dedicated space for nitrifying bacteria and offers more surface area than other media types. We wouldn't recommend anything other than Fluval BIO-FX, though! 😉

    • @fluval
      @fluval  22 дня назад

      Hi there! No, the UVC Clarifier operates independently from the canister filter. Thanks to its CCFL bulb, which runs cooler than traditional fluorescent bulbs, it is safe for the unit to continue operating without constant flowing water!

    I have a question about UVC clarifier, the FX6 automatically turns off for 2 minutes after every 12 hours to remove bubbles from the canister. What happens to the UVC bulb during this time, since water isn't flowing through it? The manual clearly states that the unit shouldn't be run without water flow.

    • @fluval
      @fluval  7 месяцев назад

      Hi there, great question! Thanks to its CCFL bulb, which runs cooler than conventional fluorescent bulbs, the FX UVC Clarifier remains operational while FX Series filters pause to purge air every 12 hours. If the filter is shut off for longer periods of time, first unplugging the UVC Clarifier is recommended.

    There are no access to clean the quartz tube will that not build up with gunk? and it might block the uv rays eventually. Please let us know

    • @fluval
      @fluval  10 месяцев назад +1

      The cool running temperature of the CCFL bulb prevents calcium build-up on the quartz lens, and as such no maintenance is required.

      Hi there! The FX UVC Clarifier utilizes a CCFL UVC bulb, which runs cooler and draws less power than traditional fluorescent bulbs while providing the same clairifying benefits! It's like when aquarium lighting switched from T8 / T5 to LED and the "watts per gallons" rules stopped being applicable.
