My wife of 50 years and I loved that movie. She's gone now, but even today, I watched it and wept. Funny how seeing things you and your love always enjoyed can still bring tears to your eyes. I almost turned to laugh with her at our favorite parts, then realized she and Corey Haim are gone, I hope the best for Mr Busey and Megan Follows. Once in a while they find a perfect combination of actors/actresses for screen plays and they work perfectly. Silver Bullet is one of them.
Horrible werewolf design due to the production being rushed unfortunately *BUT* it’s still a damn good movie, I really love the characters in the film especially Marty Coslaw and Uncle Red played wonderfully by the late Corey Haim and the delightfully bizarre Gary Busey. 😊
@@konstantinoskaragiannis1596 Thank you so much! I watched the movie and i freaking loved it!! The werewolf really freaked me out, and I'll can tell you, that monsters on CGI cannot give you more of a scare then the old effects like in the 80's! Thanks again!
Snuck into to see this as a 10 year old at the drive-in theatre with my friend and his older brother as a triple feature with Friday the 13th part 5 and Fright Night on Halloween ‘85. My mom was furious from the lack of sleep I endured for the next two weeks. Good times!
I grew up in the 80s but never watched this until I was an adult. Glad I did. I don't hear many mention this as a classic, but it's really a good movie in its own way.
One of the top 5 horror movies of all time. Just watched it again and still holds up so well. The tone, atmosphere, real life costume. Seriously watch this if you haven’t.
@@OldSchoolCurt 80s was arguably the most original and daring era ever in television. 90s also to be honest. But the 80s horror and comedys are unmatched lol

I have to agree. The werewolf in this movie looked more like a deranged grizzly bear but still compared to today’s horror movies and it’s over digitized nonsense this film still holds up fairly well. It’s definitely ripe for a remake however if they do remake it I hope they don’t over-digitize the hell out of it! Digitization is good when it’s used subtly but in large doses it makes a film seem lifeless, plastic and shallow.
@@phayzyre1052 Be cool if they made it a mini series on Netflix where each episode chronicles every month leading up to the full moon. And yes, absolutely use practical effects. Maybe even get Rick Baker to do it. Then use the Jaws approach and don't show the werewolf until later in the series, only glimpses and first show the aftermaths of the attacks as gorey and brutal to really unsettle the audience before they see the beast. Sorry for the long response, I love movies and writing so this would be a passion project of mine
@@phayzyre1052 I agree 100%! CGI has become amazing and you can barely tell reality from CGI now but I still love the animatronics and makeup of the '80s horror movies. American werewolf in London was another one that was excellent and ahead of its time. Part 2 sucked donkey dicks because it used a lot of CGI. I'm talking about American werewolf in France. That was trash!
Yes. 80s had the beat original horror movies not like the cgi and other effects they show nowadays. This movie has that nice characters plus movie has dark feeling, the fear, suspense and thriller and after all everything here looks natural. It feels very real that's what makes such movie watchable. That's what makes 80s special.
I love this movie. I saw it when I was fairly young. Despite it having an R rating it's actually a horror movie for kids. It's scary but not to the point of giving most children nightmares.
I am terrified of werewolves to this day because of this movie. I'm still convinced that if I don't unlock my door fast enough when I get home, that werewolves are going to get me.
turns 35! I remember watching it a few years ago Very good werewolf flick A decent Stephen King adaptation Good dosage of horror and the characters are likable Corey Haim and Gary Busey make good leads The sister who narrates is very sweet and sincere 1 large gaping plothole and the look of the werewolf doesn't look the best but the transformation scenes are top notch and they jump right into the frights The title is hilarious for two reasons as well
I just finished watching it again & 1 plot hole is after the Rev. attacks Corey in the bridge scene, it isn't clear if they boycotted his church or if his parents made the kids attend his sermons. That would've made for some more creepy interactions. The film was had an excellent cast including the werewolf's alter ego. I'd have given him an Oscar for that scary performance.
I loved Kings graphic novela this was based on, “Cycle Of The Werewolf”. Read it when I was 12. Ran like hell back to the house when I put the garbage out for the next 10 years. So by loved, I mean it scared the bejesus out of me.

Everyone saying it's campy or saying funny things about it ... nah this movie scared the crap outta me, seriously. I'm still so afraid to watch it to this day. It's almost like a phobia now... I even bought it to try and fight this fear of that particular werewolf but man I can't even look at when the werewolf comes on screen and that creepy as hell score. I'm still trying to bring myself to not be afraid of this particular werewolf. Whew. And it doesn't help where I live pretty much looks like that town. Gee whiz. 😖
Was watching October Faction and it turns out their boss was Anne of Green Gables but is also in this classic flick, not a huge fan of Anne, although it's her most iconic role, but this here is one of my favorite movies of all time, although that's a big list so it's maybe not saying much.
Makes me wonder if Stephen King actually saw a werewolf and that's why he wrote about it. People have been saying they exist for hundreds of years and now with all the dogman stories it would seem they are real and they won't be able to hide for much longer
This movie much like the Piper movie THEY LIVE is a documentary. In this movie the pastor/preacher starts off as the type of character that is holy and a savior, but deep inside he's really a werewolf which happens to be a monster. Then in real life we have pastors/preachers that are like monsters that preys on kids.
Considering it’s borderline campiness and given the time period in which this film was made it wasn’t all that bad yet by the same token it’s worthy of a remake. The only real gripe I have about this movie was the werewolf looked a little bit hokey and appeared to look more like a “werebear” than anything else. Other than that this movie is still watchable.
