    This is incredibly post-post, but here's a go; I just got my Super NT from the most recent batch release, and it seems to start with a newer firmware (May 2023 I think). When I follow these steps and insert the SD card, the NT boots like normal but does not flash anything; I know it is reading the SD card as it shows up in the SPC player. Am I doing something simple incorrectly or is this an issue with the new releases?

    • @RetroSho

      Haha! You got some very good timing Zac! the jailbreaker released a firmware update JUST yesterday for your newer console. This firmware also works with the older consoles, so I'll be also updating my own today. Here is the link:
      github.com/analoguejb/Analogue-Super-Nt-JB
      To be sure, you didn't do anything wrong. The older firmware simply does not work on your newer console, due to some hardware changes. This newer JB I linked you should work. Enjoy! 😎

    NOTE: While I mentioned that the CopySNES can dump your ROM and Save RAM, it *CANNOT* restore either to a cartridge. You'll need a Retrode device or similar to restore data to a cartridge.

    Concerning BIOS Files:
    @Gabriel Hitt Asked about thie BIOS files (I think his message got auto deleted by RUclips?). You simply just need to type in "SNES BIOS Files" into Google and run a search. I left you the CRC32 values so you can cross check and ensure you have proper files that are compatible with the JB. They may also come with different extentions, such as *.rom* -- you just need to rename these extensions *.bin*, then drop them into the folder.
    Concerning CopySNES:
    While CopySNES is able to dump your games and saves, you CANNOT use it to write saves back onto a cartridge. You will need a tool such as the Retrode to write back to cartridges! Please keep this in mind!

    Hi, a bit late to the party but I have question :-) I managed to get it working but many of the games I downloaded are shown in the menu of my Super NT as _GAMETITLE, so with an underscore and those games are not starting. If I check the files on my memory card they don't have the underscore. Any idea what this might be?

    • @RetroSho
      @RetroSho  Год назад

      Yo! Never too late to the party! It's possible that the ROMs that you've downloaded have an incorrect format! You'll want to make sure all ROMs have a .SFC file extension. Interesting that there is an underscore before each file -- I've never heard of such an issue before! 🤔 Some questions for ya:
      1) Is your SD card a Sandisk or Samsung? Another 3rd party brand?
      2) How old is your SD card?
      3) Did you download your ROMs one by one from a site? Or dump them yourself?

    • @GenjiG
      @GenjiG Год назад +1

      @@RetroSho Thanks for the quick reply! The files I downloaded are all .sfc so that should be ok. I downloaded them as a packet from a site but maybe I now have to many ROM’s in the SNES-file? There are about 800. The card is a Samsung and brand new. Strange this is that many ROM’s (who do not show with the _) do work. Don’t know yet why there is difference but will check again. And if you have any ideas let me know 😁

    • @GenjiG
      @GenjiG Год назад

      I found the issue! All files have a _ variant and also a regular name variant. So every ROM is mentioned twice in the list I see on my NT. Because I had so many files I didn’t notice this. I only noticed it when I removed all ROM’s and put just something like 30 on the memory card. Still strange but everything is working now 😄

      @RetroSho  3 года назад +1

      Yes, this is perfectly fine to do. Go for it! -- You can load up your card and have it ready with all of your files before your jailbreak the console! The very first file that the console is designed to look for is any firmware that will be on the card (official or jailbreak) *THEN* it'll see ROMs and so on.

      @@RetroSho thank you very much for the quick reply... I'll finish setting up the card right now. In another jailbreak vid the guy says to use 2 separate cards but I am guessing you never had any issues using only one? (that's actually my last question lol)

    • @RetroSho
      @RetroSho  3 года назад +1

      @@Pawnshow Nope! Never had any issues with one at all. In fact, years ago when there used to be many updates, I would just slap the newest firmware onto the card, flash the firmware, and I was good to continue where I left off. The console cannot be damaged in any way from flashing.

      1) Make sure Python 3 is installed. (You can type "python --version" in the cmd prompt, without the quotes.)
      2) Ensure that the files you do have are No-Intro verified. They should be named "DSP1 (World) (Enhancement Chip).bin", "DSP1 B (World) (Enhancement Chip).bin" and so on. Rename each file as needed -- you can see the names they need to be in the Python script code.
      3) Place all of the .bin files and the Python script in a folder of your choice.
      4) Run the script via the cmd prompt (or click on the script), and they should produce the files you need.

      Welcome man! As Teni said below, it's the exact same speed wise as original carts, so you won't notice any difference as far as input delay, and game quirks on a game by game basis. Essentially, a jailbroken Super NT invalidates the need for a Super Everdrive, if you don't have a need for save states. @@j-555 You're welcome! It's kinda unfortunate in a number of ways. For one Smokemonster has been retired from retro gaming related topics and discussion for a number of years now, so doubtful he would read any of it. It was not built into the firmware likely because these BIOS files are considered "official" and would constitute an illegal action to have them baked into the firmware (an alternative to this would be if they wrote their own BIOS files which requires a LOT of work). The emulators that can run them no problem either have this baked in (which again, is still illegal), or they have since wrote their own files over the years (completely fine if they reverse engineered and rewrote the functionality).
      No word on it because it's likely not as huge an issue, or the correct BIOS files have been floating around somewhere. I doubt it has worked for everyone because I have personally been seeing the issue a number of times over the years. I can't exactly give people the files, as that would be bad and could potentially put my RUclips channel at risk. Thankfully, there is a middle ground like this script in these cases.

I was able to get the proper bios files and verified them via checksum. they all matched and were the ones you listed. that's so weird how the emulator itself is not illegal but the inclusion of the bios files is? Were they able to come out with the smokemonster jailbreak because they reversed engineered it like you said? I got the bios files from version 6.9. when I downloaded the zip of 6.9, the bios folder with all the .bin files for the chips were included.

      No way to do this at all. It *could* be programmed to play CPS1 ROMs, but there is no core like this that exists. What you would want in this instance is a MiSTer FPGA set up. 🤔

    If I jailbreak my super nt, is it just custom firmware built off the official firmware? Or do I need to update the official firmware first and THEN jailbreak?

    • @RetroSho

      It's custom firmware built BASED on the original. You can update directly to the jailbreak firmware or you can jump from the jailbreak firmware to the official firmware if you so choose.

    Hey man, I don't understand where to find this .bins? Can you help me out???

    • @RetroSho
      @RetroSho  2 года назад +1

      Sup my man! It's unfortunate that I can't give these .bin files out, but what you can do is search for them on Google. In many cases you can type in the CRC32's number (for example for dsp1.bin type in "27124599"). It should take you to a page that will give you a few of them.
      cx4.bin (CRC32: B6E76A6A)
      dsp1.bin (CRC32: 27124599)
      dsp1b.bin (CRC32: 588279B4)
      dsp2.bin (CRC32: F0221C90)
      dsp3.bin (CRC32: E3B54E6A)
      dsp4.bin (CRC32: CA09E176)
      st0010.bin (CRC32: 8D136190)
      st0011.bin (CRC32: 750C6012)
      Another option is by converting the No-Intro ROM set's .bin files so they match the CRC32 values. 🤔
