      There are a hundred places to buy tickets. You pass ticket booths even on the main road leading to Algeciras towards Malaga and even from Granada. You can also buy tickets online or at the port. Your choice. We're not promoting one or the other, that location was just convenient as it's right next to supermarkets and parking.

    First, thank you so much for this video, so much information and useful tips. Especially for us since we never drove through Spain and Portugal and it is on our list for the following EU summer. I was thinking we can detour to Morocco while we are there but we were not sure what is like over there (crossing and customs etc). Now we know what will be ahead of us. Definitely we will look for Carlos services and other things you mention here. I downloaded this video onto my phone and will keep it as a reminder guide for that trip. We will be traveling with our small car so the crossing will be much easier for us but not sure about language barrier. You both speak languages closer to the locals so I hope they speak good enough English for basic communications. For us Greece was the hardest one and some German and France places were challenges but more because of the arrogance of few people who refused to speak English (in public places) than general problem. I speak Slav, English and Hungarian but not much help in Spain, Portugal and maybe Morocco. Once we sort out our SIM cards google translate will be helpful there. This video of yours made us to make up our mind and we will definitely visit Morocco too. When we get to Morocco crossing, we both (my wife and I) will do Lisa’s dancing too. We will be just as excited and some more as we have never been on African continent yet (been on all others but Africa and Antarctica).
    And regarding the names for your own dish, you prepare for yourself, I am completely on your side. Only if you make a dish for someone else and especially if you sell that dish, you have to make it as per known recipe. Wait until they discover a semllovision recorder and then see if you cannot call this dish paella. I can just tell by looking at it it smell and taste great. Cooked in the motorhome - extra recognition. You just keep doing your virtuoso cooking and call it whatever you like as long as it looks as good as it does.

    • @WeWillNomad
      @WeWillNomad  Год назад

      Thanks Peter. Something to keep in mind is that there is a 'mass movement' from Europe across the strait from around middle June to end of August by migrants returning to their hometowns in North Africa for summer holidays in Europe. This can cause bottlenecks at ferries in Spain. Apart from that, it can be incredibly hot in the south of Spain over summer (and even more so in Morocco) and it might make travel a bit more demanding overall. One thing we forgot to mention in the video is that you may need to get insurance cover for your vehicle if Morocco is not included in your existing cover. This is available at the port but will always be 3rd party only.

    • @beograd07
      @beograd07 Год назад

      @@WeWillNomad Thank you for this info. Our car is registered in Serbia and we obtain a "green card" insurance every year because to go from Serbia to Greece over North Macedonia it is required and we spend every year at least a week in Greece. You have Italian registered motorhome but when you went through Albania which is also not a member, you probably had to get it then and it is valid for the duration of your vehicle (Italian) insurance policy. Morocco is sort of considered part of the Europe but not recognised by insurance companies so at least Green Card is required. Your comment made me think about it and will double check with Serbian insurance if I need anything extra for Morocco. Your video just proved Morocco has a bad road safety reputation. Only 3rd party insurance is probably not enough. Serbian insurance companies usually have a reasonable priced comprehensive health and car insurance packets + road assistants for the whole Europe but now that you mentioned this I better check if Morocco is included. Thanks for the tip.
      For the traffic congestions because of migrants, that is an excellent tip. I wasn't thinking about it. We arrive in EU in mid May and leave it in early October. So we will hit the road to north (of Serbia) by the late May or in early September... Thanks for that tip too.
      Since we are coming from Australia (hot part of the Australia) heat is not a critical barrier for us. We will still enjoy our trip following your (new) tyre tracks...

      In bigger cities you always have risk of theft, no matter the country or location really. For personal safety Morocco is probably up there. Statistics shows it is the 8th 'safest' in the world and nr 1 in Africa. In reality your major risks are poor road conditions and less availability of emergency services.

    • @WeWillNomad
      @WeWillNomad  Год назад +1

      It seems like it's not easy to find comprehensive cover for Morocco - we have heard of 'some' Brits who have managed via their providers but then we also wonder of the so-called green card cover they get is actually comprehensive... We don't have comprehensive cover anyway, it's way too expensive in Italy to justify and 3rd party with roadside assistance is fine. It's a calculated risk but that's one advantage of having an older (cheap) vehicle.

    - I love the way that you keep Millie in tip top shape, she even has new shoes for her trip to Morocco !
    - So sorry to hear about your camera Andre, it’s nice to see you smiling about it but I would be fuming. Chin up...
    - The skyline of the port where you departed from looked quite depressing. All those bland high-rise buildings. Some towns/cities in France are like that with all those soul-less high-rise apartment blocks.
    - I love ferries. It reminds me of when we used to travel quite frequently between the UK and France and the UK and Ireland when the kids were young. It was always such an adventure for the boys. I think I would be nearly as excited as Lisa would be heading off on the Ferry to Morocco, ok, probably not quite as excited .....
    - The drone rules are concerning. What do they think you are going to do with it, steal some photons ? Idiotic IMHO.
    - Those vans with the crazy loads on their roofs are Moroccans who live in Europe and are bringing gifts/items back to their families in Morocco. In Europe these people may not be considered all that well off but in Morocco they are very well off. So, its customary to bring back gifts like this when visiting “home”. In the summer months it’s even more bonkers.
    - I love the blue skies in Morocco. And Lisa has the audacity to wear sunglasses just to rub it in. Yes, it’s still cold and raining in Ireland. And then you say you are too warm, you really are cruel. 😉
    - Loved that clip on the roundabout, what rules of the road was he/she adhering to ?
    - That annoying intrusive “noise” from the Mosque reminds me of a hellish two months that I spent in Saudi Arabia in the 90’s. Good on you for believing in your God but for those of us who have received an education perhaps you could just pipe it down a little.
    - I’m curious to know how you get on in Morocco, some of our best friends when we lived in Brussels were Moroccan and their hospitality is second to none. You should try spear fishing in Tangiers Andre, apparently its amazing.
    - I loved your “Next Time” out-tro, it looks so cool. My bet is that was Andre skulking around the market in his hoodie.
    Safe travelling. Keep your pockets and purses closed in Morocco. I know that you will, looking forward to the “Next Time” video.

    • @WeWillNomad
      @WeWillNomad  Год назад +1

      Hi Ronan! Your notes are extensive 😂
      Somebody told us about Operation Crossing the Straits (operación paso del estrecho) to understand what happens during summer. Incredible.
      Not sure what the deal is with the drone paranoia. It's not like there's no Goggle sat view. But if you look at the incredible military and police presence around every corner it might point to some form of issue with security.
      Morocco so far has been interesting. Different. Challenging is a few ways. Friendly people. A bit early for us to really have much of an opinion.
      All I can say so far is that the roads and the driving has been a bit intense at times. Not so much the traffic, just the poor quality and the time it takes to cover distance.

I hope to learn things about your experiences since in April I want to go for 15 days with my wife and motorhome to Morocco, Atlas, Merzouga, Ruta 1000 kasbahs, Esaouira...... Good luck and have a good time.
    The vans loaded to the brim are Moroccans returning from their jobs in Europe and bringing all their belongings, others bringing merchandise to sell in Morocco. It is very typical (and dangerous) to see them loaded like this on the roads of Spain.
    Warm greetings from Spain.
It's a bit early for us to comment to be honest. But of course, as a destination Morocco will be different to especially Western Europe. One has to have a positive approach as that will mean not being too paranoid about every encounter. As with any destination you will have good and bad experiences. We learn from this and on average the good will always be much more than the bad. This is after all why we travel.

      Point taken. It's always a balance between telling a story, showing the area and scenery, and not dragging a video on too long for it to get boring.

      @@WeWillNomad thanks for your reactions however it is all a matter for how long you show your road vision people follow not only to hear a story but also want to see by themselves how it looks the scenery, such a fast track clip 1 in a vlog is ok but every time I do not like it but it takes not away that the vlogs a-ok ;-) have a good journey both

    Who's the italian of you two? Because you quite don't have an italian accent and also when you pronounce italian words It sound like you're not italian.

      Lisa grew up in an Italian family - in South Africa. Mother tongue for both of us is English (with a less than slight South African accent)

    Please don't go and visit Sardinia (by land): totally fenced, so many gates in the countryside and privitization. On top of that plenty of dangerous stray dogs. I've experienced it with the mountainbike as the worst region in Italy.

      We'll have to look into that, thanks. Our main motivation to go is to find some kitesurfing spots - of which there seem to be loads!

      There's more to any destination than just a label. Besides, it's not always the same everywhere. What you find in the middle east is very different to for example southeast Asia. We've had wonderful travels in countries such as Indonesia and Malaysa. But each to his own.
