    This is a cover of The Everly Brothers 1960's hit "Cathy's Clown". When Don Everly wrote this song to sing with his brother it was more from a young man P.O.V., when Rebe covered this song she changed it to fit a younger woman's P.O.V. of someone who was in love with a guy who still has feelings for another girl that broke his heart. I had been a fan of Reba's following her since 1987 when I first saw Reba on the music awards shows after her songs "Whoever's in New England" became a popular hit, but it wasn't until she record this song that I bought my first three Reba Albums.

    The outfit was what she wore in the video. She chose to remake this song because it came out when she was a teenager, and since she was recording her 16th album, she decided to do something that was on the radio when she was a teenager.

    Reba's earlier work was much more traditional country music. I actually prefer it to her later stuff, but hey, the later stuff is what cemented her stardom to the wider audience. Check out "when whoever in new england". Classic early Reba.

    A ballad is a song that tells a story. 90% of Reba's songs are ballads, so I think you've probably heard her do one before, but I admit I don't remember all the ones you've done so far. Fancy, The Night the Light Went Out in Georgia and Is There Life Out There are all great Ballads she is known for.

    When Reba 1st started out she sang more traditional country. But later on she started singing more pop. I prefer and love traditional Country & wish she kept singing it. Listen to her cover of Patsy Cline's "sweet dreams" singing it acapella. Or her official video of "Whoever's in New England". I think it's the 1st video she ever did. I could be wrong. Of her earlier hits, my favorite is:
    "Somebody Should leave". Hits the heart strings.

    There are a couple songs of Reba you should hear. First one is actually a Kelly Clarkson song that she duets with her is "Because of you" another one they do together is "Does he love you" which is a Reba song. Another one I love of hers is "Greatest man I never knew" another song is "whoever's in new england" which if you listen to that, listen to Sugarland's song called "Stay" Sugarland wrote that song as the other side/perspective to Reba's song. Another good one is "Rumor has it"

    Cathy's Clown was a #1 hit for the Everly Brothers, I think 1960, then a #1 hit for Reba. Ballads are Reba's favorite. She has many. Check out her ballad, and twin fiddle steel guitar country song, her 2nd #1 hit, You're The First Time I've Thought About Leaving, from 1983. She has 24 #1 hits, second only to Dolly's 25. Unless they both have increased their numbers.

    The Everly Brothers had a hit with this when I was young. I liked Reba's earlier country music, but her easy listening allows her voice to really soar. Saw her in early 90s. She changed outfits constantly. "The Greatest Man I never Knew" tells the story of a dad and daughter that is so poignant, and it is probably my favorite.

    I just came from listening to the studio recorded version, and this sounds exactly like the studio recording.
    That's not a compliment to say she's performing it just as good as the studio version, but more of a suspicion that the audio is from the studio version and has been lip synced to this video.. Everything I'm saying is my opinion and have no facts to back it up. The earlier part of Reba's career was full of what you are hearing then she stopped singing that way it may have been her decision but it has written all over it an executive told her she sounded too much like a hick and wouldn't fit the image they changed artist into and ruined country music that is when she had enough and started acting

    • @JordRob-fw2cn
      @JordRob-fw2cn Год назад

      She evolved with country music as a whole. That’s why she’s still relevant today and younger generations hear her voice and fall in love with it. Not only that but if you listen to any interviews with her, she speaks on constantly growing and evolving personally, with her inner self. She sings on where she is in her life at that specific time. As a people we should all follow that..in my opinion 🤷🏽‍♂️
