Cathy's Clown was the 1st song I heard on the radio when I got my hearing aids. My husband watch me and saw the tears fall and he knew right then and there the only thing I was missing was listening to music. I wanted to hear and hearing Reba McEntire sing this song was the best thing. I know Reba McEntire is one the best recording artist to ever sing, this why she is so special to me. Thank you reba for being there to sing this song.
@Parker William I'm listening to this right now for the fourth time tonight..I really miss Rebas voice..she use to be all over the radio...her voice...with all due respect to the Everly Brothers.. this is THE version.. and honestly it's hardly a remake...reba's version is a completely different song..saw her many years ago..she was fantastic
That would be Bruce Boxleitner. Played in several movies and was the lead in the 80s tv series Scarecrow & Mrs. King. Used to be married to Melissa Gilbert.
This song is about a gal who fel for a married man who is married to a shrewd. Your guy is not a clown. The term was used in the song to basically say he's a fool for staying with her.
Beautiful lovely lady has a great wonderful lovely voice and great music and the Queen female country singer of all times keep up the good work babe God bless you more ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is my mom's song!!!! She'd listen to it all the time when I was growing up. I found it a few days ago, and was like "Remember this?" It was good to see her smile!
Love you, Aunt Mary*Miss you like crazy*V* being apprentice to greatest teacher of children has been my greatest works in this 43 years* next to my own children* but that's Good, not I*I mother and I miss my teacher*V*
I love Reba music. My family are Reba fans also. 3 generations so far with more on the way. Sing the music you want to lend your voice to Reba we will always be listening and collecting your sounds for our family enjoyment. We love you Reba
Many songs have been around for awhile. They never reach their true potential until the right singer comes along. Unchained melody written in 1936. Recored 500+ times in many languages. The Righteous Brother's in 1964, made it standout. Just as Reba does with this song.
It is a wonderful tribute to the Everly Brothers original Cathy's Clown that seems to have been forgotten. It is indeed one of the Great sixties classics that even influenced the Beatles who had not even had their first hit. I like the imagery of this video. The Old West. When Cathy's Clown came out in 1960. The TV especially Saturday mornings and afternoons were full of Westerns lol so Reba had the right idea for the scene. Good Reba. I give it a B
I got to meet him August 25th 1990 in Merrillville Indiana backstage at the Star Plaza. He came in and told us all what was going to happen, made sure if we brought any gifts for Reba to leave our contact info...I got a hand written letter from Reba about a month later thanking me for the flowers I brought. There was about 20 of us backstage, he brought her in, we all hung out for about 20 minutes..he laughed with us, and helped Reba with any questions she got stumped on...very nice guy, very protective of Reba. About 6 months prior to that, he wrote an article to Reba's fan club members announcing how excited he was for the upcoming tour, with a new stage show and lighting, that is was by far the biggest and best tour to date. He was a good man. God bless your family and Rest in Peace Mr Hammon.
Excellent cover by a true great lady of country. What a voice, effortlessly manages any range . She is excellent and a true star that has earned the title.
Great Song !!!!! Go Reba !!!!!! He's Cathy's clown !!!!!! You know you gotta stand tall. You know man can't crawl. And if you let her pass you by, you know you're not a man at all.
The reason I like Reba's videos is because they're mini-movie muscials. This one, "Fancy", "The night the lights went out in Georgia" - even "Take it Back"- all have that feel.
I guess every Man goes thru an error in his life when you have to bite your tongue, and humiliation is worse than an axe in the back..I will no longer be the clown
Lots of legends in this video. In addition to country music queen Reba McEntire, there's Bruce Boxleitner; and if you look closely, you'll see Buck Taylor (Newly, Gunsmoke), Paul Brinegar (Jelly, Lancer) and Johnny Crawford (Mark, The Rifleman). Has anyone spotted any others?
The other actor at the card table was Jerry Potter. He was in the remake of Red River with Bruce Boxleitner. He was also in The Quick and the Dead with Sam Elliott.
I remember seeing this video for the first time when it was brand new. A friend of mine and I were watching it and I said, "Oh my gosh! Is that Bruce Boxleitner?" We leaned in closer to get a better look and she said, "It is! That's Bruce!'. She and I are huge Bruce Boxleitner fans, and we could not contain our excitement seeing him in a country music video. We're both Reba McEntire fans, too. The next day, the same video came on TNN, and my Mom and I saw it. Bruce Boxleitner has been my favorite actor since I was 15 years old. I'm 48 now. I know that Bruce is a long time fan of country music, and I'm sure that working with Reba McEntire is something he'll always treasure.
On this thanksgiving I’m thankful for my friends and family I stood by and supported for years. I guess the word of the day is “rejection.” Let us give thanks. Fml
I didn't say they sound alike, THAT's why they have their OWN SOUND. I don't deny that Whitney became a drug addict, but she wasn't always, & she could sing like the star she was & one knew it was her voice & hers alone. Drugs have destroyed & killed many lives that could have been different without them, but wishing doesn't make it so. Being # 1 on the charts for a record 14 weeks and having 11, #1 hits does. Stop showing your ignorance. "She was a "star."
Actually I have to say "Reba is one of the most incredible women on earth, the way she sings is heavenly, and the only other female artist with real talent is Patty Loveless" Both of these ladies are incredible, timeless, and beautiful. O can listen to Reba all day and Patty all night Both have incredible range. Wonderful women
My Carmine use to play Kathy's Clown and Forever love and hold me in his arms and tell me forever and a day. I didn't know forever and a day was only 20 years. I wish I knew how to let go so the pain of missing him would go away.
This was originally written and sung by the Everly Brothers in the 60's. The Everly Brothers released “Cathy's Clown” in 1960, topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for several weeks
This particular western looks like a mini series that turned into a weekly show during 1978 and 1979. It was called How the West Was Won and starred James Arness, Bruce Boxlightner, Fionola Flannagan and many others. It had beautiful theme music.
This song brings back memories for me. My uncle use to be crazy about Reba. I don't know if he still listens or not. But he is dying from cancer. Don't know how much time he got but this song screams my uncle Johnny. 😔💔
Reba 1989 did a wonderful job also Bruce Boxleitner played the clown and there's a assorted cast of other stars. But Ofcourse Reba was and still is the Queen
Bruce Boxleitner and Reba McEntire what a powerful combination. I had to watch it twice the first time I saw it to be sure it was really him. God Bless You Reba.
It's great to see the western Stars of yesterday in this music video. So many great people, so many great movies! Another part of this great music video that has been overlooked by many.
What a BEAUTIFUL job of singing Cathy's Clown that I had only recently heard on the radio. I had mistakenly thought it was Dolly Parton singing until I did a search. WOW! Just WOW!
this is one of the cases when the remake completely blows the original out of the water. In fact I find it difficult to consider this as a remake. Her voice. .the curly cues. Maybe the greatest voice in country music.....maybe one of the greatest voices across all genres. love me some Reba
Love this song my little brother had a girl friend name Cathy and man he would follow her like a puppy I jump up and play this every time she came to the house. Thank the lord he got over her (took 6 months) I was so happy. Now he is with a good person that love's him he got two boy's. So now when I listen to this song I smile.
Let the people know what you want them and what they want you and what you want to do for them so they don’t feel pressured to go back to school 🏫 because they have to work and
If I were sent to prison for 4 years and could only hear one song...this is the one! Reba is beautiful here...so much pain from her lips...a songstress for the ages...for those who know the loneliness of a broken heart....
At first, I was like, "Cool song." And then I was like, "Holy cow, is that Bruce Boxleitner?" And then I was suddenly paying very close attention to this video. Thank you. Thank you, video. I'm glad you exist.
show some respect the coment wasnt about her personal life or comparing. This just gave you ammunition to display what your about. Be quiet and enjoy the good music.
Johnny Crawford, R.I.P. He is in this video.
That's cool whoever he is,? I did not know Reba sang this song
Cathy's Clown was the 1st song I heard on the radio when I got my hearing aids. My boyfriend was the one who commented and I agree with you . he is obsessed.
I love Reba's rendition of this old 50s song. One word discribes her... Time less.

That would be Bruce Boxleitner. Played in several movies and was the lead in the 80s tv series Scarecrow & Mrs. King. Used to be married to Melissa Gilbert.
As a little girl this song used to make me so sad but now as a grown woman I love this song ... he's definitely my clown ❤
This song is about a gal who fel for a married man who is married to a shrewd. Your guy is not a clown. The term was used in the song to basically say he's a fool for staying with her.

This Kathy loves Bruce, Reba, this song and video ❤️❤️❤️❤️

To be totally honest I seriously do not care what Reba sings she is so adorable and everything she does it's with such grace. God bless her.
Yeah she’s indeed nice. How are you over there?
It is a wonderful tribute to the Everly Brothers original Cathy's Clown that seems to have been forgotten. Reba is a all around great performer. Singer , actress & comedian . not many out there in my opinion
Reba is so unique and an amazing artist. I love this song.
The bar tender ( Jim hammon) was my grandfather,he was Reba's manager, I wish I could have meet him

You know you gotta stand tall. You know man can't crawl. And if you let her pass you by, you know you're not a man at all.
I've Seen And Heard Both And I Have To Say Reba's Version And Video Is A Lot Better!
That is the definition of traditional Country Music.
Actually it’s a rock and roll song from the earlier days. Everly Bros #1 hit in 1960.
She's most awesome female country singer ever.
The reason I like Reba's videos is because they're mini-movie muscials. This one, "Fancy", "The night the lights went out in Georgia" - even "Take it Back"- all have that feel.

Kay Kirkland one of the actors from Tombstone...not sure of the name
The other actor at the card table was Jerry Potter. He was in the remake of Red River with Bruce Boxleitner. He was also in The Quick and the Dead with Sam Elliott.
I can’t remember his name but don’t forget the bartender
I thought Johnny Crawford was Bruce Dern at first glance.

I respectfully disagree. Reba’s remake was really nice, but nothing can beat the original Everlys.
