I'm almost 50...my Dad brought home about 2000 sq feet of cargo net from a play ground his company was re-doing when I was 12. My brother and I strung it through an enormous Sycamore and Pecan tree that were growing in our yard. Our friends would come over and we would play tag in the trees and across the roof of the barn that was under some of the limbs. The rule was that you could not touch ground...5 or 6 of us could play at the time. Some of the best times of my life.
That is an incredible amount of work and material. If I heard correctly he estimated that one tree contained 100,000 ft of paracord. At $75 per 1000 ft spool that is $7,500 just for the paracord!
im so glad that tv is a thing of the past and today i can watch a grown man explaining his spiderwebtreehouse to me and walking on his roof if i want entertainment
Wow, that treenet looks awesome. I would love to have the option to build something like that, but I badly don't own a tree. So I might have to build some indoor solution
Heres an idea!! Have you thought about doing a break test with the whoop slings? I'm interested to see if they slip at all and where they tend to break.
@@HowNOT2 That was some awesome information thank you. Is there a video of the testing of the whoopie sling on your channel? I'm interested if the adjustable tail end ever slipped during testing.
Thanks so much for making these amazing videos! I'm gonna build one in my yard. I ordered some paracord. What kind of rope should we use for the perimeter? Nylon? Polyester? Looks like you all use retired climbing ropes... I don't think we have access to that many so we need to order something inexpensive but safe. Thoughts?
really any climbing rope you can find. If your putting one up pretty high with limited branches you might want to make sure you buy a legit CE rated rope and shit like that so you clip into it. Personally I wanted a legit rope so I bought this 100ft static rope for my perimeter: amzn.to/2SfL8PJ
If I hadn’t seen this video and just drove by I would’ve thought a methed out tweeker lived there. Who else would tie thousands and thousands of knots in a tree? Lol
seriously. how is this not completely destroyed by birds and squirrels. im sure it gets a little but we cant have a basketball net at our place. how does it survive
Be careful though, not all paracord are created equal...Not saying dont click the link, just do some research and dont get the Chinese cord...Most paracord coming from there isn't mil spec
Ehh. Yeah avoid chinesium but I’ve had proper paracord outside for years. Fairly uv resistant. At least this one doesn’t have home despot 70lbs test line as it’s base... this is killer actually!!
@@CaleyEichenlaub That's kind of what I was trying to get people to avoid...The Walmart "paracord"..Fine for non weight bearing tasks, but if you go through all the trouble of weaving a tree net, I would want it to last...Wasn't even a specific thing about the video..Sometimes you have to watch getting 550 cord online that's all I meant..Take care
man, what is that audio balancing? holy shit the vid was quiet so I had to turn it up and then my eardrums blew out from the outro jingle at about 14:00.
@@HowNOT2 thanks man. I like your content and I get video production is tough. I appreciate the response tho. may be worth investing in some lapel mics maybe? idk, there's several ways to improve it, but there were multiple times I couldn't hear the other guy. either way thanks for the cool vids!
That’s gonna be a huge mess for whoever has to cut down that tree. Enjoy it while it lasts. You’d be better off learning some tree climbing techniques and removing it yourself. Any arborist is gonna charge a fortune to remove that. Buy a pair of spurs and a cheap harness with side rings and send it
If someone needed a net like that removed… That would be so much fun! Such a satisfying challenge. Not that I would want to see anything like that removed, just saying as a climbing arborist who loves pruning, I disagree
I made my own "crazy net" ! I'd share my photo if I knew how! Please message me! I have a couple of questions I'd like to ask you... if you don't mind :)

A video about how to build proper treenet anchors to last would be awesome!!
Will do soon. I'll find a tree and do one from scratch and film it.
@@HowNOT2 Incredible! The recent treenet videos have me reaaallyyy wanting to build one.
Pretty sure Andy is a mad scientist.
Pretty sure he thinks he is, which is offputting.
I just love it! I imagined doing this for years.
Hope to get that chance soon.
Started with my first little "space net" / "tree net" in my back garden, cause of your vids!
Thanks!
That is awesome!
congrats

That guy is clearly insane.
I've never met him, but I like him already!
Enjoy him while he's still alive.
I NEED to see more of this!!!
Did the video about making a tree net from scratch ever happen? I can't find it
Just inspiring! Once again! Love what you doing/sharing! Please hold the Line ...🖖🏻
Thank you! Will do!

Awesome. Nesting birdie made my day
Super cool episode thanks! When Andy say 1 spool for 10 by 10 net, is that a 1000 spool size he referring too? thanks!
yea, 1000 foot spool
life changing video. thank you !!!!

yea... hit CTRL F on slacksnap chart. Its on website. We did a few i think last year

Nice how transparent your revenues/expenses are displayed on your website. 😃👍🏻
Once again I had a brilliant idea that someone else already beat me to.

"life safety tips from ANDY LEWIS" 🤣👍
Free Firewood you cut it you keep it
That is super cool
In christian culture it is a sign of Gods blessing on your house when a dove nests there the dove representing the holy spirit
If one of these were built in the woods. Would you have to worry about wild animals inhabiting it?
A new dream ty ❤❤❤
How many years your treenet?
I Let the ads play, so they can get paid. Just another way to help these guys out.
Feels like the spiders scene in LOTR.
This is cool
I really want to know the story of how your neighbors tree got weaved!
what a material used?
Buckminister Fuller wouldve loved this.
😁😁😁
Isn’t that becuase it’s polyester. Seems like the nylon is perfectly fine but poly paracord gets fucked in the sun
Well... much less sketch than the last one... this is almost a how too...

Cottonwood > Aspen for treehouses/nets.
uh neither of those are good they rot very easily and have some of the weakest wood already

No, we already made him head priest of the Church of Slacklife haha.
