Thank you so much for this video. I've been struggling through the manual not making any sense at all. I learnt more in 9 minutes from you than I have in the four weeks trying to go through the manual. I certainly need more fonts...lol.
You describe things so well. Thank you, this was absolutely as helpful as the videos directly from stitch artist company! I am going to buy this. I have been working with SewArt for over a year and it does not have half of these features, though it is less than half the price :) But you get what you pay for and this stitch artist looks totally worth it!!! I am just ready for something with more capabilities! Thank you again!
Isn't that what a demo is supposed to do? :) And yes, this project is very easy. The hardest part about digitizing creatively (once you've learned the program) is the creative part - decided what stitches to use and how to interpret the art.
I just worked my way through the entire lesson. I am looking forward to stitching it to see how it turns out in fabric and thread. I am wondering, though, is there a way to re-sequence the steps within the 2 applique sections. I would like it to stitch the placement lines for both, followed by the next step for both, etc., rather than going through the entire applique process for one half and then going through the entire process again for the 2nd half. Thanks for your videos, I know I am going to learn a lot from watching.
No. Stitch Artist, like most digitizing programs, works best when modifying designs you create with it. If you had a program that can open a PES file and convert it to objects, then those stitches could be changed. I know Hatch can do that but I don't think S-A can. I'm mostly using Hatch now for digitizing.
Interesting. I have been happy just customizing my designs but now this looks so easy that I may start to think about expanding my horizons with some digitizing. I like the way it works in with Embrilliance and not a separate stand alone program.
I caved and bought SA! My truetype is not changing the texts into the different fonts selected. Does the text need to be highlighted? Also, my window does not look the same as the one in this video.
+Christi Hale This was the first release of SA so things may have changed a bit. Also, I'm not using TT fonts here - these are BX fonts. Check out the newer videos on SA in this playlist to see how TT fonts are used. The ones one embossing use TT.
Hi Lindee I have a few applique quilt patterns, that I am unable to stitch by hand nowadays.I am looking for a program, that I can import the block patterns and digitize. I need to be able to plan the design as some pieces overlap each other, have a placement stitch(outline) and then a satin stitch around the pieces. Also one pattern has blocks which are 20 inches,so will need to be able to split the design and then add the crosshairs for realignment for multible hoopings.Does this new program automatically split and add the crosshairs? I have a Brother Innovis 4000 embroidery machine,so will this new program give me the hoop dimensions that my machine has available and then let me save the file as a PES. I have search the net and youtube high and low for any videos, that show how to plan out a applique quilt block, with overlaps and placing the crosshairs but to no avail, every video seems to be about small applique designs or embroidery. I have contacted an outlet in Australia,by email and ph,but no one has answered my queries. Any information that you can give me would be very much appreciated. Thankyou for your time.
There are functions in Essentials & Enthusiast for splitting designs for different hoops. Stitch Artist is for creating designs and whether that function is included in the stand alone version, I don't know for sure but I don't think so. I have all the Embrilliance modules enabled so I really can't tell you what features are isolated to different ones. Splitting an applique gets tricky if a piece must extend over multiple hoopings. It can be done BUT - you'll have to hoop precisely and do your best to eliminate fabric distortion. I don't think I would attempt a precut applique technique if it's split. The only time I'm multihooped with applique, the applique has been contained within one hooping-but then I have a really large hoop. Ess & Enth do an amazing job of splitting but nothing beats digitizing for a split. The software has to work by rules but humans can look at the design from a different point of view and see what might work best. There's another video in this playlist that shows how to build a repeating border. I use the same technique for creating multi-hoop designs.
Hi Lindee Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply with all your advice. It is very much appreciated,I will certain look into the programs that you have mentioned.
in this demo are you using anything else but stitch artist ? I have no programs at all and was wondeirng if just stitch artist can do what you have done before I purchase.
Good question. I'm using StitchArtist as an add-on so all the other Embrilliance modules are enabled so you'll definitely see icons that aren't included in the stand-alone version. The lettering is part of Embrilliance Essentials and is the only part in this demo that might possibly not be in StitchArtist. The best place to get an answer is going to their website tinyurl.com/embrilliance101 and submitting a question through the Contact Us form. Just ask if lettering is included.
Hi Lindee. When I right click, I don't get the stitches showing on my design. They only appear when I am out of the create button and clicked on the select objects button. Am I doing something wrong?
+Sue armour Not sure… Sometimes things change in different versions. Might be something to contact tech support about if you think it's a problem. Go to the embrilliance website and to the Contact Us page.
I was having the same issue. I had the "Show/Hide Stitches button un-clicked, so that it was hiding the stitches. Once is was clicked on, the stitches were visible in SA.
StitchArtist refers to the digitizing modules in the Embrilliance platform. When you add modules to Embrilliance, it just "turns on" more features in the program. Check my website for a recent blog post: lindeegembroidery.com/what-embroidery-software-do-you-need/
There is a PDF manual to teach you how the software works but there's no tutorial for this project.I have 22 years of experience at digitizing so I just applied that knowledge to this program. I've written an ebook called Anatomy of a Design: How to Think Like a Digitizer and Become a Better Embroiderer than can help newbies. There's a free sample chapter you can download. Check the shop at LindeeGEmbroidery.com in the education area.
Thank you Lindee for checking. I really appreciate that. I can make SVG files, that is what I make for my 3D printer. But there is a LOT to learn about making art for embroidery! :)
Very true! A good embroidery design starts with good artwork and I prefer working with vectors. You still need to adapt the artwork for embroidery and how you interpret the artwork, decide on stitches, and make all the other decisions that non-digitizers don't even know about is the hard/interesting/challenging/creative/fun part of digitizing!

Thanks Lindee, I love your tutorials. Now I have a Christmas present I am truly excited about :-)

thanks a lot. I have just purchase the program! It is wonderful!
Would this software let me import an image like a photo for a embroidery design? How do I know what machines I can use this software on?
I"m a beginner and this seems a bit advanced for me. Maybe if I watch it a few times it will make more sense.
Can I change a pes design from satin stitch to buttonhole or some other stitch in embrilliance stitch artist 1?
No. Stitch Artist, like most digitizing programs, works best when modifying designs you create with it. Any hints on when it will be available for Mac?
I downloaded it yesterday. Both products went live on Black Friday.

So you said you had to "go into stitch artist". does this mean i need to buy two programs to use stitch artist? new to embroidery. Thanks

how do you know how to adjust everything you have done in this video? Are there instructions when it's purchased?

thanks
If I have downloaded the embrilliance platform, is there a way to try stichartist before purchasing?
+Christi Hale, yes! Go their website and look for the demo version. You can toggle on any of the programs but you won't be able to save anything.
+LindeeGVideos, Thank you!
+LindeeGVideos, could you perhaps send me a link? I'm not sure where to find it.
Go here: tinyurl.com/embrilliance101 and click on the Downloads page. At the top, it says "Looking for a demo" and there's a link
Thanks so much! I have played around with the software and LOVE it!!
Can you upload a vector image from another program into Stitch Artist and manipulate it? Thank-You!
Yes. It works best with SVG and you'll need level 3 to import a vector.
Will level 2 import an SVG? Thank you Lindee! :)
I just checked and it looks like it does. I have level 3 installed and I think I clicked too fast through the levels and missed it.
Thank you Lindee for checking. I really appreciate that. I can make SVG files, that is what I make for my 3D printer. But there is a LOT to learn about making art for embroidery! :)

can you import clipart and digitize it?
Yes, that's the whole idea with Stitch Artist.
