Basheer, I want to thank you and let you know you are far and away the best there is at describing the Porsches you are reviewing., Kudos Basheer. I owned three 1958 356A model Porsches, and Porsche has been my all time favorite of since the original 911 came out when I was 12 years old. I subscribed Basheer because you are an exemplary man, and expert on all things Porsche. Have a Great Year Basheer.
I daily drive a 2.9L PDK and it's my favorite car ever. I can fit two carry ons in the frunk and head to the airport, and also rip in the canyons if need be.
Please update the title with Cayman S, Thankyou for such a great video, it helps greatly with my research I have PDK in a 2017 Subaru Impreza, it’s very much a gimmick when compared with a manual. Porsche however is a whole other animal, my friend had a 2019 GT3 the PDK was incredible to use.
There is equally a strong case for the Gen 2 2.9 Cayman manual, ultimately it comes down to personal circumstances as the difference in terms of performance is not huge. I live in London with an average speed limit of 20mph so the 2.9 is more than adequate to keep up with most modern cars on the road. Generally they very good cars the 3.4 being the best for performance oriented driving, but the strong performance of the 2.9 surprised me after test driving both cars. I will be going for 981 Cayman S at some point.
Except perhaps for some iterations of the GT3 and GT4, the 987.2 is the best water cool sports car Porsche has ever made. I will keep mine as long as I can drive.
And you never will. The guy just has his facts all wrong. After all, even the 4-cylinder 718 Cayman would be lucky to get 30mpg on the highway, much less 40mpg. And 6-cylinder 987 gets even less. Honestly, I don't know where this guy is coming up with those numbers.
@@SLOBeachboy right. the manufacturer rating is a combined 23 mpg and that's under ideal conditions driving in a very mild way. and american gallons are smaller than british gallons. the best i've ever done was around 17 mpg combined.

Best looking of all cayman. Porsche 718 and 981 are more modern looking but 987 are modern classic period plus hydraulic steering bonus.
Agreed, better for the purists for sure
Agreed. 987 is the best deisgn imo. 981 is the worst, too boulbus and heavy looking. 718 is great too.
The hips on a 987 are pure perfection.
+1

Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate you watching our videos ☺️
Your video and a number of other factors prompted me to step up and buy a 2009 987.2 Base manual Cayman this week. I can't wait to bring it home!
I’m so glad you did, you will definitely enjoy it no doubt
Basheer, the 3/4 panel has always reminded me of the legendary 1956 Porsche Spyders, which was a stunning artistic and engineering masterpiece.

So glad you daily drive it. Have you put many miles on it?
@@invictusporsche Not really since I WFH and don't really drive that much, but I put about 5k miles on it!
I have one a 2011 S manual specced as a black edition , what a car I can never sell it. Another thing to note is how rare these 987.2S really were
Black Editions are very rare 👍. Also they hold value extremely well and glad to hear that you are keeping yours 😊
How long have you had yours?

These Caymans are so underrated
Agreed 👌
Excellent review on the Cayman. Love the silhouette of the 987 Cayman generation
Considering buying one but with high mileage - do they age well?
They are very well providing they have been regularly maintained
This cayman is worth buying for sure
Thank you 😊

Yes buy.
I have a 981 manual. Love it

@@mrenigma6274have read English before 😅
How is the power is it enough the 275hp of 2.9 thinking to buy one can you inform me a little
The S is 3.4L
Yup I have a2010 cayman s. Superb car.
Great choices, they are fairly reliable too

It is an amazing car considering the value for money
Here the 2 liter turbo Cayman early models cost the same as 10 - 15 and 20 year old 6 cylinder models...
Yes the 6 cylinder and hold money very well
great car but never gotten close to 31 mpg. more like 13-15.
You may need to get yours checked. You should be getting mid 20s comfortably
My 2.9 Boxster will do 31 on a run .
Mid 20's playing 🙂
I average 28 on my S 6 Speed on the freeway
