  • In this 25 minute presentation at the Prosper Meniere Society Meeting in Austria in 2023, Dr. Teixido reviews possible sites of origin of vestibular symptoms in migraine. It challenges clinicians to consider dividing symptoms into three broad groups: supratentorial, infratentorial and labyrinthine. A model is presented which emphasizes combined migraine management and augmentation of cerebellar suppression of migraine enhanced activity of the vestibular nuclei.

Thanks for the great info! As a vestibular physical therapist I do not fully agree with the dosing of the 6 min versus the 40min. Rehab approach can be attacked from various directions during a session: VOR exercises, to static/dynamic balance, visual motion habitation exercises (optokinetic), gait training with head movement incorporated. A vestibular PT knows how to have an effective workout without setting a patient over the edge. I think one great thing to discuss too, is the concept that Migraine is a like an ankle sprain. Vestibular rehabilitation by physical therapy works on the after effects of a bad vestibular migraine episode like unsteadiness, dizziness with head movement, etc. Therapy will help to improve the patient's tolerance to head movement and functional deficits, but if they have uncontrolled migraines it's like constantly spraining an ankle over and over again. The recovery cannot be fully complete, because rehab progress will be constantly hindered by the constant migraines. Working with a physician on the medication side to reduce and help eliminate migraine episodes will allow the therapy to fully work. Also eliminating triggers like diet, decreased sleep, neck tension, stress, etc can reduce migraine episodes also allowing therapy to be more effective.

Janet, I am blessed to be treating with Dr. Teixido for a vestibular migrane
. You can reach his practice by phone by calling ENT of Delaware located in Wilmington, DE. You can inquire if he is taking new patients. I live 4 hours away, but eagerly take the round trip. Patients come to him from all over the world.
God bless you and hope this helps and you find relief.

The sites that my Doctor told me to listen to were... you may already be familiar with but I'm going to share. Dizzy Cook, Dr Shay Beh sp?? He is in TX this is the Doctor my Doctor wanted me to see...He has calabs with Dizzy Cook. I then found Physical Therapist podcast Talk Dizzy To Me, VERY HELPFUL one of these PT I believe is in FL. it might be worth a phone call. Their podcast is where I found Dr MT. I REALLY liked that he wants to know what part of brain misfiring...I really hope to get answers as to why and where not just migraine take this!! Then podcasts rolled into Migraine World Summit, Migraine association etc More & More VALUABLE info Dr MT sharing...idk but Maybe the Migraine association might have list of doctors...its sure worth a call!! Migraine world summit is where I found MT…I email the summit and they sent suggestions not endorsements. Both bombed. They didn’t get it and they don’t get 3PD or autonomic disorders.. I have nOH thats affecting my digestive system and the nOH is awful. I’m going for my first IV infusion treatment tomorrow for that because my body does not tolerate and medications without severe reactions. I’m saddened that my family has turned away from me. It’s just my husband and me alone for 2 years😘💔😢

Please hold on with your family. I feel like I've experienced some of that, as I've been told "you always have something, whats wrong with you" it hurts deeply when you've sought help over and over, yr after yr with no help, only to be patted on your head and sent on your way. I will ask the LORD to make a way where there seems to be no way. You are NOT alone, and we (my Beloved husband & I) will lift you to the LORD. May you find a caring knowledgeable doctor to help you & may healing follow swiftly!! From my heart to yours Tj 🙏
