Hey there, that's very interesting how walking takes you to another level, even walking after meal change and helps the metabolism, I'm a big walker almost like Forest Gamp;) I also like to walk late night where the stars are brightening above giving another special spectrum or early in the morning towards the rising sun full of new energy for a new day, where just after words to have a good appetite for healthy breakfast. I don't really count the steps rather hours, but I must say that it's great that you are inspiring other people.. I have had GI and bloating problems for many years. I was diagnosed with SIBO and take a motility drug which helps, but I STILL had bloating until I recently tried Atrantil which was developed by a gastroenterologist to treat methane SIBO and also just anyone who experiences bloating, GI discomfort and/or changes in bowel habits and it's completely natural. After taking 2 pills 30 minutes before meals for a week, my bloating was gone. I still take it but am going to titrate down to a maintenance level at some point. It's been a miracle for me. Not only for bloating, but also for healthy "bowel habits", which I had not experienced in so long that I just thought it was my new normal. Anyway... just wanted to share that. I've also read the Dr. Peter Attias book and thought it was great! I'm buying that skin, book, as well. Thank you for sharing.
I am reading the Joy ofMovement while I am walking. And using my local library with Libby app! I just watched you eating in a day and I have got to try chocolate oatmeal. I have cacao and unflavored collagen so going to try that. Thanks!

Hi Robin, thank you so much for these recommendations. I have read (usually listen to) some of your books. In particular, 'The Expectation Effect', is as you say it is an enlightening read. One of my main problems is that I buy and read books, but fall off the wagon, so to speak, on following through with the implementations. I am just about to buy "No Bad Parts', of all the books that one today was shouting my name. Yesterday I was in such a rut, (and procrastinating in every area of my life) that I watched a RUclips video on Brian Tracey's 'Eat the Frog'. Just that little shift in mindset meant that this morning I have already eaten my frog. As I am sure that you are aware the main point that Tracey makes is to do the most important job (frog) first thing in the day and it will have a positive impact on one's life. So true! This is why I usually am reading 3-4 books at once. They all serve a different purpose (eg. inspirational, informational) and I select which book will address my needs on any particular day. I still haven't read "Skin in the Game" even though I am very familiar with the concept. I will add it to my list! Thanks :)
I've only got time to add my top book tonight, but will add some more later. "Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall. No book (not even David Goggins...and he inspires me a ton), like this book. Science, history, insights, all wrapped around an unbelievable story that you can't put down. I finished the book, and immediately read it again, and again. I read it 4 times in the first week, and 10 times in the first year. Then I bought 20 copies and gave them out to family & friends for Christmas. Definite life changer.
There are many books out there on the topic of diet, lifestyle and health - and I have read many of them. But I found that the one book that condenses the most important topics on health and gets it right, is the book "Perfect Health Diet' by Paul Jaminet and his wife. Now, 10 years on since first reading this book, my own knowledge on the topic of diet and health has grown immensly - thru reading other books, studying evolution of the genus Homo, learning about the ways of hunter gatherers etc - whenever I reread this book, I realise they get all the topics spot on! ATB, Gerlach Sven.
Hi Gerlach! Thank you so much for sharing this recommendation. I haven’t read this book and am adding to my list! It’s pretty special when a book continues to feel relevant through the decades. Excited to read it. x Robin
I also have this book on my shelf. I find the PHD is almost a reference book you can go back to again and again. Even ten years on, the book is still has great value. Their PHD blog which, last I checked he keeps available even though it is no longer updated regularly, dovetails nicely with the book. The comments section is full of valuable discussions.
To add to the list: Why We Get Sick, by Ben Bikman and Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker. Also, This Naked Mind by Annie Grace - which helped me immensely when I quit drinking.
Love the variety of books you have! Downloading “The Expectation Effect” now! Recommend anything Dan Sullivan. Currently listening to “The Gap and the Gain” and I think it can benefit anyone and everyone.
I'll add, not a book, but Peter Attia first came to my attention when I was watching "Limitless" with Chris Hemsworth on Disney Plus - it's a six episode series and Peter is in the first two. Yes, Chris is a freak of nature, but that doesn't take away from how moving it is, and how it makes you think about your own life and future. Highly, highly recommended.
Not a recent book but a classic of alternative thinking: Finite and Infinite Games by James Carse It fosters a shift in viewpoint that admittedly must partly be there already in order to understand the book in the first place. No practical advice like most on your list but works on general principles. Once read you won't forget it.
Thank you for sharing! I really love books about general principles, like the books by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. They always seem to blow my mind in a very fundamental way. I’m familiar with the concept of “infinite vs finite games” but haven’t read this yet. Excited to dig in!
6:50 I am so looking forward to your take on visualisation and manifestation. For some reason I feel you have a very positive, practical and logical take on these subjects. I can't wait for that video. In mean time, I ordered it and now on my way to read it. Good luck for the video. Right now I am trying to manifest your video on this subject ;-)
It is so funny that you comment this because this is on my list of videos to come and I was doing research for it yesterday. I suppose you’ve manifested it. Hahaha
@@TheScienceofSelfCare but seriously looking forward to it eagerly! You are the best and belated congratulations on your oura ring engagement, although I am saying it with a very heavy and jealous heart 😋
Thanks so much for these suggestions! I just recently found your channel and I’m loving it. You have a soothing voice and a sweet encouraging spirit that motivates me to be kind to myself while working to become the best me I can be. ❤
Aw this makes me so incredibly happy. I really believe we can continuously improve from a place of self-love and self-respect. “Performance through balance” is what I’ve been focusing on. 🤍
I read of a lot these but also discovered some great suggestions. I really like your concise summary of these books! My Favorite are Atomic Habits, Slight Edge. I would recommend to you: 1. The courage to be disliked 2. Four Thousand Weeks.
Dropping many of these in my "books to buy" wish list. Thanks for the recommendation. Also, and I hope this doesn't come off weird and I mean this respectfully and simply to pay a compliment... you are incredibly attractive. Your knowledge coupled with such an inspiring and caring soul AND such an obvious inner and outer beauty is extremely captivating. Whoever you will call a partner in life will be a very lucky person. 🥰 (ps: A GREAT book I recently finished about understanding trauma is "What Happened to You". Really enjoyed it!)

Great list of books period...some interesting ones I haven't heard of before either that I think would help me a lot ..thanks for putting this list and quick summary together 🙏🏼
Great list! I've "consumed" many of these as well - Annie Duke's books are life changers and I'd highly recommend them to anyone. Another one you may want to consider from Bill Bryson is "A Short History of Almost Everything", really brilliant and he narrates the Audio version, which is an extra treat.
It’s fiction, but “redshirts” by John Scalzi reignited my love of fiction recently and got me reading more in general (also shutting down my laptop and shoving it in my closet 😆).
Yes! Thanks for sharing some fiction as well! It’s about time I *ignited* this for myself. I loved the book The Rosie Project and some mystery / Sci-fi :)
Spark by John Ratey realllllly got me into a new mindset for daily movement and just how benefial it is to just MOVE. will forever be a changed person after that book. will 100% give some of these a read, thanks!
Thank you very much. Some book suggestions in return for yours. Flourish by Antonia Case - a beautiful book on figuring yourself out through travel and philosophy, Antonia takes you through her journey when she realised that she did not want to be who she was. Buy yourself the F*cking Lilies - Tara Schuster - brilliant story of self-evolution, encourages taking action and measuring results rather than just saying no it won't work. The Art of Discarding by Nagisa Tatsumi and Goodbye, things by Fumio Sasaki - both beautiful reads if you are interested in minimalism or decreasing your attachment to 'stuff'. The Art of Frugal Hedonism - a nice read on how to live your life well on a budget. From your list I did not really vibe with Essentialism. I thoroughly enjoyed Atomic habits
Thank you so much for sharing!! I haven’t read any of these. Gold mine. 🌟 Interestingly, I can completely understand why you didn’t vibe with Essentialism. In some cases, I did not agree with his points, but I still found it overall a very useful mindset shift. This was a book that I “took with a grain of salt”. :)
What a great list! I’ve read a few of these, but now I have a new, must-read book list for 2024. Two of my favorite books I recommend are ‘Happier Now’ and ‘The Awesome Human Project’ by Nataly Kogan. By the way, I found your channel by reading your wonderful ‘I Walked 20k Steps a Day for a Month. The Results Transformed Me’ article on Newsweek. Subscribed! 🧡☺️
Thank you for sharing! I haven’t read either of those books. 📚 And welcome to the channel, John! 👋 let me know if there are any topics you’d love to see covered on here. :)
I'm 25% into the video but took my time to stop and comment about how high-quality are the books presented here are [been looking to read some of them for a while] and how good they are presented. The idea to use marketing tricks on yourself is genius and I haven't thought of it before. Makes my neurons sparkle with happiness ^^
Awww thanks for your sweet comment! It makes my day. :) books are just so awesome! I want to make a part 2 to this. Any books you’ve been loving recently??
@@TheScienceofSelfCare As I'm dedicating most of the time this year to self-actualization and mental/emotional/physical healing books are my best friends and guides on this path. I got a huge read list and from what I recently read I loved Ultramind Solutions, Radical Honesty, Emotional Intelligence, The Four Agreements, Power vs Force. I'm still in awe how big of an impact books can have on life, consciousness, understanding of yourself/others etc. Ended up with adding 7 books from the video to my read list. Hope I'll get some time left to implement learned knowledge :D
@@vladyslav_patsiuk thank you for sharing! I haven’t read several of those books; adding them to my list immediately! Radical honesty has been on my radar for a while - time to dig in :) Thanks again 🙏🙏

you are a wonderful human being, just the list i need to inspire me to read for self- development again, thank you for sharing these great sources of knowledge and inspiration! i'll have to check them out on my next visit to the bookstore :)
I took time off from buying books mainly because latest ones did not gave me enough value for the money spent. However with this video at least 3 caught my interest and I will invest again. thank you Robin for great video and information you share with us! ❤️
Thanks for sharing! Out of curiosity, which three? I agree there are SO many books out there. I often don’t finish books if they feel like they’re not going to deliver any further value.
Esentialism, The Bad Parts and Joy of movement. Already downloaded kindle samples and will purchase them asap. Thank you, I really enjoy your content and science info behind every single claim!
I just finished listening to "The Comfort Crisis" by Michael Easter, currently listening to another of his books "Scarcity Brain". Also listened to "Death by Comfort" by Paul Taylor earlier this year which is in a similar vein to Easter's book, both worth a listen/read. Thanks for all the suggestions too, I've read quite a few of them but you've given me some to add to my reading list :)
Brad Stulberg has a couple of books in the resilience/life performance space: the Practice of Groundedness and Master of Change. I haven't read Master of Change but Groundedness was quite good! (It also got blurbed by David Epstein and Kelly McGonigal for that that's worth!)
Greetings! Thank you for the suggestions. I recently read Atomic Habits and it was a game changer for me. Personal fav that changed me as well is The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama. That book got me through a dark time and helped me realize my happiness comes from within. Wish you well in all your endeavors and thank you for being you! 🙏
Thanks for sharing … love your list ! I have a few of them and will definitely be adding the others to my book list. My personal favourite this year is Psycho-cybernetics which you had in your bonus list. Another book I recently read was The Checklist by Atul Gawande - loved it and have reintroduced checklists back into my life. Power vs Force is another interesting book by David Hawkins. Breath by James Nestor was great book - why we should always breath through our nose. Another favourite that changed my life was Coming Alive by Barry Michels and Phil Stutz.
Mostly yes! I am addicted to audiobooks + walking! I absorb the information much better that way. :) Thanks for your suggestion-I’ll think about more audiobook content!
Amazing video as always and amazing list too. The creative act by Rick Rubin is one of my favorite books ever and Rick is an inspiration to me. I also think Antifragile is one of the best books ever written. Although my favorite book ever is the blank slate by Steven Pinker.
Thank-you for all these recommendations, I've added a handful to my reading list. I'm especially interested in "The Beauty of Dirty Skin". Have you read "The Sweetness of a Simple Life" by Diana Beresford-Kroeger or "Braiding Sweetgrass" by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Both are written by scientists who weave ancient wisdom into their teachings. Beautiful reads.
You may want to start with The Surrender Experiment by the same author, which is more about the story of his life and how he used/discovered the principles in The Untethered Soul.
I saw book in the title I clicked I am silly bookworm :) Can't even imagine my life without reading daily Cause, some things truly morph you into something better Peace 🕊️
SAME! I just did a run through of the book “When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing” by Daniel Pink in my latest video. Another good one! 📚🧡 Do you have any favorites you’d recommend to others? I’m always looking to add to my book list :)

accidentally discovered your channel by looking for reviews of a face mask 😅 but oh damn love your content! saved all of these books ❤ was looking for a good read for a while
Peter Attias Outlive was the best book I've read in some time. Just finished it, hungry for more. He briefly referenced "Comfort Crisis", by Michael Easter. I am very much enjoying that right now. Inspirational for people wanting to get outside and stretch thier limits. The Story of the Human Body by Daniel Lieberman is an interesting look at human evolution. One Simple Thing by Eddie Stern changed my life dramatically. It was my first introduction to the concept of what I am (ie I am not my thoughts, my emotions, or even my body). He explains the science behind yoga and the nervous system. It doesn't read as easily as a book like Attia's, but it had a profound impact on me. Healthy at 100 by John Robbins isn't as scientific as Attia's, but it's full of common sense and very inspirational. I tried Untethered Soul but disliked it so much that I felt worse rather than better while reading it and put it down. I have read many yoga philosophy books, this one, in my opinion, is terrible.
Wow these all sound so good! I think we may have very similar taste in books. I’m literally going to download three of these today 😅 …my book list is officially bursting at the seams. 🤍🤍🤍
After getting confused by numerous training programs and disheartening with high cost of personal trainers, I ran across RUclipsr who recommended "Weight Lifting Is a Waste of Time" by Dr. John Jaquish. Some of the world's most elite athletes follow the advice of Dr. John Jaquish including the Miami Heat organization, national olympians, NFL players and NBA players, along with famous celebrities such as Syvester Stalone and Tony Robins.
I do not-but I really should get on there! I love Goodreads and have been a passive consumer for a while. I think I’m intimidated by the idea of publicly giving every book a rating. Hehe
I enjoyed this one thank you. The Diary of CEO 33 Laws of Business and Life by Steven Bartlett is amazing. Just came out about a month ago and is brilliant
The King James Bible will transform you more than any other book. Romans 12:2 KJV - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
The best book that you will read is ME, so yes to marrying me and let's go on a deep dive of exploring new worlds together. Robert cialdini is vouching for me.
I will Say the quran first, and i like the book of the art of letting go , the secret, the magic they all great Books, and if you need some story to enjoy i will recommend a song of ice and fire
just fyi Attia is a surgeon and doesn't even know what he doesn't know when it comes to nutrition, really just reckless for him to opine about it, probably harmed a lot of people with his non evidence based opinions
I understand this perspective - thanks for sharing! I did find that (overall) he made good points based on literature. At certain times he was a tad contradictory (against epidemiology at one moment but then also using it at other moments). That said, I think it’s still one of the better health books out there at the moment. :)
His general ideas and emphasis that we need more prevention and early intervention are spot on and much needed, but his ideas for going about that are poorly researched to put it nicely, especially with regard to nutrition. He (like most MDs) are grossly under qualified to talk about nutrition, and have a fundamental conflict of interest when it comes to actually addressing the causes of many diseases. It's a lot more than a tad contradictory that he writes a book about prevention and then pretty much disregards the most impactful tool we have. @@TheScienceofSelfCare
More than a tad contradictory imo, he wrote a book about prevention and improving public health then pretty much disregards one of the most impactful tools we have. And what little advice he does give is poorly researched. Very possible he will harm more people than help because of that. That said his initial premise is really spot on, we really do need to focus more on prevention and catching things early. @@TheScienceofSelfCare
Thanks for sharing. Regardless of whether these specific individuals have mental health issues, I have read many GREAT books by people with mental health issues. In fact, they’re some of my favorites. I think books are a way to understand a new perspective and it’s up to us to take what’s relevant and weave it into our own lives. I am in no way going to go on a crazy workout binge after reading Goggins books but I do feel inspired to be more proactive when it comes to making my dreams come true. To me, it’s all about cherry picking and learning from different perspectives. :)

To add to the list: Why We Get Sick, by Ben Bikman and Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker. Also, This Naked Mind by Annie Grace - which helped me immensely when I quit drinking.
Thank you so much I have been searching everywhere for a list of inspiring life changing books! I really appreciate you and your awesome videos!
You’re so welcome :) glad this was helpful in some way! Happy new year ❤️✨💫
Love the variety of books you have! Downloading “The Expectation Effect” now! Recommend anything Dan Sullivan. Currently listening to “The Gap and the Gain” and I think it can benefit anyone and everyone.
Thanks to you, I’m a Dan Sullivan convert! Really enjoying “10x is easier than 2x”-thanks for the recs, Rachel 🧡
Great recomandations. I will be busy for a couple of weeks with the books I have not read yet. Thank you
🧡 Luckily, we are now getting into cozy book season! ✨
Not a recent book but a classic of alternative thinking:
Finite and Infinite Games by James Carse
It fosters a shift in viewpoint that admittedly must partly be there already in order to understand the book in the first place.
This is an amazing list! Thank you for sharing. 👏🏽
Haven’t read either!! Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🤍
Such a great list! Thanks for all the recommendations.
(ps: A GREAT book I recently finished about understanding trauma is "What Happened to You". Really enjoyed it!)
That’s very very sweet! I appreciate the kind words ❤️
And I haven’t heard of “What Happened to You”-adding it to my list right now! 🙏
thanks for sharing ✨
@@TheScienceofSelfCare oh one other thing…Did you use affiliate links for the links you shared? I ask because not sure if after adding to my wish list that affiliate link “sticks” so if they’re not affiliate links no biggie but if they are I want to come back to your links so you get a little payment for the recommendation. I recently replaced all the links with affiliate links. I suppose I should clearly disclose that above-I’ll add to the description. :)

is the podcast still going? just discovered your channel a couple weeks ago and have binged through a lot of it including your podcast. would love more episodes! you rock!
Aw thank you! 🙏✨🤍 I’m planning on releasing a new season of the podcast in the new year-I have some fun ideas! :) if there are any topics you’d love to see covered, let me know!!
Great list of books period...some interesting ones I haven't heard of before either that I think would help me a lot ..thanks for putting this list and quick summary together 🙏🏼
My pleasure-enjoy!! 📚📖😊
Gold mine. 🌟
Interestingly, I can completely understand why you didn’t vibe with Essentialism.
And welcome to the channel, John!
Radical honesty has been on my radar for a while - time to dig in :)
Thanks again 🙏🙏
@@TheScienceofSelfCare Currently I don't have a single soul in my life with similar interests to have a conversation about books, so this small random conversation is something very precious to me.
Thank you too!
you are a wonderful human being, just the list i need to inspire me to read for self- development again, thank you for sharing these great sources of knowledge and inspiration! i'll have to check them out on my next visit to the bookstore :)
Aw thank you so much! Wishing you a lovely next trip to the bookstore! Meandering around in there is one of the best ways to spend an evening 📚☺️✨
@@Auroraswolfpackyou can borrow books from your local library for free 😊
I just finished listening to "The Comfort Crisis" by Michael Easter, currently listening to another of his books "Scarcity Brain". Also listened to "Death by Comfort" by Paul Taylor earlier this year which is in a similar vein to Easter's book, both worth a listen/read.
Thanks for all the suggestions too, I've read quite a few of them but you've given me some to add to my reading list :)
Oohh I've heard several people talk about "The Comfort Crisis"- time to add this to my list! Thanks for the recs :)
Brad Stulberg has a couple of books in the resilience/life performance space: the Practice of Groundedness and Master of Change. I haven't read Master of Change but Groundedness was quite good! (It also got blurbed by David Epstein and Kelly McGonigal for that that's worth!)
Ohhh this sounds right up my alley. I’m always a fan of a good life performance read! Thank you for sharing 🙏😊
Appreciate the kind words!
I haven’t read the Art of Happiness-thanks for your recommendation. I look forward to reading it 😊
Finallyy been waiting for a video!! Thanks Robin!!!
Untamed, the untethered soul, the surrender experiment
Thanks for sharing! I haven’t read any of these yet-so excited. :)
Thanks a lot for your video! my pick is The Power of Now
Yes!! I still haven’t read it, which is perhaps surprising since I loved a New Earth! It’s on my list for this winter 🙏✨🥰 thank you
This is such a great list. Thanks so much 😊
Great list. Going to take me a while to get though all of them but here we go
Haha here we go!!
The only way I’ve been able to read so many books recently is my walking + audiobook obsession. 🥰
very nice content...all are really good books
Thanks for sharing … love your list ! I have a few of them and will definitely be adding the others to my book list. My personal favourite this year is Psycho-cybernetics which you had in your bonus list. Another book I recently read was The Checklist by Atul Gawande - loved it and have reintroduced checklists back into my life. Power vs Force is another interesting book by David Hawkins. Breath by James Nestor was great book - why we should always breath through our nose. Another favourite that changed my life was Coming Alive by Barry Michels and Phil Stutz.
Oh great recommendations! Currently reading Breath :)
Coming Alive sounds interesting. 🙏 thanks for sharing!
I love listening to audiobooks. Did you listen to all of these as audiobooks? Would love more contents on audiobooks ❤
Mostly yes! I am addicted to audiobooks + walking! I absorb the information much better that way. :)
Thanks for your suggestion-I’ll think about more audiobook content!
Thanks for the recommendations! Maybe You Should Talk To Someone by Lori Gottlieb is a fantastic book I recently read.
Ooh nice! I’m adding it to my list. Haven’t read this one yet. Thank you 🙏
Amazing video as always and amazing list too. The creative act by Rick Rubin is one of my favorite books ever and Rick is an inspiration to me. I also think Antifragile is one of the best books ever written. Although my favorite book ever is the blank slate by Steven Pinker.
🤍 I haven’t read Blank Slate yet! Looks amazing. Thanks you for this great recommendation. Downloading it right now!
Recommend ' Hear Yourself by Prem Rawat'
Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video. Thanks
thank you for making this books list. I wish you have a great life
Aw right back at you 🤍
Thank-you for all these recommendations, I've added a handful to my reading list.
Ohh I haven’t read either! They sound very interesting. Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🤍
The Holistic Guide to Gut Health by Mark Stengler.
Would anyone know anything about neuropathy and nerve damage?
Great video and great books
Have you read the book ‘the untethered soul’ by Michael Singer?
If so what are you thoughts on it?
I would love to know
Love the recommendations ❤
I have not, but I’ve heard the book name come up so many times! It’s officially on my list for November. 🤍🙏 thanks for the recommendation ✨
You may want to start with The Surrender Experiment by the same author, which is more about the story of his life and how he used/discovered the principles in The Untethered Soul.
Thank you so much.
I saw book in the title I clicked
I am silly bookworm :)
Can't even imagine my life without reading daily

SAME! I just did a run through of the book “When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing” by Daniel Pink in my latest video. Another good one! 📚🧡

Aww welcome to this corner of RUclips 👋 if there’s anything you’d love to see on this channel, let me know!
I recommend a life changing book "The Untethered Soul" by Michael Singer
How many hours a day do you spend reading?
I read or listen to books anywhere from 20 minutes a day to 3 hours if I’m on a walking + audiobook binge. 🥰
What about you??
I’m literally going to download three of these today 😅
…my book list is officially bursting at the seams. 🤍🤍🤍
wonderfulll , thank you so much
Atomic habits
Eat Like a Human, by Dr. Bill Schindler. Friggin amazing. Archaeologist.
Wow that sounds like such an interesting read! Thank you for sharing-I’m going to download this ASAP

F*ck Happiness by Ariel Gore was the best book I've read this year. ♥

just fyi Attia is a surgeon and doesn't even know what he doesn't know when it comes to nutrition, really just reckless for him to opine about it, probably harmed a lot of people with his non evidence based opinions
@@TheScienceofSelfCare
i don't understand why the hell you are so beautiful😑
borlest - secret strategy to get taller (thank me later)
Good grief. Attial and Goggins Angry, fanatics with serious mental health issues.
