ETNA PARKRUN

Drew K Forrest, occasional international public-transport parkrun tourist goes to Etna parkrun #134 in Nicolosi, Catania; Sicily, Italy! One of the most beautiful parkruns out there, with views across Sicily and Mount Etna, and the many surrounding volcanic peaks, one of which this parkrun runs around the crater of!
I highly recommend visiting, though I don’t believe it usually has such a slow start or lack of competitive runners; I trundled along with ‘Di Mauro Domenico’ until he kindly insisted I run on ahead to pick up, my first and only, first place token! As far as I can tell, my result on this day is possibly the slowest ever 1st place finish at Etna parkrun.
These people, all who volunteered and participate, were delightful, and I can’t thank them enough for hosting such a wonderful morning, and arranging the beautiful, clear skies! (It could have been a bit warmer though)
