Heaton Park is next on my list. Have run at Bushy it was incredible, although the reality was that I couldn't hear the briefing. None of these parkruns do you do if you're in a hurry.
I came from Perth, Australia for an ultra marathon in England. Had time for only one parkrun and so it had to be Bushy Park. It was quite a journey via public transport to get there. It was amazing to see so many runners. I even got a shout out for coming such a long way during the run briefing.
I've attended Poole Parkrun once. It was summer 2019 and there was around 650. The finishing funnel was so long and so many encouraging supporters. Watching this eating my porridge before parkrun 😂
So excited to see so many South African parkruns here! Ours at Pretoria National Botanical gardens also often hits over 1000 runners. My sister does the Route 44 run in wine country!!
Yes we have about 4 parkruns about 20kms from where I stay, so we get to choose different 1 each week, done 35 already🚶♀️🚶♂️🚶♀️🚶♂️🚶♀️🚶♂️🚶♀️🚶♂️🚶♂️🚶♂️👍
Yes we do!! It brings us together and it’s for free! We have good weather and beautiful sites. Also the Vitality points - as someone already mentioned...
yes! great idea! I think most of the smallest in the world are in Australia and New Zealand, but a video on smallest in the UK would also be great. One of my 2020 running goals is to visit the UK's smallest (public) parkrun, which last I checked is Girvan Prom in Scotland - average of 29-30 runners per week!
Incredible numbers, and they're just the averages! Makes me wonder what the actual highest recorded attendances are at those parkruns. Must be staggering. Big shout out to all parkrun volunteers everywhere!
If you go the each Parkrun web page you will see the record attendance at the bottom of the page with other statistics. My home run is Golden Harvest Parkrun which is sixth on this list and our record is 1,503. Delta Park ( Johannesburg) which was the first in South has a record of 2,130. It is surprising that Delta is not in this list as, since it’s inception, it has averaged 755.1 runners.
A local record of 2527 parkrunners at North Beach parkrun 2 years ago. Since opening 2 further events within 3.5 km of this iconic event on Durban's Golden Mile, attendance figures have dropped and now range between only 1600 and 1800. The 2 new parkruns are Durban Point and Blue Lagoon and they usually attract fields of between 200 to 300 each.
I started running a few months ago and am a regular at Southampton, we had 1612 runners last week and just short of 1400 today. Great to be part of it & lovely to see it featured on The Running Channel.
Another South African here! Very proud of the parkrun community in our country. I've done North Beach, Route 44, Richards Bay, Umhlanga, Shongweni, Durbanville and Vredendal parkruns. Loved them all.
I live in South Africa. Parkrun are extremely popular. I know of some runners who have done just under 400 parkruns. I only started last year and have clocked up 44 parkruns. I have done 7 different venues. The most popular one I have done is Rietvlei. (Reed Marshes.) The last one I did there had exactly 1100 participants and a couple of weeks ago they hit over 1500.
Cannon Hill, Birmingham is pretty big. Almost too big given the route crosses sustrians...hopefully we will get another location so we can split the people and make it better for other park users.
Hello I’m from Cape Town South Africa, I would like to a list of the UK’s most beautiful ParkRun’s. I try avoid ones with to many people. My new home Run is Bridgetown under 150 runners most of the time and I LOVE IT!
Loved that you showed our Parkrun at Golden Harvest, South Africa and I even saw myself on the footage. I learnt that the record for a parkrun is under 14 minutes and I was flabbergasted! Double as quick as my best time. Thanks for the video!
Park Run's popularity in South Africa has a lot to do with Bruce Fordyce's involvement. Bryonston and Golden Harvest PR are only about 10km from each other and each is about 10km from Delta PR which has an ave attendance each week of about 750. All three are also at altitude of about 1700m above sea level
Sounds like a new challenge to visit all 10 in 2020!! As ever, great video, watching it before my parkrun Saturday, and hopefully see you at the Running Show!
I really liked how you considered the world rather than just the UK. Whilst I also loved the 5 quickest and 5 toughest parkruns they only considered the UK. Many people now use parkrun as a means to exploring the world, not that I'm saying that you organise a holiday just to do parkrun but you organise a holiday and try and fit a parkrun in. It was great to see you do something along these lines when visiting Jersey although it was just a day trip, so very little exploring involved. I'd love to see a video showing iconic parkrun tourist destinations. For example Crissy Field (San Francisco, running under the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge and within eyeshot of Alcatraz. Or Cieszyn (Poland/Czech Republic), the only parkrun to cross an International border. Fountains Abbey (Yorkshire) on a UNESCO world heritage site etc.
Coming from SA, it's really amazing to see how popular it is here! Living in Durban now so when it's open will give the north beach run a go when lockdown is eased. One Parkrun that sadly didn't make it but is definitely one of the most beautiful is the one along the beachfront in Port Elizabeth. It is very flat and runs around the local dolphin pod, in summer you might also see humpback whales breaching while they come up from the Antarctic to breed.
Ah I do Poole when visiting my boyfriend... Lots of slipping around the corners and nearly felt I was going to blow in the lake from Storm Dennis the other week! Loveeeee your channel xx
I've been to a few on the list. Truth be told, I did not pay attention to the number of people in the field. I think you only notice this if you're starting from the middle or back of the crowd. Lovely video! I'm on my way to becoming a parkrun tourist and this is the year I get to 20+ different parkrun venues.
I've knocked off two of these. Greenpoint is fantastic! Flat and fast and very spacious. Those of us in the lower midfield have lots of space to maneuver. Century City is very beautiful (and has a pretty great breakfast spot next door!). It's super narrow though, so you get boxed in very easily. There's a stretch on to a parking apron where the field explodes out to get some overtaking done before the path narrows back onto single track.
Poole is my regular, it’s popular because it’s pretty much flat and good for speed, we had 1340 New Year’s Day, over 1000 last week and just under this week
I did Warrnambool in 2017 and there was 58 runners. That was really nice. Accidently did Milton Keynes recently on their 10th birthday (didn't realise) and there was over 1200. Too much congestion. Did Whistler in Canada with 21 runners. That was really good.
North Beach was my first and still the most runs there. You did the UK top 5 toughest. You should do the top 10 international toughest. I'm pretty sure you will have a few from SA. Westville is my home run. I'm about 7 minutes off my PB of 22 there.
And to think the North Beach parkrun used to be even bigger. They have now opened up 2 additional parkruns, one 1km south on the same promenade and one about 3kms north to keep the congestion down.
Planning on Bushy this year. You do wonder if some of the larger runs need a brother/sister close by to make it more manageable. Some can’t deal with the 600+ they sometime now get. Stone house, went from 60 to 400 for new year, not be run since due to condition of the grounds
Chris Hierons I used to run Mile End Park in London and they get several hundred now - it’s small paths so it’s really unmanageable and I don’t go anymore for that reason
Southampton was my first parkrun! Nice course will have to try to vet back there to try for a pb at some point. But yes its a rather busy one compared to my local ones.
I’m just going to say what many of us are thinking - this channel has single handedly boosted parkrun numbers. My local parkrun has gone from 400+ to 600+ and now you’re telling us about other Parkruns we should add to our bucket list. I hope you’ll sit and think about what you’ve done .
TBF they are not the only ones :) But that said I do prefer to see more of a focus on parkrun being a local community event and not really happy with encouraging a great deal of unnecessary travel.
Hi I do the Century City Park run most weeks. We had 1351 runners past Saturday. I have also done Green point 1 a few times. Thanks for the recognition.
I notice that you left out some of the big South African parkruns. Not included in your list - Botanical Gardens, Reitvlei and Delta all over 1000 average in 2019 and Bellville and Gilloolys both over 800.
A close definition of insanity is doing North Beach Parkrun the day before the Comrades Marathon, close to 2000 turn up (perhaps more, haven't looked at the figures), many of whom do another 17-18 parkruns the next morning. Officially done that twice (forgot the barcode the third time, naughty naughty), by the time I leave the walkers are about to tack onto the long line to get a finish recorded.
If you like wine you need to check out Mole Valley parkrun. It takes place at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking. It's a stunning course, options to eat, shower and change. Super charge your day by booking a wine tasting tour afterwards :)
Poole parkrun is my local 😁 I ran there a few days ago. I say local, it’s one of two as Upton House parkrun is roughly same distance for me and then it’s a cross between tarmac and flat (Poole) and the hillier trail run (Upton House).
I enjoy Meyer's Farm parkrun in South Africa as it is very scenic. You run through horse paddocks but its quite challenging as it is cross country and hilly. I used to do Victoria Lake parkrun but it's very flat and boring, however its s bit more wheelchair friendly and we need those so people with disability can also enjoy a parkrun
Hoping to do the Penrith parkrun in June since my wife and I will be there visiting from North Carolina in the US this summer. I wish we had a program like this in the US. Wonder why not?
Sad there weren't any from Australia! I know loads of people who Parkrun here, I'm moving to London in a few weeks so keen to see if I can PB in the colder weather 😅

I'm guessing this may have been suggested in here but how about smallest too? Maybe UK and then another for worldwide (as I'm sure a large majority of your viewers are all UK based). I know some are in prisons so maybe avoid those purely because they're not accessible but would be great and potentially boost numbers if you were able to give coverage to some of the smaller, lesser known parkruns. (I'll be running this week at a run which had an attendance of 44 last week!) Thanks, Scott.
Last month average at York Parkrun is around 700. It is getting really popular probably because it is really flat and fast! Hope to see you here one day and maybe have a run together!
I have run the Durban PR but not knowingly. When I was there four years ago, I stayed in a hotel that list on the course. One evening, I went out for a run (as you do) along that strand and back. Very pleasant with the Indian Ocean next to you. I don't understand why times and positions are recorded and records set for Park Runs, as I was quite categorically told by the organisers, that Park Runs are not races???? How about doing a video on the worst Park Run? That is of course Woodley in Reading.
Seems lik som r surprised that South Africa leads d list, but remember, we hav d greatest race on earth in SA, comrades, and 2021 will be the 100 year anniversary of comrades. I started running because of parkrun and have since completed 2 comrades.. Thank u parkrun
North Beach has two routes. the north route is shown on the video. The south route is used mostly. Thank you for featuring our parkrun. Please drop us a line at northbeach@parkrun.com! Regards Richard (Event Director)

Christél Jordaan I absolutely love Route 44, I’ve only been there once because it’s quite far.
Iain Hamish Stuart Forbes I haven’t done it yet but will definitely have to when I visit my sister again!
Today I learnt that South Africa love a parkrun
Craig Hammond they do indeed!

Southampton had 1600 last week 😮
I prefer smaller low key ones of around 100 people or less.
Mine one has like 10 people
How about the least popular? Give them some love!
yes! great idea! I think most of the smallest in the world are in Australia and New Zealand, but a video on smallest in the UK would also be great.
One of my 2020 running goals is to visit the UK's smallest (public) parkrun, which last I checked is Girvan Prom in Scotland - average of 29-30 runners per week!

great video idea. i was thinking the same!
Yer maybe the smallest avarge attendance for the general public
@@swimrunmatt our local parkrun in Australia gets 300ish runners weekly. I think there are a lot in canada and usa that get less than 100

Watching this before my parkrun, how fitting!
Nearly watched it during Coventry parkrun however it was a bit too busy for that...
Did my first parkrun this morning at Curl Curl Sydney with over 500 runners.
I went to Southampton last week when they hit a record attendance of 1612! I even managed a shiny new PB. Hoping to get to Bushy this year too. 🤞🏼
Am in Worthing and am not doing any park runs

Top 10 most beautiful parkruns next please
I expect some of North Wales' parkruns to feature here 😁
I did the first ever one at Bala which only had around 70 people. Huge contrast to my local one in Market Harborough which gets around 450 people.
Durban North Parkrun had 1688 participants today. Rietvlei had 830 plus. Homestead Dam Parkrun which I did this morning had 380 participants.
Really odd to think that some parkruns get hundreds of runners each week. My local one averages 56 people.

@@normadicn5700 It was. The volunteers were magnificent.
Last month average at York Parkrun is around 700. It is getting really popular probably because it is really flat and fast! Hope to see you here one day and maybe have a run together!
I did my first Park Run in SA, but hadnt even known about them beforehand, did one in Cape Town, but none on the list XD
I do parkruns in bushy, and thought it was a London thing! Didn’t realise it was so global!
My PB is at Southampton Parkrun. Definitely the busiest I've done, though I think it was just over 1000 when I did it.
Woooooo north beach my home town park run
The course just runs the other way now
This vid of northbeach is around 2 yrs old
Can you do 10 most popular junior parkruns
Junior pr's are amazing. Th glee on the kids' faces when they get an award!
I can't believe the only ParkRun I've ever done abroad was in Cape Town (Zandvlei) & all these would've been just as close 2:52
Surprised that Delta parkrun didn't make the list as there are usually in excess of 1000 people there every week 🇿🇦 Also where parkrun started in SA
Seems lik som r surprised that South Africa leads d list, but remember, we hav d greatest race on earth in SA, comrades, and 2021 will be the 100 year anniversary of comrades. I started running because of parkrun and have since completed 2 comrades.. Thank u parkrun
our local park run is amazed if we get over 100 people
North Beach has two routes. the north route is shown on the video. The south route is used mostly. Thank you for featuring our parkrun. Please drop us a line at northbeach@parkrun.com! Regards Richard (Event Director)
I wish park run was more popular in the USA
Over 1,400 runners ahhhhh so many runners I think I’ll stay in my small Whitley bay parkRun 😂
Whitley Bay was my first! (Anna)
The Running Channel hope to see you there some time❤️❤️❤️
When runners are sped up - 'Look Mum, I can ski!' 😂

As a Parkrun Poland community, we ask for a movie: The LEAST POPULAR parkruns In The WORLD.🙏🏃♀🏃♂
